Weight Adjusted Rating (WAR for short) is a mathematically precise way to measure the skill of wrestlers across different weights. We can statistically predict the outcome of matches based on the differences in WAR between 2 wrestlers. You can learn more about it at www.WellRunTournaments.com/faq
Man I love Gavin’s dad’s encouragement...instead of getting frustrated and beating him down he tells him he’s proud of him even when he loses. Imagine what that does for him mentally. If every parent could encourage their kid like this in the midst of competition!
@@sammyholdem2492 yeah bc studies have shown that beating your kid down and focusing only on winning does wonders for their confidence and future mental development.
@@sammyholdem2492 how in the world is this dad doing any of the things you mentioned? Just b/c he's not yelling at his kid and mad at him for losing doesn't mean he's teaching his kid to blame others and not take responsibility for his actions. Ever had an employer that does that to you? Makes you want to work harder doesn't it??
Jason, I liked the way calmed down Antonio.... He actually listened to what u had to say. You encouraged then gave him his options short n to point. Not many coaches do that for their athletes.
Seriously, this is saving me!! I haven't wrestled in 2 years plus COVID because of torn ankles, concussions and all of that panorama stuff, I haven't enjoyed watching Wrestling in a long time. Thank you for keeping me entertained until club wrestling starts again!!
Excellent vlog. So sad it’s over! Xavier did well! Gavin has improved a lot and so nice to see Jason talk to Antonio and get his confidence restored. Love the efforts and work put into these Vlogs. They are amazing!
This channel came up because I watch a lot of BJJ on RU-vid I guess. I'm just a grappler out in Vegas but I AM SO INVESTED in these kids now. This is a great series and Jason is an awesome coach.
so awesome again! would love to go to camp but i can’t!🤬 this cool warm up demo ! and more crying again but i can’t talk bc bullies make me cry a lot 😢
11:30 that slam was actually me I’m not even joking I remember going to that tournament. Look up my name Brendan Stoutenburg on safari or google and a wrestling link might pop up so click on it and it will show my face :)
I hope you guys enjoyed the episode. The next episode will come out next week! If you've attended a WAR Zone, please do me a favor and let people know what you thought of it in the comments.
Shit i wrestled through school all the other sports were candyland compared to the training, weight cutting, and straight up fortitude you need for this competition b.t.w i wasnt even that good. Top level wrestling is even more intensive. It builds great character
4:00 RJ got an unfair match by weight. That's sort of ok in practice, but in a tournament I like to keep it within +/- 3 pounds. A kid needs to feel like they have a chance when a medal is at stake.
@@phule3625 People always think of +/- 6 pounds as if they are talking about adults. I promise you that a muscular, lean, and well trained 50 pound kid is no match for a muscular, lean, and well trained 55 pound kid. That's a 10% difference in body size which equates to an entirely separate weight division in the UFC. EDIT: If you meant my +/- 3 lbs then that is just what I aim for with my kid, not what the tournaments say.
I was at a wrestling camp I went to a crab ride and for a second my arm went around his neck and the kid got pissed and put me In a full Nelson telling me I did a illegal move I was like sorry bud but I didn’t because I never locked my arm ps I would recommend to send ur kids to the jeff Jordan state champ camp
Ok so I’ve been wrestling in Pa for 13 years and have had many good coaches and partners over the years. My question is why are you so huge on the crab Ride? obviously is it is a good ride and will help your wrestlers develop instead of “pressing the easy win button” or just using kind of beginner stuff but there are plenty of good top rides. I am just wondering why so big on a crab ride. Ps love the content great youth wrestling coaching by preparing them for the future.
When crab ride is your foundational approach to top wrestling, you will continue evolving on top throughout your career (leg riding too). Styles that involve breaking your opponent down before trying to turn them tend to stop working once the bottom wrestlers get better. Going all in on the crab ride worked for me.
I thought dropping your opponent on the head is illegal. I like how the referee pretends like he didn't see it (because he didn't call it). "Oh he must have fell on his head..." Wise guy. I think I was as ticked off as Antonio. You could feel the pain of that drop. A dirty move. Loser move.
The headlock usually doesn’t have the opponent land on their head. Antonio’s opponent wasn’t try to hurt him, it just happened that way. It was a very nice throw, but it was unfortunate that Antonio landed that way. Fortunately he was ok.
The parents need to work on their parenting skills. When a kid is crying, you don't talk to them like that. There's other ways to fire them up than being aggressive, they're not old enough to handle that.
The parents and the coach should be ashamed with the way they allow these boys to get away with such poor sportsmanship when they lose. The need to congratulate the winner with good grace. The coach and the parents are turning these boys into poor human beings.
@@WrestlingTournamentsDotCom yea, "the man" balling and claiming he was cheated, throwing a fit on camera. Imagian what this kids like with no camera at home if he acts like that on video. Plus that kid Dose not have a girlfriend
