I feel like this ride would get so much love if it was a new ride, but because its replaced bubbleworks, people (including me) are just too upset and keep comparing. You cant beat nostalgia
I used to love the bubble works I went on it so many times shame they changed the name I used to love smelling the sweet fizzy drink scent they should of kept it the same name. You’re right you definitely cannot beat nostalgia.
When I heard the bubble works was closing for this, I begged my parents to take me to chessington for my birthday. I did feel like the bubble works was miles better but I loved this ride, and am so glad they kept the fountains
I haven't seen the Gruffalo in years. I still remember the Christmas special, just before Doctor Who Christmas special. My dad would call me the grumpalo when I was grumpy lol.
Nothing was as much fun as the original Professor Bubbleworks! It was unique, incredible waterworks! Whaterver problems Bubbleworks had, Chessington could have found a solution instead of replacing it with this.
From videos not a fan of the ride but will give it a go when i go to chessington as sometimes video doesnt do a ride justice, bubbleworks will still remain in my heart especially when i watch 360 videos using my VR headset
Thanks for the upload. I am trying so hard to like the rebranding of the ride.... it looks lovely, but throughout i couldn't help but feel like something was missing...... The music was an integral part of the original ride and adds drama and excitement, the "fountain finale" and the music were all key parts to create the crescendo of the ride, the fountain finale is there but as amazing as the deco is, it still lacks that goofy wacky charm the original had and makes this seem less fun like it doesnt poke fun at itself as much as the original did. I couldnt really hear music all the way through, perhaps it is there quietly but the prof burp theme was blasting away the entire time. Prof Burps was wacky, crazy, goofy, and brilliant. RIP Bubbleworks
It’s not the same is it… I miss bubble works I still remember the theme music to this day! Wish i could have taken my little girl on it so she could have seen my childhood ride
I must admit, I was expecting to hate this because I remember when the Bubbleworks opened and they were a huge part of my childhood... but this is really well themed. =)
It's not bad. But also not good enough to warrant Bubbleworks closing imo. I also feel like this ride concept would work better in a classic dark ride system, not with the boats. So basically they should've just built this as a separate dark ride if they really wanted this in the park, is what I say.
Totally. Chessington could really use another decent dark ride. The last thing it needed was swaping its best dark ride for a massively underwhelming one. Perhaps if I were four years old, I'd see the appeal...
It looks like a great ride concept with well-designed sets and figures, but it doesn't really work with the ride system. This ride system worked with Bubbleworks because the overall story was extremely simple (factory tour), the gags were very easy to understand quickly, and it didn't really matter which way you were looking so the spinning is fun. The Gruffalo's story is more involved and you have to be focused on certain areas to understand the story, which makes the spinning annoying rather than enjoyable. I'm also not understanding how the fountains impact the ride's story at all. I've not read the book, but I'm of the belief that you should be able to understand and enjoy a ride experience without knowing the source material (for example, Disney's Splash Mountain is very easy to understand even though most riders haven't seen Song of the South or even know the characters' names). I felt frustrated that I had to decipher the story. I think it would have been easier to understand with a normal dark ride system. I'm not saying that the Gruffalo is a horrible ride, rather that it really deserved its own ride rather than being stuffed into a pre-existing one. The Bubbleworks layout does not service the Gruffalo well and the Gruffalo does not do the Bubbleworks layout justice.
Thank you for taking me on another awesome day..love watching you and Charlotte having such good times..be safe..I'll be waiting for your next video...❤
I've Might Go On The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure AKA Prof Burp's Bubbleworks At Chessington World Of Adventures One Day. Thanks Theme Park Worldwide Mate. X
It looks good, not 100 percent sure about it. The start seems a little sparsely themed but the end looks good and it's great the fountains are still there. I think it's better than the Imperial Leather bubble works but maybe not as good as the original Professor Burps bubble works.
THE FOUNTAINS, ARE, NO MORE!!!!!!!! DU DU DU, DU DU DA, DA DA DA, DA DA DA!! DA DA DA!!! WHERE ARE FOUNTAIN!!!!! GOOD BYE FOUNTAINS!!!!! THE FOUNTAINS ARE NO MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Theme Park Worldwide You Prayed That they will Stay and so Did we, Its a Miracle, Now You have to Make a new Fountain song! NEw song ->Welcome Fountains!! Hello Fountains, We Hope you!!!!! Enjoy Your Stay!!! La la la la,.. " i don;t know How to finish It Help Me finish our new song
Theme Park Worldwide If they wanted a new ride why not think of something original? Why slap an IP on it and shove rip off merchandise in people's faces?
OMG ME AND MY FRIENDS SAW THE SEATS AND THY WERE SOAKING SO WE THOUGHT THERE WOULD BE TONS OF WATER SO FOR THE WHOLE RIDE WE WERE SCREAMING THINKING WE'D GET DRENCHED AND IN THE PICTURE THEY TAKE OF YOU WE WHERE JUST IN A HUDDLE WITH OUT HOODS ON HUDDLED UP IN A BALL 😹 Sorry for grammar cba to fix it.
Bubble works was my childhood ;( and all they did was toss it away the Gruffalo ride is actually boring I went on there with my friends this year 1hr and 20 mins of queuing it wasn’t even fun it was boring I miss bubble works so much
Our parks need to up their animatronics game! To have it like Disney. Where the characters look so realistic and actually move, so fluidly and life like. Instead of tv screens and projections and statues.
AbsSid Do you think Merlin would put the budget, thought and care that Disney gets into Chessington? CWOA is the only asset Merlin actually own yet it's the asset they care about the least.
My point exactly yes. It doesn't even need to be that extravagant it just has that same stale look and feel e.g. Lighting smoke effects motionless statues and some music. Charlie and the chocolate factory ride at Alton towers was the same except for the elevator bit lol. And that goes for most dark rides or rides like this here. They only indoor ride which wows me every time still to this day is Valhalla at Blackpool it's so unique, effects are great you can't find anywhere else 👍🏻
I Understand your Point, The ride has gone Through Many years without many animatronics, but Its Still a Great, ride. with or with out animatronics, what made me love Bubble works is The Song Track and The fountains, and In the Gruffalo, They Kept The fountains which i love, also The incline, Which Mixes Things Up
Master Knife yep. It's really average I guess kids won't mind it's just the experience of being in a boat ride in the dark will probably be enough for them. The only lively bits are the clips played on the tv screens dotted around the ride. Of course merlin probably doesn't even have a fraction of the budget that Disney has for their rides, but if you've seen the frozen ride at Disney land the theming the effects are jaw dropping. Makes it so much more immersive for kids and adults alike..
Going by just the videos I think Bubble Works was better. When they made it they knew how to pull all the elements together to make it theatrical. Yeah they kept the fountains but how much better was it when there was strobe and symphonic music? It was theatre from a boat.
Great positioning of The Camera, On top Of The Lift, Love it i always Wanted my picture taken on that spot, its looks Epic, DO You Agree ThemePark WorldWide
It's been around a decade since I went on the original bubbleworks and it sucks really hard finding out recently it closed down 4 years ago. At least it still has some things that bubbleworks had like the fountains
guess its alright if you like the Gruffalo. But professor burp was its own thing, its own creation, only at chestington, so seeing it gone, its taking that little piece of uniqueness and replacing it with just some stock thing you see everywhere.
I know right. I'm getting sick with how theme parks in the uk now, get rid of old attractions for no valid reason and replacing it with an IP for marketing. I miss the original ideas...
Nah, that's never going to happen since its was too popular and Chessington World of Adventures doesn't want to lose guests. They would probably just upgrade it, but they shouldn't even closed down Bubbleworks.
I like it, nothing beats the original bubble works! That was a ride where you could see where their budget was spent. Decent animatronics/ great score and lighting .... I'm in my late 20's now and I still humm the tune. The overlay with imperial was shocking and I honestly thought it was just an advert ride. At least this is a nice mid-way... The screens and statues are clearly there to cut back on budget ... But at least this has some sort of story/style unlike the crappy bubble works 2.0.
What I find strange about Bubbleworks' closure is that it was a family attraction (as in all ages could enjoy it) - it honestly surprised me that they changed it to the Gruffallo ride seeing as it mainly caters to younger children. I get that Bubbleworks was aged, but logically you'd want attractions that appeal to the widest audience possible imo 🤷♀
I went on this a few weeks ago I was freaking out at first because I had never been to Chessington at the time but when I went down the big drop I was really freaking out but I love the ride alot
This ride traumatised me as a kid because I was forced to go on it by my mother and also the animatronics scared me. I also cried on this ride when my friends mum took me and my friend on it
