Greetings Tau'va
I have been using our sneaky tactician for 4+ months now and he has been terrorising the scene with moves that I explain in this video. My Patrons have had access to these combos since august, I pride myself on educating my students to get the most out of their lists and setting you up for success.

Sorry it’s very possible I’m missing some rule and I’m coming across as a bit dumb, but how are the pathfinders deploying so far forward to begin with (I don’t believe the unit has infiltrate?) to then be able to use their scout move to get in the devilfish? Thanks in advance (for hopefully patient) answers.

You give the team leader the recon drone which gives the unit infiltrator ability, then you can scout move into the devilfish as a scout move is a normal move. The reason the devilfish gets a scout move is because Dark strider is in the devilfish and is the only model inside the transport with scout keyword so transfers it the the transport. Hope this makes sense

Congrats on the LVO performance. Excellent tactic with Darkstrider and the pathfinders. Do you ever find that an opponent kills the devilfish easily and leaves darkstrider and the pathfinders stranded and open to enemy firepower ? The total package is quite expensive (225 points). Is is sometimes better to just sacrifice the pathfinders (or farstalkers) to prevent enemy scout moves knowing they will die ?

No because I don't let that happen as the devilfish scout moves behind terrain as kind of shown on the video. I never let them get to my devilfish and it's content unless it's by design to bait them out so the rest of my army delivers the killing blow.

Can someone explain why the pathfinders have infilreators kw? Are they still being led by darkstrider even if that model is in the transport?

You take the recon drone as an upgrade which gives them infiltrate keyword

I thought the entire unit had to be within 3 inches of the transport to embark? Please correct me, I’m new to playing 10th

Now it has changed to wholly within see the new rules commentary. So yes you plan it out to make sure each model ends wholly within 3". So for example you map out where the devilfish will end up after it's scout move, place some dice there or markers, then deploy the infiltrating pathfinders first 9" away from where the devilfish will inevitably end up so that each model ends wholly within 3" and then they can embark. Hope this helps clear up your question.

Dang! I know I'm late to this but wow! That is very impressive. Thank you for suggesting this video. I like the strat but as of late I've been dabbling with pure infantry T'au so I find myself keeping him with pathfinders. Any advice for me?

Always had the option since index, it's a special drone they take called the recon drone 👍🏻

Can you show me where a scout move is a normal move? I don’t think my local TO rules it that way Also I don’t think an advance counts as a normal move

If you just go to GW APP and select core rules, deployment and abilities read the scout rules and it literally says normal move multiple times and show it to your TO. If you look at the transport rule it says you can embark if you make a Normal or advance or fall back move.

you said the unit doesn't have to end wholly within 3" of the devilfish to embark, was there an errata or FAQ to the interaction? I may have misunderstood your intent but the embark rule says every model needs to be within 3" of the transport.

Yeah every model needs to be within 3" it doesn't say wholly so as long as you're within 3" you embark.

At 8:17 Scout move devilfish - got that. Disembarked Units count as moved right? An scout move Counts as normal move - has to, when you can embark through scout move?? How come you can make a scout and normal move out of it? -

You are misunderstanding the combination. Here is it explained. 1. Devilfish has JUST darkstrider inside it to make it legally allowed to be deployed. As the only model embarked has scout keyword transport is given scout move of 7". 2. The pathfinders infiltrate then scout move (normal move) to be NOW wholly within 3" (due to new rules commentary) as they are all wholly within 3 they embark. 3. In your turn 1 the pathfinders get out wholly within 3" this is not a normal move. Then can move normally aka 7". 4. Then another unit can embark into the devilfish, for example the breachers on foot. 5. Then the devilfish can then move and or advance to get into position for future turn. (That unit can then not disembark in the same turn it embarked) which is why the pathfinders can embark and then immediately disembark due to the scouting phase of the game isn't a "turn". Hope this clears up any confusion.
