Burton Cummings and The Guess Who rock out on ABC In Concert March 2, 1973, Set includes: American Woman, Bye Bye Babe, No Time, and Those Show Biz Shoes
@@steveludwig4200 wrong he was great with the guitar don't know where your got that bullshit from I personally use to hear him when he lived in ft.gary and God wife was also a great women period.
Still watching & listening in 2022 & now 2024!🎶🎵🎹🎸🎙️👍👌 I never get enough of Burton Cummings & The Guess Who. Burton & Randy Bachman are still Rockin' together in concert to this day! Can you believe Burton will be 75 yrs old & Randy at 78! 🇨🇦🎼🎹🎸✌️👍🎤🎶💃❤️ Update: Randy & Burton are touring with their own bands in the USA🇺🇸 this year 2024!
Seen them with steppenwolf back in the day awesome show felt very entertained Burton Cummings and John Kay have given so much to rock and roll greatness this is what it's all about
@Richard Geschwindner It's just my opinion but consider this: it's a fact that the groups who get nominated have a say in which members get in and which don't. Deep Purple original bassist Nick Simper was snubbed. No one has given a reason and he doesn't know why. Fleetwood Mac had a money disagreement with Bob Welch and the band got revenge by keeping him out of the Hall. In the case of The Guess Who, the name is owned by Jim Kale and so he would have some imput over who gets in and who doesn't. How embarassing for the Rock Hall would it be if Kale decided that Bachman and Cummings don't get in and the members of his fake Guess Who bar band do? Just my opinion.
These guys really move me. Their youthfulness and talent. The raw honesty of their lyrics and the way they work together astounds me. I was 11-years old when these guys were on top. I was very shy then and didn't feel comfortablewith them; but as a 61-year old man, now, I rock with them. These guys are true showmen and authentic. What a ride!
I was 14 years old when that was going on, about the same time as Joe Walsh and the James gang, and of course led Zeppelin and many many other greats!!! And it helped to shape my musical career I miss those days bad!! The Artful dodger
@@manuellopaganelli9123 That's a tough call. Chilliwack, trooper and April Wine were all top shelf rock bands too. But, the Guess Who were the first out the gate and therefore...
It just doesn’t get better than this folks! This group became worldly known very quickly! Burton still sings and performs still today but has gained a lot of weight! Still has a great voice!
@@johnmartin4332 Guess Who had a hard start getting recognized in the states & back in those days either bands made it big down in the US or that was it
They were my favorite band entering high school. They received a lot of airplay on WLS and Super CFL in Chicago. Alway liked Orly and Glamour boy as well.
Well damn it anyway!!! This is simply fantastic. Early 70's Classic Canadian Rock!!! Can't get much better. Well maybe a little, but not a whole lot!! Thanks for this epic performance. All the best from a 62 year old brother from Southwestern Ontario!!
Thrilled to see a live performance of “show biz shoes “. This song is from artificial paradise, their most progressive album in my opinion.Great music, album art work, etc. Didn’t sell as well but to me their finest recording. As a Winnipeger,I grew up on their music and still love their music.
Absolutely one of the best!! Love BCs vocals….. So glad 40 some years later we can see this again! Gotta show my grandchildren. They’ll love it! ✌️❤️⭐️⭐️
It's great to see this band & anything we want to hear or see on RU-vid 👍 We get to re-live the best. We didn't get to see this band or others back then! Exciting!🎼🎸🎹✌️🎤💃 Pretty Lucky!
Saw The Guess Who around 71 or maybe 72, can't be sure at this point. (I was a mere sophomore in high school). I was expecting just a run down of their top 10 hits. Wow, was I surprised. Even though they played their hits I was truly amazed at the talent they had that didn't come across on their 45s. (showing my age now)! I have been a true fan since. Still listen to them on the radio and I have a different perspective now. I have been to many concerts over the years and I have always been impressed how much better a great band is better by seeing them live. Can really see all the talent each member has and it makes for a better concert experience.
Seeing Burton Cummings, who is by far one of the best voices in rock n roll, wearing a Boston Bruins Bobby Orr hockey jersey is comforting, I wore that same jersey as a kid growing up in Boston and watching #4 score that iconic flying through the air goal in the Stanley Cup finals! The memories just keep on coming to this 65 yo Bostonian by birth, Thanks Burton for great music and memories!
Grew up a Red Wings fan, but they were almost as bad in the 70's as they are now, so I had to rout for a winner... the Bruins! Derek Sanderson was my favorite, but "Pie Face" McKenzie, Terry O'Reilly, Orr, Esposito, Cashman, Bucyk and company played the game as we say, "the way it used to be played."
These guys were phenomenal there music was and always will be some of the best tunes ever produced on one album called "The Best of the Guess Who" which has a bunch of top 10 hits which not too many bands have even come close to selling as many albums as that album has sold? Great lyrics and fantastic Musicians to back it up. Thanks Guys love your music always have and always will. 👌👍😎
Side view of Burton I can see a glimpse of Rhoda his very special mother. 17 year old Burton was hired by a band playing clubs not making alot of money. Withing two years he became front man and the rest is history. I'm am so happy to be a baby boomer we had the most incredible rock and roll that you can imagine.
Great show by a great band. The Guess Who at the time of this concert: Piano, guitar and vocals: Burton Cummings; Lead and rhythm guitars and backing vocals: Kurt Winter; Guitars and backing vocals: Donnie McDougall; Bass, vocals and backing vocals: Bill Wallace; Drums and backing vocals: Garry Peterson.
Hard to believe this is 47 years ago....The Guess who are so underated, they could truly rock.miss those girls with the hair parted in the middle and all the long haired dudes...and the partying!! Good times.
Great to see a live performance of "Bye Bye Babe" and "Those Show Biz Shoes". Just wish the camera would have spent more time on Kurt Winter when he was wailing away on his guitar.
I agree 100%. There are 2 famous lead guitarists that said KURT WINTER was the BEST in his time. You might have heard of them. Joe Walsh and Eric Clapton. NO JOKE !!!
Saw the Guess Who at rainbow stage around the time of this video. Incredible energy and talent. Burton is now on facebook during the epidemic doing a great job. The best thing about Winnipeg,The Guess Who!!
Fabulous!! Great lineup, great times. As a Winnipeger, they were our group.Best band out of Canada ever.BC was so good,he became a caricature much later on but no one can deny his talent.
my name is Loni. Isn't it just GREAT having youtube. We can see all the great bands only heard on the radio or recordings (records, 8track, cassette tapes or cd) All those bands never got to see live in concerts before🎸🎤🎵🎶🎼🎹👏👏👏💃💃💃
life long music fan here saw all the great 70’s bands, but i have to say every generation has its great music. i also saw great punk shows in the 80’s, rap sows in the 90’s…is all great when made from the urgency of youth. check out The Warning or Starcrawler. so yes we will se music this good and already have if you look for it.
Awesome video and song thank youuuu to the music enhancement network for uploading this fantastic video and song you guys are making me feel like if am in this awesome concert lol thank 🙃😛👍🌻👍🌻👍🌻👍🥳👍👍🥳
I was fortunate to see The Guess Who several times in the 60s - they were just starting out in Winnipeg and used to play on loading docks of stores like the old Loblaws. The word would get out and we would gather and watch a live concert. The good old days. ❤ Still watching in 2024.
Saw them in Windsor the 1st time (73). Great show. Burton Cummings is one of the best rock vocalists ever, up there w/ McCartney (IMHO). They need to be in the Hall Of Fame 4 years ago.
Mike Bottiaux, I have been looking for ABCs Wide World of In Concert for a longtime. This is the only clip that I have seen. It was a great show. Used to watch it when it was on.
Saw them in concert in Pennsylvania a year or two before this was filmed. They looked exactly the same but also played great. They got a surprise mention in the movie Almost Famous by a actor mentioning them as the most truthful band there was. They were indeed special! Now it looks like there is a modern American band using the same name.
My master said that would have been when they were touring and visited Cleveland in the same "tour". Upbeat TV show. Tube has live footage from that Cleveland show
Awesome video today must be my birthday I'm enjoying this amazing videos and music by the fantastic Guess who I love this it a million thanks to the music enhancement network for uploading this fantastic video and song you guys are the greatest music enhancement network thank you youuuu for your fantastic work 👍👍👍👍💋👍💋👍💋👍💋👍💋🥳
I saw the Guess Who in 1970 at a community center in Weirton W .Va. About 300 people, they introduced their new single, American Woman. Hard to believe!
Always happy to see the hottest guy from Winnipeg BURTON CUMMINGS!!! 💙💚💜 He just makes me melt then & now 😊 He is still soooo hot today for his age & though he no longer hit's the high notes one doesnt even care he sounds so good & is still performing today 💋
If you in Canada at the time Holy suit you lucky I was cape Town south africa this music was unheard of. Oh, how I missed the boat. But I managed to get every album they made. Darn!! Tragic.
Amen. I'd never thought to hear it done live, and here it is with "Bye Bye Babe", with one of Kurt's best solos, IMHO. Hard to believe that this line-up would be toast in just over a year.
I used to try to copy his scat singing but to no avail. You know you want leave Eve! You know you got to Go Oh! When he would extend it at the end. I loved that part! Goodbye American Woman! Bye Bye!
Live at the Paramount in Seattle still a Top 5 "live" album of all time. This 1973 show I watched live on TV. Forgot what city it was filmed at though. The song,"Those Show Biz Shoes" with the lithe dancer swaying defies words. Big thanks for posting this Mark Farrell.
I'm in these 60's and 70's social media rock music groups and whenever the question of greatest singer comes up I usually choose Steve Marriott or Ian Gillan,,,, but damn... Burton Cummings needs to be in the top 10 list of greatest ever. Incredible band this was. A better time for sure.
