The play out on Glamour Profession ( Gaucho) is outstanding.

Agree. Have listened to that many many times. The progression is very cool and edgy. It gets into a kind of drone like feel too, which Steve lays some style down over. There is one phrase near the end that kills me every time. Other great stuff he did with Donald was the tune True Companion from the Heavy Metal soundtrack... check it out if you dont know it.

A 2 minute show? Kind of leaves you hangin'....like...where's the rest? Great playing never the less.

A chord master. As distinctive as Holdsworth or McLaughlin in his voicings.

Absolutely. I'm a guitar player/teacher in LA and a decent player but yeah, all the way. Can't help but notice - and admire - a tool (for lack of a better term) Steve and others employ learned from Holdsworth -- basically never ascend or descend more than three or four notes in a row without changing your pattern (meaning going the opposite direction with the next phrase, doubling back, whatever). Yeah, sounds silly or dogmatic, right? But just try it, even if in just mixo or pents and you'll be amazed how much it perks up your playing. Works for this pilgrim.
