Admittedly, I'm a bit of a Jason and the 400 Unit fanboy- but Sadler and Jason IMO are the best ham and egg guitar duo making music today. I loved this- glad to see Sadler getting some well deserved credit.

Couldn’t agree more! I met him in Carbondale, IL after seeing JI& the 400 Unit. He is such a nice down to earth person. I asked him if that was his real name and he showed me his driver’s license. Lol. He was born to be a rock star! He reminds me of Mike Campbell, humble and plays his role perfectly!! Keep rockin!!

I look forward to watching this. When I saw the 400 Unit last time they came through Richmond, VA, Sadler's performance was a lead guitar clinic. I am still digesting it, and inspired by it.

Great video. Sadler is so talented and versatile. My favorite thing about him is he’s got chops from hear til Sunday but uses them only if they fit the music. He’s a musician first but man when he decides to start tearing it up look out! He’s smoking and a totally killer player. Very melodic and tasteful player too.

This was the best gear video I can recall. Really enjoyed Sadler explaining his greatness. Been a fan since I saw a video of the 400 unit putting together one of their big songs in the studio. Sadler brought it all together. Those folks are great talent. We are lucky yo have them.

Marty!! So happy to see you with Sadler! This guy (and yourself) are inspirational beyond words. His talent is only preceded by his laid back attitude and style; a true humble virtuoso. His slide work, in open tuning no less, was one of many highlights. Glad you’re out of your own studio for a minute and rubbing elbows with the heavies!

Old Yamaha FG's are the D-28's of the working man. Nice pull, Marty. Drivin' and Cryin' was a great band and Jason Isbell is fantastic! Straight to Hell was one of the 1st things I ever learned to play. 3 chords and a simple walking bass line.

Great Marty. This (to me ) is the best interview since you interviewed dear ED King, God bless him. I had not even heard of Michael Jason Isbell and my God is this guy Sadler Vaden is so good and has so much imagination in his music. I will be listening to Sadler Vaden music from now on. Marty thanks so much for interviewing Sadler.

Interesting story regarding the name of the "400 Unit". Jason Isbell grew up in Lauderdale County/Muscle Shoals Area of North Alabama (as did I). The hospital that served the area at the time was Eliza Coffee Memorial (ECM) Hospital. The psychiatric wing of the hospital was called the "400 Unit". ECM would periodically bus patients of the 400 Unit over to Court and Tennessee Sts. in downtown Florence and let them out with some meal money and then later reconvene on the bus. Jason tells the story of his own band members being on the tour bus and needing some "meal money" when they got off in some small town. He noted the similarities and dubbed his band the "400 unit".

What is that amp Sadler is playing through? Looks like a Thomas Organ Cambridge Reverb, but I could be wrong. For those that don't already know, Sadler's demo of the Vox AC30S1 is the best that amp will ever sound. He used his '51 Nocaster for it.
