Love how Jack Carr gives back so much to the friends that he's made in life. Whether they were military friends, or people he's met along his path, he weaves them into his stories and pays homage to their lives and their contributions to the world. That is awesome!!
I completely agree. When I first heard him speak I thought...man he sounds like he is full of bs, too saley sounding, then I quickly realized....nope that is what real passion sounds like. I love it.
I remember in an interview with Stephan Hunter mentioned that giving his character certain guns and gear defines what type of person that character is. It's nice to see other authors use this in their novels.
Hunter has been one of my favorite authors ever since I read "Dirty White Boys"...Hunter is a true "Gun guy"...as is Jack Carr...the one thing that turns me off completly is a mistake with firearms..shows ignorance..whether simple or crass...ignorance nonetheless...
Awesome collection. Dynamis, Amtac and Winkler blades all have one thing in common besides the SEAL community; they were all trained or were partnered up with the Sayoc organization.
I've read the first 3 of Jack Carr's novels and they are all great reads and very entertaining. I would love to see more of his work coming out in the future.
Spoiler alert!!! Reese doesn't do the intestinal thing in the show, at least not in alignment with the novel. Try a wooden post in a dingy room with his tomahawk.
they used the p226 for many many many years, while the rest of the military was using the beretta. They've moved on now, but for decades these guys all grew up with sigs
I love novelists who get really excited about their work and pay such fine attention to detail, drawing upon real firearms and their friends and experiences and stories they've heard over the years. Listening to Jack Carr is inspiring and I can't wait for July when Chris Pratt hits the screen as James Reece.
@@kylewood8327 Yeah. Kyle Mills took over the Mitch Rapp series. They are still good but not nearly as good as Vince's. This is the first I've heard of Jack Carr so I'm going to have to dig into them.
@@bobkmac I’ve looked another author as good as Vince Flynn with a character as badass as Rapp for years. Carr is the closest that there is. You won’t be disappointed.
Yes, yes, and yes. There is always a “story” behind every piece of good gear. Jack Carr picked that up on the teams and the fact it’s incorporated into the story is down right fantastic. I loved the four book series. I’ll be keeping my eye out for other novels. I really can’t wait for the series to air this July. It feels so far away and I’ve been waiting so long.
@@d-unit-outdoors I'm still on my first book(Savage Son), I've been taking my sweet ass time reading it because the book is that good I don't want to finish it.
(1:53) first nation tribes lol he's talking about Filipinos and indos using it...that's where it originally came from...I see guys in the ghetto using this to rob people back in manila 90's.. it's a form of martial art called pencak silat to utilize the karambit
I totally with jack on using gear to develop the characters. One question I do have regarding this and his being a seal? How come none of his characters, since most of them are military, carry an emerson cqc7? That is one cool knife that deserves a story.
Why would anyone walk around the tree, your dead either way. Do not cooperate let them kill you there. Why does anyone prolong their certain death. Fight until unconscious and then some. Kool tools ballistic and other.
The Ithaca 12's IMO, where better made then the 870's. Glad you said that at the end about hopefully owning 1 one day. Shame the company had to shut down.
For the show he ended up switching to a winkler tomahawk the same one on his hat and instead of a tree it was a support beam in a warehouse and he made him walk away instead of walking in circles
@Jim Hall ... I wondered the same thing. ... I'm betting 6.5x55mm Swedish. Relatively low recoil. Very high sectional density bullets give deep penetration
When Walmart had to virtue signal and remove any gun they say as tactical, I saw my 870 defense shotgun on sale for $200. Went home, turned around and went back to grab it. Thank you walfart
He mentioned the Ithaca. Find you one. The 37 police or some military version. I inherited a 37 police riot that's my favorite, seconded by an 870 Wingmaster Ohio National Guard military model.
Great channel! Loved all of Jack Carr's books.... Read them all in a week!! Please write more! I found the descriptions/imagery incredible and the emotions real and sometimes, necessarily, disturbing.
OK, no disrespect to my brother US Navy vet, but, I don't run out the door each morning like I'm headed into a war zone hot LZ instead of where I'm actually going which is Dunkin Donuts. I've been there thousands of times, and have yet to get into a fire fight. Seriously Bro, tomahawks? Come on. I'm with you on the Sig 365, check, I have a Swiss army knife, a watch, a pen, my old Ray Bans, and that's it. I blend in and no one notices anything unusual about me because there isn't anything to stand out.
