While we obviously have to wait and see for their in-game description, there is already a follower called "Akshina Informant" who explicitly mentions they are the Tzarina's secret police. The unit we get in Shadows of Change are explicitly called Akshina Rangers, so I would guess these are kinda like the rural branch of the Akshina, and possibly even the organisation the Ice Court uses to exert some level of control or authority over the hags.
>Hag Mothers are confirmed to be a thing >Shadows of Change doesn't introduce Hag Mothers as generic lord choices I am beyond mad at this point. I hope we get those as FLCs...if ever. Edit: I'm also against making Incarnate Elementals of Beast exclusive to Kislev only. They should be available to anyone who have access to the Lore of Beasts. It's written in the Monstrous Arcanum for all Elementals. It's further nailed in the 4th ED Warhammer RPG.
It looks like they definitely shit the bed with Kislev content in this DLC. Gotta see the full spread when they reveal it before making a final opinion. TZ got a lot of love GC still has plenty of dragon kids and the Monkey King so don’t mind them getting a smaller amount of content, but the content for the hags feels lacking to have a truly thematic campaign and it feels like the missing content to get this DLC to $25 worth is on the Kislev roster. Hag Mothers, Hag magic, some more cheap Unit variety that fits with the forests and the hags and ungols should all be there.
This was a really fun listen. I do want to say regarding the pricing of the dlc and lack of certain content, I understand that CA isn’t going to turn around and be like “yes, we’ll add all that y’all want”. There’s even a very likely chance that nothing gets added in response to customer concerns; however, I want to believe in compromise. Give us a Hag Mother lord. Its that simple, I’ll buy the dlc if they do. Its not even that Kislev as a factions matters more to me than any other, but it makes no sense to have Boyar lords for Mother Ostankya….like it makes me almost not even want to use her faction when there’s such a glaring oversight that honestly makes no sense from a lore perspective. Maybe I’m overreacting, maybe not lol.
The least I would ask for is generic lords and heroes for every faction and not just half the ammount we would get from a propper lordpack. Then it would be worth about 15€ to 19€.
@@HamlettheOmelette Especially for Kislev it just feels like the vision isn't quite there in game. The premise is cool; you have the traditional seat of power in the Ice Court, the ancient magic of the land itself represented by the hags, and the resurgent and much more Sigmarite-style Grand Orthodoxy. But the way it currently works in-game doesn't quite feel like these are distinct factions in an (at best) uneasy alliance, it feels like they've all kinda been muddied together into something that is less than the sum of its parts. For me, I think each part should have been its own DLC. Kislev at launch should have just focused on the Gospodar stuff, either have the LLs be Katarin and Boris or Katarin and, someone like the Golden Knight who could be put outside of Kislev. Then both Kostaltyn and Mother Ostyanka could have their own DLCs with their own units and mechanics that work for their unique factions.
I never got an answer as to why GBG/Nathan is no longer the cohost on lorebeards, but Andy is honestly way way better and I don’t really miss him 🤷🏼♂️
@@stefvanroey8191 while I never used the Word unlikable or hate, some of my gripes with him are: obviously the clickbaity and boring content, his occasionaly agitated and sulky personality (think for instance the cathay lorebeard stream, where he kept whining that cathay were made to shill for the ccp, his general disinterest and occasional hostility towards sotek and other guests on the podcast (the LoTW stream comes to mind), and now completely ignoring someone you have been cooperating with for a long time and not talking to them like a normal person would. It all paints a pretty bad picture in my opinion.
1:47:58 the reason for that desire comes from the fact that many mythologies in this case the Slavic are under represented. I've only seen it explored in the witcher and smite, otherwise I havent
Sotek your headphones so close to the mic is causing a feedback loop! Move your mic or turn the volume in your headset down! Hope you figure it out for next time!
Missed this stream as I was driving out to the beach, but just got home and listened to it on my drive back. Thanks for a very interesting discussion as always. I've always found the mystery of the Ancient Widow to be fascinating. My favorite fan theory that was not discussed is that she is an Old One, trapped and left behind when the others abandoned the world; perhaps intentionally by her kind
Awesome stream like always I really like this reborn lorebeards. Much more thab with the previous colleague. I agree with terrain comment, CA should definitely work on implementing terrain better.
As a spiritual person, I am always very impressed how respectful Andy and colleagues are of religious beliefs, and how insightful they are. Not experts, for sure, but always respectful. Thankyou! ❤
It's interesting how Andy mentioned the "trepidations of cultures" but yet was part of the development of the Kislev Hags and in the lore made it that only females can be of this magical role. Which can be seen as sexist by other genders if he's concerned with sensitivity. Same with the Ice Queens. At 2:12:14 Lore master Sotek just said "There's always a guy, well it always is a guy. That goes "this doesn't offend me, why shouldn't be in there." " Wtf it's not always "guys" lore master sotek it can be any gender. I'm sensing subliminal sexism here against males.
28:33 I'd say, that triple goddess can be the warhammer version of the Slavic goddess of the young, mature and old women. They are triplets. They are called Zorya, one represents the dawn, one represents dusk, the other represents midnight
Idk if there’s been any confirmation on this, but the Steam page makes it seem like the Incarnate Elemental is The Thing In The Woods with the way it’s described.
Perhaps I shouldn’t get myself in trouble by stating my opinion on the Kroxigor models… … but I agree that Morathi doesn’t look right. I’m keen to hear what Andy’s take on her representation is.
Having the Old World army books for Kislev & Cathay is gonna help interpreting a lot of this. Agreed on the chicken hut. It doesn’t need to be a thing.
Yep, she is from decently far back in the timeline. I don’t know what year it was supposed to be, but far back enough that a normal human would have died of old age. Her story is from a time when Bretonnia was being invaded by a powerful Chaos Warriors army (I think it was an alliance of Nurgle and Khorne warriors?). Bretonnia was losing the war until Repanse took up the sword, and the army she gathered was able to come to the rescue of Couronne, where Repanse slew the Nurgle champion and the Choas armies were defeated.
Disagree with Andy on the fimir. You can find people who take issue with every part of Warhammer. Fimir violence towards women is an unaccetable part of the lore. Hag violence towards boys is acceptable part of the lore. Why?
