Currently I am 24 and balding , most probably at norwood 2, consulted with a dermatologist, he said I have MPB ,most likely will prescribe minoxidil, but I am hesitant to use it, need suggestions from your side how to regow and maintain hair naturally
Is it possible to get your hair massage instructions somehow? I signed up through a link under one of your older videos, but didn’t get any email. Thanks!
this is a borderline masterclass on layman's understanding of scientific fudgery for manipulating data on everything; not just hair loss. well done and bravo.
If you want a good example of "scientific fudgery", look no further than the official scientific report on how Building 7 collapsed. Also read the hacked 'Climate-Gate' emails.
Outstanding. Giving MDs, influencers, and shady companies a good old fashioned spanking. Thank you - we need voices like this in all corners of medicine
As a graduate school student who is majoring in pharmacoepidemiology, this is the most comprehensive video I watched in anti-hairloss studies. Superb work!
Just finished the video. Really appreciate the hard work! The internet can be a scary place sometimes. Even media types like forums advertise expensive anti-hair-loss products. People suffering from hair-loss are very receptive to 'new' types of solutions, because of desperation. Important not to get mislead.
Why the long break from RU-vid? Dude your hairloss videos are the best on RU-vid. If you invest the time you could easily be the number 1 hairloss channel on RU-vid!
Thanks for the kind words. The short answer: I over-committed myself to a ton of site projects, and I ran out of time. A year later, those projects are mostly done, and I’m excited to share what we built with this channel. If you have any content requests, let me know here!
I use topical finasteride with minoxidil and I have definitely got thicker and new hair growth. I am also testing my testosterone with 3-monthly blood tests and all levels are normal.
As a scientist myself, these last 3 years and the ton of research I did in some subjects as I had the time to spare killed my faith in science. Even what I teach. 41:00 Straight up consumer fraud.
Thanks! I really appreciate that. I'm sorry we haven't gotten to the video, but it's still in the works! We ended up turning that project into a manuscript about topical / mesotherapy pharmaceutical 5-alpha reductase inhibitors, and if the manuscript passes peer review, we're going to publish it + make a video about the key findings - similar to what we did with our microneedling paper. I know I owe you this video, and I promise we'll get to it!
Thanks for the video! I wanted to request to please make a video on hair loss caused by hard water. I have been facing the hair loss when I went to college and wanted to ask how it affect (I learned that it is because of blood supply) Also, what are the fixes one can use practically? Like, I cannot install an expensive water softener system, but there exist some tap water softeners at cheaper prices that are portable, but are they even effective? that's also what I wish to know. To other I wish to request to please like the comment since there is little to no material on hard water caused hair loss on internet and this thing is not temporary, the rate of hair loss is affected to even 10 years sometimes so if you are travelling to a hard water region we are screwed for years then!
Rob, I would like to ask you if you are continuing the research on massage, and are you perhaps elevating it to a higher level than self-assessment, so that you can more confidently claim that it has an effect? I'm asking only because it takes up a lot of time, really a lot of time is spent on it, but if it's effective, then every minute spent on it is worth it. On the other hand, if it's not effective, then spending 40 minutes daily for 2-3 years to stop hair loss through massage, but doing so unnecessarily, would be harsh.
My hair loss is related to my thyroid or my thyroid medication. I finally feel good, have energy, no other symptoms, but it doesn't seem to matter, my hair is falling out. I can lower or raise my dose, change medications .... doesn't matter. No one addresses this hair problem, EVER.
You could have an iodine deficiency, it causes thyroid illness. But no doctor tells you to take iodine supplements because they want to get money for the thyroid medication. You can test if you are iodine deficient. The thyroid needs iodine to work but the body aswell. Hair will fall out and get thinner if your body doesn't get enough iodine
This channel should get an award for being the most authentic channel on RU-vid. Thanks for all these profound information. I will surely give something back. 💛🙏
Very informative, I feel I now have an understanding of what all this study terminology means. That said, I can't help feeling like this leads back to square one - use fin and min and hope you don't get horrifying side effects, because nothing else will work. Probably gonna shave my head before I go that route.
That's what I thought (shave my head) but as I noticed hair gradually thinning I picked up the courage and jumped on to finasterided, take 1mg 3x a week, mon, wed and fri. Been on it since April this year and have noticed hair thickening and noticeably less hair loss in the shower. Regret not taking it much earlier due to the potential side effects.
@@rcl300018 yeah well. I'm sticking to the shave plan. Maybe if the side effects were genuinely super uncommon. Maybe if the side effects weren't potentially permanent. Not to mention that you first lose a ton of hair anyway just for starting the stuff, and can take like a year or more for improvement to show, if it does. Just not worth it imo.
i was trying everything from your channel and nothing helped to my hair. Finally minox and fin helped grow my hair. This natural methods are not working
Hi@@PerfectHairHealth, what would be a good shampoo + conditioner for hair loss and even oils (standard rosemary and coconut oils? or a mixture of both)
I have been exploited myself since being gullible and trying to get my hair loss through natural remedies and was in a hurry to fix it without any logical thinking
Hi bob...can we know your haircare routine like what are the medications and what are the dosage and their types like oral or topical and how long you have been using them and did you get any side effects (your response will be helpful to somany people like me who are fighting against the genetic hairloss)
I am suffering from hair loss for the past 15 odd years. It's now at norwood 4.5 to norwood 5 something. I've read about most of these scams and everytime I wanted to try one, I'd procrastinate due to fear of side effects. Could've done the usual fin, min, transplant. But no, fin has some debatable side effects, min has a heavy upkeep and stopping it may result in more shedding from what I've learnt and transplant, I dont wanna lose my donor area forever. So still waiting for a natural / non-invasive, no side-effect, permanent cure which may never happen for a few centuries by the looks of it. We live in such a greedy world. Incomprehensible.
Sir after my surgery My hair loss started after 5-6 months of hair loss. The hair loss has largely stopped but now the hair on top of my head is thinning and the rest of my body is losing hair such as beard, underarms, eye brows.
So look for interventional studies (rather than mechanistic or observational) that are randomized, double blind, and controlled, with subjects who are representative of the target population and products that match what was actually tested. Also look for results based on a phototrichogram rather than self reporting or photos. Forget hair loss - this is general information that applies much more broadly. Thanks.
Hey Rob! thanks for this video, as usual very helpful :). Recently I've been looking into Laser helmets but it is not easy to find their clinical studies nor their results. So besides the most expensive capillus model (my got is expensive!), have you looked into other brands and found some products with good clinical studies results?
AGA is the most common type of hair loss for which people seek treatment, because it's chronic and progressive. TE is usually transient but is the most common type of hair loss in the world because of two factors: (1) seasonal shedding, and (2) the first step-process of AGA is an initial shed that is also, by definition, TE. Here's just one of many resources: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5096239/
Experienced heart palpitations from topical minoxidil, and I’m on break until further notice. Should I get back on and only apply once a day, or twice a day but half the dosage, or don’t get back on?
I'm not a doctor and cannot offer medical advice. I do know people who managed to eliminate these side effects by titrating the daily dose - like you suggested. There are also other potential factors to consider. For instance, high-strength minoxidil concentrations likely have higher systemic absorption, and thereby a higher risk of side effects. If you're combining topical minoxidil with retinoic acid, microneedling, or any other ingredient/therapy that increases the permeability of the stratum corneum, that will also drive up systemic absorption. So, consider playing around with these variables (with the guidance of a qualified doctor). Finally, we do have a few members who switched from minoxidil to nanoxidil and noticed these side effects dissipate, but it also came at the expense of reduced treatment efficacy.
@CleM-sp3xv libido the same, but I've been married for 20 years, so not sure. 😁 Definitely worth it. It's shown to lower chances of prostate cancer, my PSA levels are VERY good and my back hair is almost gone ever since starting finestride. And I'm not joking.
What do you think about cold water rinses to stimulate the scalp? I’ve always suffered from hairloss and couple years back my hair grew back thicker and longer than ever. It was unbelievable. I just recently realized that when my hair grew back, I was doing daily cold water rinses. After I stopped doing these cold water rinses I lost all my hair again. Could there be a connection???
Sorry to hear that. Were you using oral or topical finasteride? I'm not a doctor, so check with your prescribing physician, but low-dose topical dutasteride might be an option. Even application frequencies as low as once weekly can help stabilize hair loss. You also have topical minoxidil + retinoic acid + microneedling. On the more experimental side, you also have topical androgen receptor antagonists like 1-5% topical spironolactone.
Thanks for the response! Oral finasteride 1mg 3 times a week. The theorised mechanism is that meibomian glands are sensitive to DHT and that a reduction in DHT causes less meibum to be produced thus leading to hyposecretory meibomian gland dysfunction which causes excessive tear evaporation. The other medications I'll look into , they all impact testoterone and DHT to some degree so I am reluctant to try them as my dry eye is so bad and I do not want my meibomian glands to get any worse. I'll try the microneedling, and maybe try a really low dose topical finasteride once a week, I only have hair loss on the corners of my hairline and it is really asymmetrical, only on the right hand side mainly. Do you think topical minoxidil will be helpful for me aswell?@@PerfectHairHealth
I'm sorry but there's only three alternatives to fight hair loss. Finasteride, Minoxidil and hair transplant, with Finasteride imo being the most important. Everything else is snake oil. We have not seen any breakthrough to fight hair loss in probably 20 years and I've lost all hope we'll truly see a cure, at least not in our lifetime.
Hey rob please give me answer I'm very confused and depressed 😞,i can't find the reason of my hair fall, the problem is start when I changed the city for study ,i facing the problem from one year and i have no genetic issue in my family and also I don't have any other health issues please tell me what I can do and now I using minoxidil
I think there are better-studied androgen receptor antagonists that have a longer track record of safety, plus some efficacy data for AGA in men. Example = 1-5% spironolactone.
I put the local solution Minoxidil 5% + Finasteride 0.05% daily twice a day every 12 hours and I had no problems! Now that I've added 25mg of DHEA (which raises testosterone) I feel like my hair has started to fall out! Would it be good to increase the dose of the topical solution to minoxidil 5% + Finasteride 0.1% ??
Rob, I’ve started the head massages and lost a tonne of hair. My hair is very fragile because I haven’t been able to fight my hair loss because I’ve had Lyme Disease. I’ now getting to a stage where I can fight back, but when I’ve started the massages (After actually coming across you 4 years ago)…I’m now able to do them. However, my hair has shed like mad from doing them? Is this normal to lose a lot of hair when you start and how long does it take to grow back? Would appreciate your time and response. Thanks, Ryan.
Hey Ryan, they shouldn't evoke that much shedding! It also sounds like you might have a health history that related to telogen effluvium sheds (like in the case of severe or prolonged Lyme Disease). I would hold off on the massages, see a dermatologist for a full hair loss diagnosis, and consider interventions that have higher degrees of clinical support and/or don't leverage acute wounding as a mechanism. Please report back when you've got a diagnosis!
@@PerfectHairHealthis there a possibility bw connection of allergy and hair loss (inflammation stress) have read an article that allergy might malnourish the hair ( true for me cause I do have allergic rhinitis)
I had the same thing happen. I have an autoimmune condition and I wondered if my body was overreacting to the trauma. I would love for you to do a video on this topic. I know that you said it is normal to lose some hair when you do the massages, but what would be considered abnormal? And are there some people for whom massage is contraindicated?@@PerfectHairHealth
The best product in the industry is definitely oral minoxidil, topical can be bought otc ,but not as nearly as good as oral minoxidil, but oral is prescription only ,if that doesn’t work, time for hair restoration ,or hair piece
This is a great follow-on to a video I love of yours called "5 SECRETS The Hair loss Industry DOESN'T Want You To Know" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BGSPApDQnKc.html so I am keenly watching it!
I am trying to have a baby so I stop oral finasteride and start topical minoxidil. Could I use topical finasteride with no sexual side effects ? Thank you
It seems like, rob english has wig on his head or he never had hair loss, such a perfect hair cannot be gain once hair fall is started, anyone who feels difference after head/scalp massage
It depends: are you male or female? Over 18 years old? If you’re male and over 18, that combination is a great starting point and probably all you’d need to achieve some regrowth and stabilize hair loss for the next 10+ years. However, that’s just the starting point. There’s plenty you can do to level up treatment efficacy, like adding in oral + topical dutasteride (in replacement of finasteride) and topical retinoic acid + microneedling (to enhance the activation of minoxidil).

please reply Hi. Im taking 1 mg of finasteride everyday since 2 months. when i try to mstrb*te and im at the climax and is trying to ej*culate, the semen comes normally for few seconds then the e**jculation flow of semen is stopped for 1 or 2 seconds and then continues again at last for max 1 seconds. Means somewhere in between the pleasure and the flow of semen stops. What problem might be this. There were some sort of signs of ed before i took the medicine too. What problem is this. I could only find out in google it might be retrograde or dry ej#culation. Is it true? If so are there any solutions to cure it even without stopping the medicine or should i stop the medicine forever.
I get the skepticism. I retained my hairline but lost density in the presentation of female pattern hair loss - which is more globalized diffuse thinning. That makes it look different from standard cases of AGA.
@@PerfectHairHealth 3 years back I followed your advice and it worked !!! And seeing your videos I can relate all the things you say about hairloss from my own experience so thanks brother !
@@The_Voice_of_Reason748 Male pattern baldness not only affects temple areas but sometimes can only target the crown area or diffused thinning ! I have experienced all three of them .
