Let's talk about half-frame film cameras. Film and developing film can get expensive. This Olympus PEN-EE or the new Pentax 17 might be exactly what we need in these trying times. You call it half-frame I call it two rolls of film for the price of one. Shoot more think less.

I like the half frame format for when I'm travelling or on holiday, for taking more casual shots. Plus I like the native portrait format, it makes you think about composition in a new way, and it can also take a traditional landscape photo. Double the number of exposures for any given roll is a huge benefit in terms of cost and number of frames. I'm happy with the developers printing 2 frames on one regular photo, the smaller format doesn't bother me, takes up less real estate in my albums. There is no loss of resolution providing you don't enlarge them. If you need to, they can always be enlarged a little without any noticeable loss of quality. I have the Olympus Pen ee. I paid just £15 for it😊

I have a Pentax 17, I like the fact that I can get two rolls of Delta 100 and doing street photo without getting picky in the street

How’s the sharpness on that lens? You getting some good results? I wish I could try that thing out for myself.

Yeah! Don’t have to over think it when you have so many photos. Got enough frames for big establishing shots and accompanying detail shots.

Half frame may be half the area, but linearly it’s more like 3/4. The 18x24 frame is the same size as a micro four thirds digital camera sensor. I shot my first roll of half frame recently on a Ricoh Caddy. The results were very good. In general, all my photos end up on social media or in an album of 5x7 or 5x5. So the smaller size isn’t really a problem.

Yeah I had that thought. I’ve never shot micro four thirds but that’s kinda how I pictured it in my head for digital equiv.
