Adapted from the classic novel by Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid's Tale is the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly the United States. Facing environmental disasters and a plunging birthrate, Gilead is ruled by a twisted fundamentalism in its militarized ‘return to traditional values'. As one of the few remaining fertile women, Offred (Elisabeth Moss) is a Handmaid in the Commander’s household, one of the caste of women forced into sexual servitude as a last desperate attempt to repopulate the world. I bawled like a baby when I saw this episode. It must be so overwhelming to read that letter. Your wife and child are thought to be gone and dead and in the few seconds that she had to write, she didn't mention anything about her location or some plan to rescue herself. All she wanted was for him to know that she loves him and to save their daughter. Dear God the feels.

I don't get why people ship Nick and June. She clearly loves Luke and is hoping to get back with him and her husband, *WHICH NEEDS TO HAPPEN!* On another note, the actor who plays Luke is great and I really like his performance.

What I don't understand is why now in Season 2 Luke is just...doing nothing. Like, I thought we would start off season 2 with him working with some canadian team to figure out a plan to extract hannah and june, but all we've seen is him just lying about at home, moping about. The writers still haven't explained how the mexican contact knew June's real name and her relationship with Luke in the first place, which is frustrating.

Sure, but 1) What can he really do? He's just a civilian and a refugee. He has no power and no contacts, no special abilities that would make him of any use to an extraction team. Him 'lying about and moping' is a pretty realistic depiction. 2) The government have got bigger problems than one guy missing his family - the entire US is under totalitarian rule. Tens of thousands of women are in June's situation. If Luke does want to try and get Hannah out, chances are he'll have to go in alone or do it through another source. 3) This is 'The Handmaid's Tale', not the 'Handmaid's husband's tale'. The focus is predominantly on the women, which is right. So if Luke does make attempts to rescue Hannah, it will probably be as a side story, not the main plot.

I noticed at 0:28 the stars on the flag was outlined except one. Could it be Alaska? But Alaska was the 49th star on the flag so the location was wrong. Or it could be another state, but looking at the numbered states it doesn't make sense for the other options. Thoughts? (Edit: I know Hawaii is the other state that's free, but that was the 50th state so both should be at the bottom. Unless its for the cinematic view)

Nick and the Commander are just to keep the rest of the wolves at bay. She is staying alive and hopeful in order to reunite with Luke and Hanna. Who she initially thought to be dead.

Alex Frazier I know a woman who was at 14 got pregnant by her black boyfriend.
