I don’t know what a “pick me” is. I really don’t. I don’t understand teenage lingo. What I do know is that Women had little options pre 1970…especially with 9 kids. Katherine did however have plenty of opportunity to leave once the money was rolling in and she didn’t. She made her choices. She liked the status as the money that came with being in that family. Considering it was a famous black family…she knew the world was watching everything they did. She wasn’t going to Divorce no matter what. She threatened 2x to scare him and only separated once the kids were were much older with their own kids.

I think we also have to remember the timeframe. Why she may wanted to leave she may thought it would hurt her sons career. Being a JW probably didn’t help either. Also I saw a doc about the Jacksons and apparently Barry Gordy talked her out of getting a divorce

@@phillycheez6288 If you look at Michael before he had any surgery, I think he was on the road to look almost exactly like Joseph as he aged. Tito also looks a lot like Joseph. It is too bad because Michael was a handsome little boy. What ever he had done by the time Off The Wall was released, and especially by the time Thriller was released, he should have stopped with the surgeries.

It is really sad that it appears that there was no strong influence in MJ's life to tell him he looked great, and to PLEASE don't have more surgery. MJ said he regretted having all the surgeries that he had...SAD🙁

It’s crazy to say it now but the Jacksons were almost dropped by Epic before they released Destiny and Quincy offered to produce MJ’s Off the Wall because no other producer was interested.

I have been saying that. It’s all about the right producer. Michael had done solo albums before and they got average attention. No matter how talented Michael was…he didn’t break out until he teamed with Quincy. That’s just a fact. His brothers never had a “Quincy”.

The brothers didn’t have the stage presence, the work ethic or the it factor michael had simple as that and that’s okay. That’s what separated michael from his brothers, he was gonna be sucessful regardless Quincy or not.

The reasons why the Jackson’s faded away was because they didn’t have the stage presence or it factor. Quincy had nothing to do with Michael’s writing skills, performance skills, his stage presence and his vocal talent……Quincy was just a producer……Jermaine, Marlon, Jackie and the other brothers were good but Michael had the “it” factor hence why he replaced Jermaine as the leader of the Jackson 5. Just like how berry let Diana become the leader of the supremes, they had the it factor and rise ahead of their groups. It’s not Michael’s fault that the Jackson’s didn’t have the same hard work and perseverance. If you didn’t know Michael was co-writing and writing before and after Quincy. Now while Quincy sis play a part in Michael’s sucess it was Michael’s it factor that solidified it, something that his brothers didn’t have. You can say the same thing for Michael leveraging up Quincy’s status because no one would have know who he was if it wasn’t for Michael, yet everyone would’ve know Michael for the Jackson 5. Which is why this logic is ridiculous because Quincy barely did anything on those albums but produced. Bad album Mj wrote 9/11 of his songs and most of those were a hit sensation and Michael had the bad tour that topped it off. You can watch the victory tour and see the difference. Michael stuck out, michael had that hunger and drive that the others didn’t. Watch Jermaine performing is let’s get serious song and you would see why Michael went far and he didn’t. Michael also worked with teddy Riley and dangerous was one of the biggest albums during that period, had done one of the biggest superbowls and peaked as a creative artist. Yes Michael had producers & directors to help make his vision come to life but best believe it was Michael’s brain that did a lot of the work. Michael accomplished just as much in the dangerous era without Quincy’s help and the fame never faded away, did the tabloids turn against him? Yes but did he ever become less famous? No even when he was going through tough trials that Quincy was never there for so what does that say? Do me a favor and stop discrediting black artists. Michael did just as much as Quincy did especially on the bad album and he continued to accomplish more without Quincy and even in death so get your facts straight. Marlon could dance but the voice was not it, Tito was ok, Jackie was ok, Jermaine had a good voice but the stage presence was not there and it’s apparent with them performing I’m not dreaming together. Michael completely stole the show……
