I have finally expanded this video into a series of its own where I cover really hard Celeste screens and break them down to explain how they work and what makes them so difficult, so if you liked this make sure to watch my other videos like this one aswell! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IinLKqqDff0.html Also consider subscribing since I definitely wanna continue this series and make more videos like this one :3
@DonutMaster56 no geometry dash. That game becomes so much harder than it looks it's funny. Usually, timings that are 3 frames are considered almost easy on my level and I'm nowhere near the best.
@@Introlabeit would be at 60fps (so 1/20th of a second), usually frame windows in that game are assumed to be 60fps unless they say. Also, Fun fact: The 2nd hardest (beaten) level starts with a 180fps frame perfect, and the hardest has somewhere like 140+ frame perfects (at 60fps).
Stuff like this is fun to watch, but Celeste is a game with a super high skill ceiling. Having multiple rng subpixel obstacles to overcome seems completely against the spirit of Celeste to me and would just be torture to attempt. I am glad there are those who feel otherwise and put in the dedication to doing these insane challenges and explaining and showcasing them. Cause it is still highly entertaining. Thanks for the video!
well im excited to let you know then im working on kind of a sequal video to what is the new hardest screen which is the completely opposite of this and actually pushes celeste difficulty in a really good way
Amazing content. The wrinting was extremely clean and made for an entertaining narrative while still explaining extremely well how everything works. You have great potential, honestly impressed
Maybe it's because I was watching on my phone (as opposed to my TV, where I normally watch RU-vid), but I could barely understand what he was saying. Didn't even get past the 2 minute mark.
but parrot all you have to do is a half a frame input for the subpixel gaps :Clueless: great video thank you for being the 2nd good explanation on Subpixels ever
Parrot: thats... That's not how it works... Them: just increase your fps 2x. I.e. if you need 7.5 frames normally, do 15 frames with double the frames per second. Duh
it's crazy to see how dedicated and insanely skilled the Celeste community is. i would have honestly never expected it up until two days ago I thought it ended at B-Sides😂. I'm loving Celeste custom maps and content rn and this is definitely one of the best videos I've seen! keep tze awesome work up❤
@@arealhuman2409 true there are over 100 people to beat tartarus and over 2k to beat bloodbath, and if you consider that most people do them as a hardest, I'll take you up to 200 hours to beat them and tens of thousands of attempts
I remember years ago in the Celeste discord joking about the idea of a d1d7 being created. I use the search function and it turns out I am the second person in the entire server to have a message including 'd1d7', which makes me proud lol. It's great and terrible seeing this evil map come to life; I'm pretty happy that it exists.
Very good video, explanations are clear and concise and editing is on point. Didn't realise how much luck is required for that ending, mad respect to anyone who has the patience for that. Hope you consider doing more scripted videos in the future!
There is definitely another cool one planned for in the near future but dunno how common of a thing this will be since this was wayyyy more work than I ever expected it would be and its hard to find time for such huge video projects. Though all of the super positive feedback from everyone definitely has me tempted, thanks a lot
So it's a reverse of a buff and movement limiter of one of the hardest maps ever made by the most imfamous hard map maker. ...The Celeste community's masochism never ceases to amaze me.
yup, its a minimal changes reverse version of a super buffed limited movement version of a really hard version of the summit called 7d… its quite something lmao
Wow! I havn't played any celeste mods, but this video was written so well and you explained everything amazingly! I'm surprised that this video hasn't gotten bigger than it is.
it's funny how no matter how small a celeste youtuber is, they always make a great video. I always feel that they passed through the gameplay hell so editing a video is nothing grand
this screen is hard for all the reasons i dont want it to be lmao good job beating it, youve made me actually wanna break my controller doing some relatively forgiving wavedash hell level
woah i watched this thinking u were some massive youtuber but then i checked and saw this had under 1k views. mad respect and you just earned yourself a new subscriber
I'm a newbie who's long been interested in the high level side of celeste, but has only recently started actually doing so (currently working on the spring 2020 advanced heartside), and I have to say this video was both extremely cleanly put-together and very informing. Thanks for making, you've got a new sub!
this is a very detailed and engaging video! really kept me invested in something i'm never gonna accomplish LMAO but it also makes me appreciate the effort of how people were able to solve and perform it 1 very smol criticism i just have is that the music bg is a little too loud imo
When he beat it I at first thought his reaction was crazy, but then I realized I dont play most of my steam games for longer than he took to beat the screen
abuffzucchini, do you want to make a game jam game collab one day (maybe gmtk). I really really enjoy your level design skills. Would be nice to team up with one of the most talented people. I use TIC80, similar to pico 8
@@microdavid7098 ... I should probably mention idk how to code really, but I'm definitely interested! Feel free to shoot me a dm on discord if you wanna talk about it more!
This video was sick! So good to finally have an explanation on this screen, as I never really understood what all went into it. In terms of criticism, your writing is very solid and the music choice is great, but I think your narration is a bit too fast sometimes (I think? idk for sure) , and the music is a little bit too loud. Still an amazing video! I really hope to see more from you like this in addition to your stream highlights. I love all of it
yay someone explained that autoscroller blocks give you more precision control and that most of those are supposed to be buffered in the original map anyway and basically if you do it "right" every time then you still have a small chance of actually making it through
Absolutely loved the video. As someone who knows next to nothing about this kind of stuff you explained it perfectly and I easily understood the whole thing. I would really enjoy seeing more explanation videos like this, keep up the great work!
absolute banger vid, and one of two vids to finally get me to play Celeste. I understand it being a massive undertaking but it would be super interesting to see something similar for venus from lxvi or even some of the harder atone screens, even if its just a swear filled discord log or 3 am Google doc
man beautiful video, great editing flow and everything. ON THING please take more time while you record your voice-over, there is no rush, there is no one that is going to kill you in 5 second. Take your time, don’t stumble on your word, try to say clear sentences. I’m telling you this because you got potential, it’s just really hard to follow the video, next before doing the video try to send the voice over to someone for review, because you can understand everything obviously, but a new viewer isn’t as custom as you with your accent. Even worse (like in my case) the viewer may not be from an english speaking county. Everything else was great and really interesting, overall good video.
Good advice. I could barely understand what he was saying, and I'm usually pretty good at deciphering unfamiliar accents or unique speech patterns. I also like to think I have good hearing, and this isn't at all something I experience often on RU-vid. No offense to OP but I think his audio in general needs a bit of work.
Sounds like something That Friend would come up with "Bro if you jumped off a cliff into a pit of spikes, you'd die." "Nuh uh, there's a chance you'd avoid em and live! So you can't say it's guaranteed!" Poor Madeline
It’s when you do a hyper dash midair to regain your dash during the hyper. A hyper is where you’re on the ground and use a downright/downleft dash and then jump to gain hyper speed in the air. A wave dash is where you start from the air and input a hyper to gain hyper speed and regain your dash.
Awesome stuff! I was able to follow along with everything you said without rewinding too much, so that's a good sign. Furthermore, your editing was entertaining - especially the half frame joke was set up well. I do wonder if people who are somewhat new to Celeste (i.e. those who don't already know a couple of advanced strats) would understand everything on first watch, but maybe that's not your target audience, I dunno. Also, there was no volume warning at 10:18 😰
thanks! yeah looking back now this video for sure isnt perfect and there would be some stuff id change (including volume warning oops sorry) but yeah original intended target audience was people that knew about the room but not why it was so difficult, i still tried to make it as understandable as possible for people that just played the main game but that was quite difficult for something like this, im glad you enjoyed it though and thanks for the feedback !
Man im only just getting into celeste properly (I've just beaten farewell for the first time and got the moon berry recently) and this shit just is NUTS to me. Yet even though i have no clue youve explained it so perfectly and now i understand even if im never going to try this screen let alone the level for myself
its been a couple months since I first watched this video and it still randomly appears in my head. Great explanation of what is, in my opinion, one of the coolest things in Celeste.
Woah, this video got picked up by the algorithm lol, youtube recommended this to me. Great vid! If I may give some advice, the music was often quite loud over your voice, and at times it was hard to hear what you were saying. Maybe for future vids, could you turn the music down a bit?
Just tried to watch the vid but had to stop around the 2 minute mark because I just couldn't hear/understand what he was saying. Completely agree with your comment & advice.
i couldve done it in 6 frames (im joking this is the coolest celeste video i've ever seen its shocking this type of difficulty even exists and nice achievement)
Great vid, really great job explaining everything. my one issue is that you talk a bit fast and mumble a few words here and there but honestly it's not that big of an issue. Seriously cool stuff though, for real.
Recently started playing celeste, and I want to play custom levels after the base game. This video has me scared and somewhat excited for custom levels with a good challenge
98 hours on a single level, holy crap. The longest I've ever spent on a level (so far) was just 2 hours, I can't even begin to imagine what almost 50 times that amount would feel like
The fact that u talked at a relatively low volume for the entire video and put ur scream at the end... love that :/ Video was great otherwise but yeah thats not appreicated as a headphone user
Hey parrot im starting this grind and do you have any tips to not go insane, also thanks for making this vid its helped a lot during the learning process
Tell me Summoning Salt is your favorite RU-vidr without telling me Summoning Salt is your favorite RU-vidr: The Video. In all seriousness though, great video! Keep it up! :D
"The gap is so tight that 60 FPS limitations make it really stupid and RNG hard" reminds me of Geometry Dash It's a 1 button autoscroller game though so it's not very surprising to see this happening there unlike here
