Can we all just appreciate the beauty of these throws... Litvinov is just one of the greatest to ever do it! Hammer throw is the most underrated T&F event. It's so technical and complex and yet you need to be so strong and explosive... Any persons who knows about biomechanics would have to agree. Litvinov jr. Said the workout was complete BS btw. I guess he would know. Sergeij Litvinov pasted away last year, rest in peace!

Dan John was the first to write about this workout. He was told that it happened by former discus throw world record holder John Powell. John alleged to have seen it at the 1983 world championships. Dan spent the 90s and early 2000s experimenting with this and found that it worked best with a shorter distance of 200m and done with cleans, kb swings, or clean to front squat. And take as long as you want between sets.

The pills in the Ricky Bruch movie, isn't drugs. It's vitamins. It's not that he wasn't taking drugs, but he also was a firm believer in vitamins, and consumed extreme amounts

10:45 Ryan Kennelly (broke the multi ply bench record, way back) claimed to have gone up to I believe 4 or even 6 grams of all kinds of stuff during one prep. He did say, though, that it only made him puke all day and lose a lot of weight. He also made that claim in a short documentary style video for his court hearing (charged with distribution of PEDs iirc), so it may not have been entirely accurate and simply supposed to let him come across as an addict or something. Anyways, just thought that might be interesting to mention. The video might still be on YT, though. Might be an interesting watch to see what some people put into their systems.

Regarding Richy Bruch (rip), it was that amount of pills, but they weren't all different steroids he was talking about. It was vitamins, amino acids (be ordered from the states in the belief that they would somehow increase his natural gh and test) and of course some PEDs.

I think if you had an insanely strong guy with good conditioning it could be possible, as long as the recovery times are like 10-15 minutes between circuits lol. If someone had around a 270+ front squat max (185kg being under 70% of their max) and had good enough cardio to run a sub 55 second all out 400(75 seconds would be around ~70% effort) , then it could maybe be done, and those are generous estimates. That person would have to be a ridiculously strong athlete and would def have to weigh well over 100kg very lean. Say for someone 89kg, a 75 second 400m is not a very hard feat, a decent athlete at that weight should be capable of sub 60 and sub 55 if well trained in long sprinting. That being said if someone with those attributes had a front squat over 200kg (very impressive but not uncommon among elite athletes), maybe the rounds could be done with around 140kg. Overall, assuming for a 90kg athlete, I think an elite rugby player could pull off 3 rounds of 140-150x8 front squat + a 75s 400m run.
@sikastrength
@sikastrength 2 года назад
Blaine Mcconnel has done one round and he's around the 90kg I think. I don't think you need the 270 but obviously, it would help, you could get away with a 240 or so.
@Answeriz42
@Answeriz42 2 года назад
@@sikastrength just thinking in terms of percentages, since 185 is 77% of 240 their first set of 8 would be like RPE 8.5-9, then after the 400 not sure someone would be able to do that again. I’d bet they’d fail after 7 reps or possibly hit 8 reps RPE 10, and definitely not have the energy to do a 3rd round. Best case scenario to do all 3 rounds their max would probably have to be 250+ imo. It’s an interesting programming thought experiment.

I’d be interested to see you lads do an athlete spotlight on the rugby player Max Lahiff. He’s freakishly strong (posts a lot of gym vids on his IG), and suspiciously lean for a man just shy of 120kg and only 1.85cm. I’m surprised he hasn’t been popped tbh 😂.

I can probably do that workout but doing back squat, i can squat 185kg for 14 reps for a few sets. I am also a good runner. I could crush this hahah. My goals would be 220 kg x 8 squat followed by a 300m run in 33 seconds. 💪🏻

@dfitz5384 2 года назад
But that's with backsquats, not frontsquats. Also, the 300m world record is just over 36 secs, so you'd be smashing that by 3.86 seconds. That would be impressive....

@@HkFinn83 supposedly Karelin could do a 10 km run in under an hour, and zercher deadlift 500+ lbs for 3×12-15. If anything the 400 m would be easier than the 10k.

@@HkFinn83 the "Karelin throw" is essentially zercher-ing an unwilling 285+ lb dude and throwing him onto his own head. I'm not sure how you convert from unwilling flailing human to barbell weight, but it's gotta be a decent multiple.
