The HARDEST PART of Painting...

The most difficult part of painting or drawing isn't the work involved, dealing with mistakes, or learning advanced techniques. Although frustrating at times, it's all part of the process. And when things are going well it's a labor of love. The hardest part of creating art is actually the fear and the accompanying doubt that comes along with it. Fear not only of failure, but of what others may think of your work and ultimately of you. Within this video, I'll talk about how I deal with it and a few of the suggestions that I have. Always remember to keep your head up and continue working- every chance you get. I wish you way more than success.

Your "easy" tutorials/demos are, for me, always a good push to leave that fear behind and try, and paint, an do. Helps to not see everything so daunting

Spot on Mark. There are too many who derive enjoyment from trying to destroy others with hurtful remarks. For me, I’m of an age now that doesn’t give a stuff. I do what I do for me.

Your elaborations on motivation even though nobody likes the work came just at the right time for me - many thanks! It's really incredible to hear that you're getting trolled and hammed for your videos which are real pearls of wisdom (and you're giving them away for free!). Your content is among the best there is on the worldwide web on airbrushing and painting in general. "Always remember to keep your head up and continue working" - so true and so simple.

The day we stop learning is the day when you have 6 inches of fine grade soil and a patch of grass on us. Ive been at this for two or three years and i still am horible but i keep on trucking no matter what. I have got more practice stuff than paintings i actually love to practice more thqn anything can be doodling with the brush or just plain ole finger control. You are right 100% wwe are our own wors3 critic. so discourgement can be freaquent. If you pound right through you atually advance with out even knowing. Will always be a fan of yours Mark you are a good teacher.

I couldn't agree more with you more on this. Learning is probably the major source of fulfillment in life- it definitely is for me. I love practicing too. Something about just sketching or drawing something for yourself is a special thing to do and I'm at it constantly. Thanks so much for your very kind words Mark.

Yh good to hear this my last portrait didn’t turn out the way I wanted about quarter of the way through just had enough as it was my third attempt had to sweep outside to cool down lol but back on it doing another portrait preparing another canvas my job is an engraver of memorials so like you my work has to be as near perfect as possible never happy
@theartworkshop
@theartworkshop 3 месяца назад
Engraving takes so much skill! I'm sure a lot of that translate over to your paintings. Lots of observation and hand-eye needed. I agree, sometimes it's best to walk away from the painting for a while to cool down haha. I do it all the time!

Your artwork is gorgeous! And your explanations are so appreciated! I do have a question for you though. Can the Iwata Custom Micron Takumi that you're using handle Createx textile paint for T-Shirts?
@theartworkshop

thanks so much! I'm not all that familiar with textile paints so I won't be of much help. Reach out to createx because they are very helpful offer great support!

Great advice, and great information on using both opaque and transparent paints in a painting. Have you ever used transfer tape instead of frisket film, in an application where you cut the mask off of the artwork? If so, is it a viable alternative?
@theartworkshop
@theartworkshop 3 месяца назад
Thanks Louis. Yes, transfer tape is great. Lots of people use it and swear by it. I generally just stick with frisket film though.

Interesting.... I usually mix opaque paints from illustration colours and white, but recently used some of the illustration opaque line, which I found are not 100% opaque but don't get darker the more you spray. Have you tried any createx opaque?
@theartworkshop
@theartworkshop 3 месяца назад
interesting! No I haven't tried the opaque illustration line. Like you, I just add white to add some opacity but I've always loved golden high flow for opaques. They list the Opacity / Transparency of each color and include a paint sample of each color right on the bottle. It's so helpful.
@sararamer-dean7846
@sararamer-dean7846 3 месяца назад
Thank you! Have you ever used watercolour paint on the airbrush?
@theartworkshop
@theartworkshop 3 месяца назад
It's best to use an airbrush paint with an airbrush. Other paints might spray well but some pigments shouldn't be atomized because of toxicity (cadmium, cobalt, etc.). Not worth the risk. Stick with an airbrush paint like golden high flow or createx! Hope this helps.
