📰Excerpt from ‘Kobe Bryant Made A Reporter Do 200 Push Ups After He Bet That Kobe Could Not Make A Left-Handed Half-Court Shot’ article by Aaditya Krishnamurthy:
Kobe Bryant was one of the most fiercely competitive players in the history of the NBA. Kobe almost relished the idea of people underestimating him, as it put a chip on his shoulder that he used to motivate him and perform at the highest level. One reporter learned this lesson the hard way.
During a training session, a reporter challenged Kobe Bryant to make a half-court shot with his left hand, and if Kobe did, the reporter would have to do 200 push-ups. Kobe, to his credit, made the shot without being fazed at all. Bryant kept his end of the deal and then made the reporter do 200 push-ups or at least as many as he could.
Fans of Kobe Bryant knew that he wasn't going to miss the shot, even before he took the shot. Bryant had a mindset, unlike any other player in the history of the NBA, having unrivaled confidence in himself and his ability to make shots or take over any game that he was playing.

What Kobe has said is basically: "It's not a sprint, but a marathon" Hard work only pays off by doing it consistent over a long period of time. The moment you stop working hard, is the moment you stagnate and let others win. I'm not sure who it was, but I think it was Patrick Beverley who also pointed out how much of a hard worker Russell Westbrook really is. Only casuals won't believe it. And yeah LeBron obviously has to be a hard worker. His longevity and whole career is a true testament of hard work!

It’s much easier to work for a few years than to work for 10+ years straight so it’s no wonder there’s so few NBA greats relatively. At some point, certain players give up on working 100% as hard as they can, or they were never really working that hard to begin with. But, I know Kobe said that he didn’t know what he was doing was “hard work” until he came into the league. And that the hard work all starts with passion and curiosity. Kobe said that when you’re truly passionate about something you’ll have a constant curiosity, and the universe will guide you to the answers.
