Mine was trouble free until 12,000 miles the dealer failed to fix it 3 times. It took getting the MoCo involved with roper updating and finding a wiring issue. It then made it to 17,000 and the fuel pump started screaming. I took it in to a different dealer the fuel pump was on back order but they found the parts and had them overnighted and had me on the road in 3 days. It screamed for 2500 miles before I took it in. I’ve heard no reports of the fuel pump actually quitting. I’m at 22,000 miles now and love the bike. I have no desire for a traditional Harley cruiser or tourer now.

I have a 2022 PAS. I have had no issues that have left me stranded. But most of my issues have been with support for the bike than the bike itself. Like the battery thing. If I ride daily, I have no issues with the battery. Only when it sits and start it do I get codes. Here is the thing...no one told me to let the infotainment completely boot before running the starter!!!! This was HUGE. I let this thing sit for a week and it started up with no codes. The one time I forgot, and just like clock work, I got the BCM errors. Though now that I know what causes it, I just let the bike sit for a couple of minutes, restart i the right way and I am on the road no issues. Also, I take bad issues with a grain of salt. People that do not have problems are not most of the people posting. More people I know love this bike and have no issues. Most of the people I know that, traded them in, just traded up to a later model. If I rode more, I would probably trade mine in for a 2024 with all the fixes on it. But it is just not worth it for me to take the financial hit so I do not have to plug it into a charger. Lastly, there is never enough power from a motorcycle stator. I also have a 2008 Kawasaki Concours C14. I have burned out 2 stators on that bike. If I leave the bike on for more than a couple of minutes, it will not crank. When I go on trips, I have to keep a jump-starter on board. Sound familiar? Funny, this bike uses the same size battery as the Pan America. When I run stuff on it, I run a supplemental battery with an isolator/scr to take the load off the stator. Funny thing, the lastest model of this bike(2022) still has the same charging system. At least H-D beefed the 2024 PAS up a little.......

This video video should have more views. This is the best breakdown of issues that I have found without the emotional inout of an owner. Because harley pushed the release back I ended up buying a different bike and I am sort of glad. Waitng to hear rwports of how the newer generations perform.

The problem with lead acid batteries is that they must remain 100% charged, and must be maintained with a battery tender when they are not in service. If you keep them charged, they don't corrode. If you let the battery slowly drain down over a period of 4 months, when you park your bike in the fall, before you get a chance to winterize your bike, the battery will begin the sulphation process and the battery can actually be totally ruined from one winter of just letting the battery slowly drain down, because it will develop so much internal corrosion/sulphation. For some reason motorcycle batteries are by far the most fragile battery, in terms of not being able to handle long term storage. Using a battery tender would likely solve a lot of the Pan America problems. I've had to replace at least 6 motorcycle batteries before figuring out that motorcycle batteries cannot handle any sort of storage, not even a few months.

I like the Pan Am, I got a 2022 Special in March 2023, it has been fine. I do agree the battery is challenged, but this seems to have settled down, maybe improved with the latest software update? The only real problem I had was starter clutch, which they replaced with an upgraded unit, which may have improved the battery and starting issue.

Have 2023 Special.. did some mods..here and there including exhaust.. bike is the best riding bike I've owned and have had many, and still have a few. Plenty of bikes have issues.. check out the KTM like the 600 Enduro's, talk about fuel pump issues.BMW RS plagued with issues also. anyway.. not a fan boy of any brand. One of my favorite bikes to ride..

2022 PAS owner purchased new in June of 2022. As if Nov 29 2023 I am at 21,000 miles. Only issue was lower rad hose proximity to head pipe. I corrected that . And recently just after the 20,000 mile service the fuel pump got noisy. Dealer immediately ordered new pump. Got it in 7 days replaced it on 8th day in and out sevice. I have been on several long haul tours, commute to and from work daily 80 miles round trip. Coming to an end with winter. I absolutely love this bike. Its three bikes in one very versatile and comfortable. That being said I agree that if Harley doesnt eliminate the production induced problems they will kill the new machine at an early age. Its almost 2024. New machines are being built as of now. This bike is in its 4th production year. These issues should be a thing of the past by now. Havent heard much feedback on the 23s. Mine is early 22 production. I guess I lucked out and got one that was built correctly. Harley get your Sh$#t together or this is sure to fail.

It will only be a failure if HD gives up on it and it doesn’t evolve. Harley is maybe the slowest evolving motorcycle manufacturer out there but the typical buyer for the Pan Am has way too many choices, they aren’t going to go for a bikes that continue to have issues or doesn’t stay updated with the current tech that’s out there. Great video!

Not a good engine, terrible torque at low revs, the engine rattles like screws in a washing machine, and it was the jerkiest motorcycle I've ridden.

Yep, totaly agree with you! In my opinion it is indeed not a failure at all. Yes I had some issues with my PAS, but once solved ( thank you dealership), what a great ride! Things I would like to see improved on the next generation are; Side stand (location and independent from the middle stand), location of the TFT screen (higher), wind screen mecanic (more solid).

I lemon lawed my GS at 1,000 miles, I went to Harley to test ride the PA, they had 4, one was sold, the other 3? Not one of them would start so yeah, no thanks. They also felt ultra cheap, switches and levers felt like junk. Maybe put the HD motor in the BMW.
