This looks awesome I’m actually really excited to see this bike in person! I think it’s about time Harley made a move too keep up with competition and I believe this we’ll help save the company from dying. I have a 2017 Sportster myself and I can see this one parked right next to it.

When they come out with a Sportster S with taller bars it will be a complete package with bags would be nice to. HD had to get up to speed and stop hanging on to 1950’/1960’s technology with that shifting clunk, huge primary chain rotating in oil, rocker arms, and bottom end cams. Now with this new revolution max engine that will no doubt be bumped up a big for touring models , liquid cooling, full counter balancing, and less moving parts have been missing for a long time, also single oil fill and single oil plug draining is huge for service and you don’t have to turn your bike off on a hot day or break the law getting out of a traffic jam or slow traffic because of overheating. Lastly I think the radiator looks and blends in nice.

Harley finally makes a modern bike, rather than swapping paint colors on the same 4 models since 1977... Boomers are dying off, and with it, their core customer base and sales. They need something modern, and this is the start. Really wish they hadn't scrapped the Bronx. That bike would have been awesome.

@@PARTYONFOREVER They HAVE to do something. For the past 30 odd years HD has been marketing to the HOG community and pretty well ingnoring everyone else. I have seen a lot of bitching in this thread about "hipsters" buying $35k bikes and ruining riding for everyone. Etc. etc. I call BS. Aound here I see younger guys building Irons, Shovels, Triumphs and Evos. I say BLESS 'em! They're doing the work themselves! They are the ones keeping the spirit alive, not wannabe 1%ers. Just my own opinion, of course.

Those EVO Sportsters just looked cool without trying. They sound better too. If I had to get a new HD it be a softail standard. Still has the air cooled soul.

Your audience that thinks Harley Davidson should stick to tired cruiser designs doesn't understand that HD was on the forefront of innovation for the first 75+ years of existence. They survived at that point with government intervention on foreign bikes, not with tech improvement. Harley Davidson needs to get back to the forefront. People who only want the "old stuff" are not in the target market that can keep the company afloat. -A proud Softail owner.

i agree with everything you had to say bud. i'm riding old bikes. I don't give harley any money, so i can't judge them for moving forward in innovation and tech. I support it.

This is a great bike. The Panamerica is a great bike. Its not a retooled VROD. It was developed indigenously by HD in their Wisconsin hq's. It shares NO components with the VROD. I respect HD loyalists for sticking with the company. But sometimes HD can't win for losing with them. At some point you must move forward. This bike will sell. Mark my word.

I understand why Harley is going this route, this will for sure sell out to the younger hipsters with money. I'm a pre '96 Sportster fan myself, haven't had one in my rotating collection for a couple years. But what the hell do I know, my daily is a Victory Highball

its definitely fast!! its an awesome motorcycle. the traditional sportster has been around a long time they had to make a change, the iron 883 will still be made so why is anyone mad at all? keep up the videos!

One of the few things I appreciated about the BBO series was occasionally s builder would rip the engine out of something bizarre and build a bike. Rookie used a KTM motor, Matt Gotcha built a Vincent..... Just "What's a Box?" Level of vision and creativity. Inspired alot of dudes and dudettes.

Also, I agree with your take on this bike. One big thing to realize here...those HP/TQ numbers are in the same ballpark as V-Rod numbers, and if you have ridden one of those, think of this...this things is almost a hundred pounds lighter. Also, during the release video, there was a sneak peek of another version with a little fairing, red tank, and a similar rear fender to the Iron variants, and i look forward to it. The current version that was premiered wasn't meant to be the sales leader, it was meant to catch a lot of attention, and get people excited about the line, rather than the model.

As far as I'm concerned Harley can do whatever they want. I would NEVER buy one of their new bikes. I can go online and find 1995 Fatboy's for $5,000, 1993 Sportsters for $2,200, 1997 Softails for $5800. So thanks Harley, but I'm good. Harley sold out bikers along time ago as far as I'm concerned. But to each their own. Thanks for the review 👍

The old Curmudgeon's will whine and scoff at anything Harley does or doesnt. But they are not spending any $ so HD finally learned to stop listening. And why would they? Their 1990's softail or Roadking looks the same as the modern ones, nothing has changed so no need to upgrade. The Road Glide refresh was a HUGE success, as is the Pan America. A small sporty modern ride with big power will empty a lot of pockets, IF they can keep the budget close to reality.

good luck to all that welcome this bastard. I had a V-Rod with the revolution motor and I HATED it. Hated the power to rpm curve (most of all), hated always looking for coolant leaks, didn't like the sound. I just did not enjoy that bike AT ALL and couldn't wait to get rid of it.....I actually gladly traded it for a mid 90's EVO Electra Glide that had a blown rear head gasket , weak ignition system and a few wiring issues....i would make the same trade today, all day and I'm glad to be rid of that damn thing. I love riding my now refreshed Electra Glide all over the place....may even come your way!!!

It’s a fine bike if the bike you already ride is stock, but I just don’t see near as much chopability as the evos or any other Harley for that matter. Too much of a sport bike for me, and you can’t chop it!

The specs on this are like my 2013 z1000, i used to own. That bike ripped. This Sportster S and the Fatbob are the only Harleys I would own.

Imo opinion its not a sportster, its a new bike, so should drop the name. HD needs to have a look at triumph and how they have there classic looking bike and newer stuff. Not a fan of its looks, but probably looks nicer in person

The Sportster had a good run as its former chassis/motor setup. It was probably time for a refresh but i do agree that it's quite a different bike. I'm stoked to get on one and ride it sometime. All in all, i'll stick to the older stuff but i'm glad to see them making moves.

Interesting. So I actually put money down on this bike 8 hours ago and I always scoffed at Harleys.I have spent seven months watching every ride review on cruisers but never looked at a Harley. You want your air cooled bike with minimalistic tech, fine. I want a modern cruiser. For you to get your bike that only Harley die hards want, they need to interest a guy like me to keep the company alive. It is actually a good bike compared to the modern market, slightly overpriced but nothing else really sits in that price range right now with the same features. So I signed the contract, sight unseen, on a bike that no independent reviewer has ridden. Go figure.

haha! heck yeah dude. i respect your commitment to jump in with faith. I'm all for the new tech and pushing the MOCO towards the future. I personally and a poor dude riding old cheap bikes but i like watching the progression from the sideline. Thanks for the opinions and info. Definitely targeting the millenials and zoomers who were never HD peeps anyway. I can see the reason behind it, but they really need a stripped down entry level cheaper sporty to satisfy their lifelong customers. I'd much rather buy a used iron 1200. Dig your channel tho.

I dont think it looks like a VRod, but I was shopping for a VRod just a few months ago when I decided on the bike I daily now. So, I'm pretty familiar with the phenotype of the VRod. Looks more like a FAT Bob to me.

I heard a good one recently: (Harley riders) look like every 45 year old Dad at Disney World. …I guess because I’m a younger guy with a Harley that doesn’t wear an XXL shirt, jorts and newbalances with white tube socks, I’m a “Hipster” according to the “Harley community.” Anything I can do to piss off the “J.D powers and associates” age group of Harley Riders, I apparently do just by existing.
