Sometimes life on a farm in Portugal brings us closer to the harsh realities of Mother Nature, and this week is one of those weeks when homesteading just feels a little bit hard. We welcomed our first clutch of chicks, but sadly it wasn't all good news, and there was a fair amount of heartache involved.
