Carr breaking his leg in the 2016 christmas eve game was the beginning of the end. That season was the last time he actually played like a potential star. Here we are 7 years later and its been season after season of "if he just had weapons, if he just had a defense, etc etc" Its Carr....hes not very good.
WRONG!!! That was the one and only year that Carr had a top 5 Offensive line. Look at the Eagles for the last 2 years. Everyone talks about Hurts being in the talk for MVP and yet he is not that good. He is a game manager and an average QB at best. He has a habit of holding onto the ball too long when on a pass down. Why are they doing so good then? Flat out, they have the best O line in the NFL. In fact, look at the 8 teams with the best records and 7 of them have the 7 best offensive lines. The one outlier is the 49ers. Their O Line is ranked 13th but they happen to have Trent Williams at left offensive tackle who is the best in the NFL protecting Purdy's back side. They also have the best blocking tight end in Kittle, which is why McCaffrey is so productive running left behind those two. The Saints line ranked 5th WORST in the NFL. Carr isn't getting even 2 seconds to pass. Even though they have the 7th rated Offensive line have you not noticed that the Chiefs have lost 5 games and that Mahomes production has fallen off. They like to blame it on dropped passes but the truth is, Mahomes is running for his life and the games they have lost is because of tough defenses with ferocious pass rushing defenses. The dropped passes are because he's throwing on the run and the passes are inaccurate, come in too hot, because they are innovated receivers aren't ready and passes arrive too early, etc. Ever wonder how Mahomes would do on this team? He'd suck. Notice too that Kamara's run production is poor too. Is that because he's an average runner at best? When are you arm chair football fans going to point the finger at the real problem?
As a Raider fan we had 9 years of this same conversation 😂 dude is average at best and because he’s a “good dude” people take offense when u call out his bad play. His fan boys are a strange group lol . We were told he had everything he needed with the Saints and look it’s the same problems lol
Carr was never gonna take the raiders to the Super Bowl because it always felt just a bit out of reach with him at QB. Good games sprinkled with really bad games.
You didn't notice anything wrong! You both are totally right. Car does not know how to take a hold and Lead an offense. He said it himself in the press conference and did it in the game. It's a lot different when you don't have to worry about getting certain players their certain amount of catches. He's been focusing and staring down his receivers trying to get them their catches. Without without those who are considered to have to have catches on the field he looks better spreading the ball around getting off his first look. And you also have to notice that he had a lot of time back there due to the offensive line standing up for once. Everyone thought I hated Derek Carr when no I hate the fact that he has to deal with Pete Carmichael ineptitude at offensive play calling and his accuracy is up and down. The combination is the trash that we've been seeing as of late.
Carr folds in the pocket or makes the head scratching throw OB. He doesn't extend plays well. Great QBs make something out of nothing. Carr makes nothing out of nothing. He's a solid citizen and can move the ball but he's not a $150 mill QB. As a Raiders fan all I can say to Saints fans is get ready for the losing post-game pressers. Allen +Carr = mediocrity.
The problem is, people took it really personally, and for good reason because he seems like a really likeable guy all the time, when Jameis never got a shot at his job back when he got injured. You can justify that with elite QB play, like when Tom Brady became a starter or Tyrod Taylor's seemingly whole career sadly, but it's much harder to justify it when the player isn't significantly better than the guy he is replacing. And because it was taken so personally, it's become very polarized because average is still good enough to defend, but not good or bad enough to win the argument on either side. And worse, it's a very toxic kind of personal that the team, the city, the country even to be hyperbolic for a moment, really doesn't need. Very much reminds me of the, ironic complete reversal of the sides, polarization between Aaron Brooks vs Jake Delhomme when I was a kid.
Kamara is an “Elite Proven Rb” That averages 55yds a game and has 5 tds. If Carr was a running back with those numbers would it still be ELITE?!?! 🤡s. Carr derangement syndrome.
So, Ur conclusion on D. Carr, is the same as most and that he is and isn’t his own best/worst enemy. Also, he always will be D. Carr, so it’s safe to say that if U look at his career prior to NOLA; he’s playing the same as he always has. Which U labeled perfectly, he’s just ‘pretty average’, what can U do.?
…and as U also stated, Carr can be good, but can be bad too, as is anyone. Despite the Coaching Staff, the team as a whole are as he is: average. The W/L ratio shows that (7-7), but I believe if ‘the team’ as a whole continues to develop the knowledge of one another’s strengths & weaknesses, they can overcome their own shortcomings.
Spot on bro 🙏. I feel as if many people have extreme takes on Carr. Some feel like he’s perfect and nothing is his fault while others feel he is the sole problem.
@@kebeannn971 (🤦♂️ guess I have to be ‘that guy’) When anyone who blames everything on a single player of a team based sport, they need to… 🤔, grow up! ‘Team Sport’ summarizes that the fault can’t be one player alone and on top of that, they (the team) still have others that play a role as well (Coaching staff, etc), that needs to be considered when it comes to ‘any’ teams Ups and/or Downs. And until any team (staff included) are on the same page, vibing, gelling, etc, progress will be slow if there’s any at all. IMO 🤷♂️
In Carr's defense, he has been injured and knocked out of a game while playing another game while obviously compromised. So Carr has not "just been bad."
He is talented, but decision making on developing routs is spotty. I think he is an average to above average qb overall, but can be a star when in a rythm Is he an upgeade over dalton yes? Is he a star player, no. With good dynamic play calling and improoved run game, they can definetly get into the playoffs.

Carr hasnt been a leader this year. He has been more of a youth paster. Screaming at Olave when he was running a clear out route (Olave did this job) and then Carr tried throwing to him lol. Saints fans are used to Brees. Us Saints fans really didnt know what we had (HOF QB, Leader, and basically a OC). I really would like to see the entire coaching staff gone, Saints draft JD5 and let him sit behind Carr. But I know it wont happen lol.
The Carr Saints fans saw is the Carr Raider fans saw for 9 years with the exception of 2016 and next year if Carr is still the starting QB nothing really is going to change and these Carr groupies will continue making the same old Carr excuses! MARK MY WORDS! 💯
Olave misses routs drops passes hate how carr gets all this heat . He’s never been a runner he’s a classic pocket passer and the saints line sucks as well as play calling .
Immobile QBs will not get the job done in the modern NFL. You have to be able to move in the pocket or make a crucial run on 3rd in short to be able to be seen as a competent QB now

The ability for a QB to be able to extend plays and make keys first downs are improved with running ability. Theres a reason the top QBs in todays game have that ability. And if you dont, like Stafford, you better be able to read defenses and elevate the guys around you, like Stafford. Carr aint none of that. If you want a stone age poney running your offense, go back to 2010
All this "likability" about a guy that will throw his teammates under the bus at the first sign of adversity. It seems pretty obvious that the Saint's players are over his act. Truth is Derek Carr is and always has been an average to below average QB at best that shows elite traits every now and then and fools you into thinking there can be more. That has been his story for 10 years now. At some point his weird fan base has to get tired of defending him, but then again, leaving a cult is not easy.
You folks just don't get that Football is a TEAM sport. Currently you have the 5th WORST Offensive line in football. All QBs need 2.5 seconds. Carr is getting less than2 and has pass rushers come freely at him full speed. No QB can do well under those conditions. The teams with the top 8 records have the top 7 Offensive lines. The one outlier is the 49ers and theirs is the 13th ranked O line, but they also have the best left offensive tackle in Trent WIlliams who protects Purdy's blindside, and the best blocking tight end in George Kittle and that is why McCaffrey is so effective when he runs left with Kittle and WIlliams leading the way. The Chief's line has had trouble protecting Mahomes this year against teams with ferocious pass rushes and they've lost to these teams. They nearly lost to the Jets because of their defense and narrowly won only because the Jets have no offense. Put him on this Saints team and you'd be saying he was average at best. Jalen Hurts with the Eagles was in the conversation for MVP until their 3 game losing streak. Hurts is an average QB, a game manager, at best, who has the luxury of playing behind the absolute best line in the NFL Hurts has a habit of holding the ball too long because he CAN behind that line and yet his stats are mediocre. He's thrown only 19 TDs versus 12 Ints., and will be lucky if he breaks 4,000 yards passing at his current pace. Carr behind the sieve of an O line, has passed for 19 TDs with only 8 ints. Hurts, who has been healthy all season, is averaging 238 yards passing per game at a 65.7% completion rate behind the best O Line in football. Carr is averaging just a hair under 230 yards per game and that is after being knocked out of three games by shitty blocking on the O line and playing injured. Carr's completion percentage is at 67.4%. Hurts' QB rating is 89.9, Carr's is 93.6. Do you get it? Carr had a top 3 offensive line ONCE in his career with two healthy good receivers and that was in 2016, the year he posted a 12-3 record before breaking his leg and missing the last game of the season. So here we see Carr playing BETTER than Hurts and Hurts is in the conversation for MVP but Carr is "average" at best. Sorry fellas, but you are blind. Here's the last stat I'll throw at you. Carr in his 9 years with the Raiders engineered 34 game winning drives, the most in NFL history for a QB in his first 9 years and the best in NFL history for ANY QB in 9 consecutive years. Peyton Manning is closest if you take 9 straight years plucked out of the middle of his 18 year career. Manning had 33. And Carr did it with crappy Offensive lines, 6 new head coaches and like numbers of offensive coordinators in those 9 years with having to learn new systems and saddled year after year with only one reliable healthy receiver except the 2016 season: Jordy Nelson 2018, Waller 2019 and 2020, Renfro 2021 and Davante Adams 2022, but those crappy O lines in 2021 and 2022 ranked around 18th, WAY better than the Saints 28th this year. Trowel in that Raiders defenses never escaped the bottom 10 defenses, speaking of which, where has this much vaunted top 5 defense the Saints were supposed to have. This last Thursday Carr threw for 319 yards, 27 of 40 passes, THREE TDs and 1 int, scored all 22 of the Saints points but the "great" Saints defense gave up 30, lost the game for the Saints because they had the pass rush of bunnies and kittens because Stafford is not mobile at all and when not pressured he will carve up defenses like a Thanksgiving turkey. You talk about the Saints' offense not doing good in the red zone, but what about the defense also not doing well, giving up far too many points in the red zone. So, arm chair fans, you've been schooled. Football is a TEAM sport. Blame Carr's sacks on the shitty O Line. Blame Thursday's loss on a mewling pathetic mouse of a defense that allowed 30 points. Blame Kamara's poor running stats on that same crappy O line. 19 yards in 9 carries? Pathetic!!! STOP blaming Carr.
