One of my favorite paintings. The details are outstanding. My art history professor has always claimed that they aren't "monks stripped down" but skinny dippers. Considering that Bruegel was quite the prankster, I believe it. Plus, it's a funnier interpretation.

Why is this voted down? I don't see anything wrong with the analysis of this painting.

This painting is great but why the image is so distorted and the colors so dull? Why are the movements of the camera so unimaginative? I was in front of the painting and it looked much more vivid.

The Harvesters by Pieter Bruegel the Elder is a great work of art. The video is quite nothing ! even, instead of rendering the beauty of the moment of rest by these peasants, and showing how nature is beautiful, and how the beauty of nature which is humanized by the agriculture, the naval industry, etc ... is a kind of microcosmos in which human beigns are living better. The video is creating a kind of commercial effect which does not suit at all which the spirituality of the painting.

1:49 this painting is from 1565, El Bosco painted his Garden in 1515. This is not "the first modern landscape in western art" at all

@MATAtheFIRST 2 things: beauty is in the eye of the beholder & nowadays, you can take a picture of fickle matter and it would be called art and innovative.

I personally believe that these supposed art experts do a marvelous job in letting people who see this painting The Harvesters by Bruegel understand completely where they are coming from as they describe this master piece. People can hear with their own ears how ignorant these art experts really are and show them why when going into these places where the paintings are hanging, they would just a soon these people with their great knowledge keep their distance.

I would laugh if paintings ment nothing like every one keeps saying all these fancy things about inner deep ness of the painting or what ever but it would funny to have the actual artist just say they were high or just and thats why the painted this

Aw shut up. If art was indeed seen as a waste of time, money and resources people wouldn't want to give millions for one painting. I am not an art specialist, and never will be. But we must appreciate these works for their historic value and the thought the painters wish to express by painting it. If you can't appreciate these kind of vids just don't watch them. I am sure you'll find something much more educating on youtube (if you look hard enough).
