I kept thinking the same thing lol Common mistake due to the spelling. I know several Mavis’ though. Omar the coins are a sign of respect to our vets. A coin left on a headstone lets the deceased soldier's family know that somebody stopped by to pay their respects. If you leave a penny, it means you visited. A nickel means that you and the deceased soldier trained at boot camp together. If you served with the soldier, you leave a dime

I love Cades Cove , we live in Tennessee and we go every year and we learn something new everytime we go. There's another cabin that's not in Cades Cove that's called the Walker sisters and it has an interesting story about it. So glad you enjoyed our beautiful mountains.

I happen to live 2 hours from the cove and having been there literally hundreds of times in my life I can absolutely tell you for a fact that the last cabin you guys were in at the end of the video is actually the Henry Whitehead cabin/home...also of interest is the fact that the 1984 made for TV movie called "The Dollmaker" which starred Jane Fonda was partly filmed in the cove.
