People say "this isnt hill house" but it still has that same magic that HHH had. The focus on acting, the care put into every shot, and the monologues, god the monologues. Just superb writing. That's what made me love HHH and it's why I love HBM.

What I've noticed the most from people who didn't like this season is that their only reason for not liking it is "it wasn't scary enough.; it didn't have enough jump scares." Why does that have to be the ONLY indicator of a good season of this show? There was so much more to this season than being scared or having jump scares. It isn't what this season was about. I won't go into detail because of spoilers, but I'm sure you know what I mean.

Pay attention to the direction. why certain things are in focus. in first ep example w/o spoilers, when she's in kitchen at night it focuses on water dripping from sink. and dialog, now knowing what you now know, it's like watching for first time.

I've seen quite a few people saying they didn't like Bly Manor. I think it's because they were expecting something like Hill House which this is not. Bly manor is told like a Gothic Romance and it has a much more intricate story than Hill House did. I think it gets really good in the second half of the season so just stick with it and make sure you pay close attention to everything!

I liked the first half the most because in the second they just made entire episodes with dragged out monolouges that had nothing to do with the story and the ending was just bad. But glad you liked it at least. Also i think the trailer was a bit misleading because it made it look like a horror show when there was almost no horror in it

@@brixcer5681 I personally think the trailers are usually the issue with the anthology series. A lot of people thought Hill House would be some James Wan jumpscare fest when it wasn't, the same as this. Hill House had supernatural elements intertwined with its main focus: grief; here, it's regret.

@@cainyourkids Bly Manor had a theme that Memories are the real ghosts. There are many such instances, like being tucked away, dream hopping between different memories, the fact that Owen's mother had dementia is also not a coincidence. I hope that the trailer had a monologue like opening kinda like the trailer for Hill House did(Nell and Luke were telling the mother about what tragedy lays in their future so that she can wake them up).

I'm very happy they kept the same piano scores of Hill House in some of the scenes. Also I think the Haunting's anthology will be mirroring American Horror Story for what concerns production and cast through the seasons.

I think it's always the case with Mike Flanagan's works, which have such complex plot with layers and layers of substance that it all makes a million times more sense watching it a second time knowing what you do about the plot! I totally agree with this!

My first thought was that the kids were acc protecting her by locking her in the cupboard. Flora mentions that she should stay in her room so that the lady in the lake doesn't see her, then she sees muddy footprints from outside leading inside. I'm thinking that was definitely the lady in the lake.

That’s what I think. You may be ahead of me, but i was waiting for them to figure out that maybe she pissed off the lady in the lake. It was prob heading towards her or would’ve found her in the nanny room. The kids may have saved her

@@TheNecroFisherman when the doll is under the dresser the Lady is in the lake snd people are safe to roam. When the lady is anywhere else it means she is prowling that night and is not safe. Dani tripped over the doll that night meaning that the Lady was going to be out. The dolls move around as a warning system will the help of the little boy ghost.

You wondered if anyone was staying in the house overnight with the kids before Dani was hired. Lol. Yes. Hannah the housekeeper has a bedroom in the house. I feel like she was both Housekeeper and nanny to the kids during those 6 months. Which is a lot to handle, so the cook stepped up during the daytime to help look after the kids as well. Hopefully they got paid well doing the extra work to care for these weird children. 🙃

22:24 - if you mean the figure in the extreme foreground her first night, it is a medieval plague doctor who had numerous hidden background moments this episode. As far as I know (haven’t finished the series) they are just reminding you they are doing this again. This one even shows up in one of the paintings during the opening credits!

I just finished this season. I think people should go in with the knowledge that this is a completely different story, seems most people are expecting Hill House Pt2. Bly Manor is it's own story and a really beautiful one at that. (I'm still crying) I think it's a great successor to Hill House and I'm actually glad it wasn't as scary as hill house.

Watching American Horror Story gets you used to not tying an actor to a character. Good actors will make you forget who they used to play BUT the character that sticks out the most is who you'll refer to them as. Evan Peters from American Horror Story will always be Tate to me. 😁 I wonder what you guys' filming schedule is. No way could I do only one episode a week when the whole series is right there. I marathoned the entire season in one day. I tried to stop after episode 7 but NOPE. Had to know what happened at the end...

The "brown figure" is a plague doctor in his bird-like mask. He's actually more present in the background a lot if you look closely. You'll see the silhouette the curve of his mask's "beak" and his hat. Something I only picked up watching this reaction is his presence in the bathroom on Dani's first night there. We see Flora walking Dani's doll across the dollhouse bathroom and the plague doctor's doll is there. But you can actually see him behind the bathroom door and in the mirror as she turns off the light.

Lots of references to hill house here, included... a muted one. A scene where Victoria Pedretti (who makes Dani, in Bly and Nellie in HillHouse) walks on the night going to the kitchen, she has her neck "bent".. or at least the head... Welll... I heard the 4th season is coming with Mark Hamill from Star Wars (Luke Skywalker... may the force be with him on this one lol). And its based in a Poe short story, the Fall of Ushers Solar..

Mike Flanagan reused several actors from Hill House. Luke, Theo, and Nell, and their father from the flashbacks. Theo (Kate Siegel) is actually Mike Flanagan's wife, and has been in almost everything he's ever made (Oculus, Hush, Gerald's Game, Hill House, Bly Manor, and Midnight Mass). Henry Thomas (young Hugh Crain) and Carla Gugino (Olivia Crane) were both in all three of his Netflix series (Except the Midnight Club). Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Luke) and Victoria Pedretti (Nell) are both in Hill House and Bly Manor. His upcoming series (The Fall of the House of Usher) has Kate Siegel, Henry Thomas, and Carla Gugino once again.

Bly Manor is less scary than Hill House in my opinion but just as beautiful. It explores love, pain, trauma and loss and they did it again with hitting you in the feels. Just as beautiful and heartbreaking

The other obvious anthology series that uses recurring cast members in different roles is American Horror Story, which you might enjoy. It’s a bit more over the top and goofy, but it’s still a lot of fun.

Another scary anthology series is American Horror Story. There are 9 seasons so far and each season is a different story. It's on Netflix now. Really creepy, scary, and has everyone saying WTF ? while watching. Lots of the same actors in each season but playing a different character, quality actors and writers as well. My favorite seasons are season 2 titled Asylum, and season 5 titled Hotel. It's fantastic!!

I've only watched one episode so far. Don't forget about the hidden ghosts! I saw quite a few in the first episode. I did have to rewind to see a few though once it clicked in my head that Hill House liked to add them.

The best version of The Turn of the Screw in my opinion is the old 1961 version "The Innocents" give it a watch if you ever have the chance.

the lake lady was already walking (if the lake lady is under the cabinet she's is in the lake but if the lake lady is anywhere except under the cabinet the lake lady is outside their door) so they're trying to protect her from the lake lady

Bly Manor has a complete different....tone compared to Hill House. That doesn't mean there are not a lot of references to it.

Actually, up until the mid-19th century most ghost stories were set in then-old castles and the like. When DRACULA and other stories were published Victorian mansions were brand spanking new, the most modern of modern homes.

The only other anthology that uses same actors for different roles that I know of is American Horror Story. I think it’s a cool touch that they keep on original actors for different roles. This one works especially because it’s a story being told. So it’s like they could use anyone to Portray the characters

just finished bly mannor and I just gotta gush over how much happiness I'm feeling after watching such an amazing show, horror is my favorite genre, and to see such a sophisticated, poignant show being given the praise it deserves and horror in general making a comeback over the past few years after so many years of shitty generic horror movies. The last few years have been amazing for horror fans. Directors like Jordan peele, robert eggers, ari aster, and mike flanagan have given new life to horror and I'm just so happy lol, thanks for another masterpiece !!!!!. to anyone reading this hope you have a great day, love yourself, and be happy, I'm so happy I love this show !!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi guys, I've been waiting for this reaction videos & of course your reaction videos were Simply Splendid! So the Big Eyes Shadow Person Danny is dealing with, is what we call in the Paranormal Field an "attachment" something she did that made that spirit attach to her, all kinds of emotions can attach a spirit to you, depending on how emotional you are when you attempt communication with the spirit! However its the Intelligent Hauntings that have that attachment possibilities! while Residual Hauntings Do Not.

remember to look for ghosts in the background seems like you've already missed a couple, they always appear like in one shot and are gone in the other, look at the dolls and you know what to look for, they're blurry but they're there

We won’t focus on looking for ghosts. If we see them we see them. We don’t want to get lost ghost hunting. Focus will be on the story. Plus, our setup makes it very hard to see everything
