No this is wrong I think??(not being hostile) but the only reason why spirits couldn't leave bly was because of Violas stubborn gravity right? And that "curse" was lifted when dani invited viola in? Then again maybe with both Dani and Viola dead maybe the gravity is reinstated? But I dont think they would have gone with this ending bcs of their decision to exclude the red room window from the ending if hill-house to give the characters a happy ending, I feel like they would have as much or maybe even more reason to let Dani and jaime have a happy ending too, especially with how much Dani sacrificed, so selflessly. Idk tho you could be correct but I think that Dani was able to contain viola, she died a far more peaceful and controlled and rational death then Viola so I feel Dani could keep her at bay she may be strong enough to keep viola at bay and live her ghostly make belive afterlife with jaime too.

My question IS, how did the Wingraves survive the years Living at Bly Manor WITHOUT ever crossing the PATH of Viola’s deadly “walks”…? HOW? The children were OBVIOUSLY too young to recognize the ghost of Viola for their first few years. So who protected them? The mother had a late night affair which would have put her in great danger of Violas “awakening”. AND..where did Mrs. Wingrave sleep? Was it the same room that once occupied Viola and where she takes her nightly strolls? So why didn’t Viola ever kill Floras mother? I’m just so confused😭

What I don’t understand is how jamie looks so much older by flora’s wedding. They show her when Flora is 17 and she looks nearly the same and I’m guessing Flora was maybe 25 at most when she’s getting married. That’s only an 8 year difference. Lol her age progression literally makes no sense.

@miachen5580 3 года назад
Ok so a lot of people assume the wedding took place in 2007 bc it's 20 years later after the event. That would also put Flora at 28 years old, which is a pretty common age to get married. I saw somewhere that Dani died in 2000 bc she died the day after Jamie came in with their civil union, which was legalized for same sex couples in Vermont in July 2000. Jamie was complaining about long lines, indicating it was rather soon after the legalization. So if Dani died in 2000, 13 years after the events of bly manor, she was probably around 35 at the time. This can put her at the same age as viola when she died, which is why I'm thinking 35 because maybe there was some hidden meaning. Assuming Dani was the same age as Jamie, we can put Jamie at 35 in 2000, then at 42 in 2007. So it's not a horrible stretch, although the graying hair and wrinkles are still a bit iffy.

@UltimateBrofist13
@UltimateBrofist13 3 года назад
As for the second part of your question, I think the ghosts have a choice on whether their bodies can be physically interacted with or not. Peter pretends that he can't be touched so that Rebecca gets convinced about his plan, and she herself uses this tactic later on. Similarly, the lady of the lake carries flora physically WHILE walking right through Hannah, hinting at the fact that it's something the ghosts can control.

I think it might have something to do with realising they are dead. Hannah seemed mostly physical until she always recalled being dead. So possibly when Viola was carrying Flora and they passed through Hannah, it’s because “they” passed through Hannah as opposed to Hannah passing through Viola. Viola has become somewhat a mindless ghost, so doesn’t have the acknowledgement that she is dead. Which is why she can physically interact with things. That’s the only way I can think of. I don’t think Peter actually intentionally passed through Rebecca to trick her (although it wouldn’t surprise me if he did) but Peter seemed to be the only one that was always conscious of being dead. Which again I go back to the idea of knowing one is dead determines how they end up being able to interact with the world. But also I think they must be able to control it to some extent. Again, possibly after they realise.

Because by the time that Peter left Rebeccas body, she had been breathing in so much water that by the time she realized it, as she was being tucked away again in and out, it was too late. Peter left her body at the last few moments, so Rebecca died alone. Dani walked into the lake with both herself and Viola, who had not yet completely taken over Dani’s body. Dani did not want to give Viola the opportunity. The last straw being that she almost strangled Jamie while they were asleep, thus why Dani walked herself into the lake to trap them both there, no one could be harmed by them.

It's very difficult to explain how she held stuff and was visible to people but I've heard of two theories: 1) she's in denial about her death so it maybe just doesn't affect her like it does others 2) Hannah actually dies the night Peter is executing his plan thingy and the entire finale happens. The scenes with her memories happened right after she died. (But this doesn't really add up because we could see various instances where Hannah would just vanish and act lost and stuff)

@seraeggobutterworth5247 3 года назад
@@manvysings It’s the first; she’s been dead since a few moments before Dani arrives at the manor in the first episode. Don’t forget that Peter could simply hold Flora’s Lady of the Lake doll immediately after he was killed; it doesn’t fall through his hands until he realizes he’s dead. Also, we’re told that the dead are in a constant state of forgetting at Bly, effectively jumping around through time between past memories and present events, which explains why Hannah is so frequently disoriented and complaining about being in a mental fog. Hannah seems to be especially deep in denial about her own death-maybe due to the circumstances, since she believes she’s been murdered by Miles-and consequently she’s able to physically interact with what’s occurring in the present whenever she’s not tucked away in her memories. That’s why, on the night when Peter is executing his plan to take over the children, he brings Hannah back to the well. His goal is just to remind her she’s dead, because that’s the best way to render her incapable of interfering with his and Rebecca’s actions.

I can't be the only one that is still wondering how the wind Graves were never aware of the lady in the lake. She left muddy footprints, and not to mention if any of them were awake in the room at night to get water or go to the restroom they would get choke slammed to death. I understand that they didn't live here all the time, but I mean at one point she had viola in the bedroom with her when she was born (again i understand she wasn't the size of her daughter). But I feel like the is a very convenient pothole. Anyone got any takes?

I had the same thought. How could that be their main bedroom but they never encountered viola ?
@joanski786
@joanski786 3 года назад
My sister and I discussed this just today. Viola kept visiting her daughter's room. In the beginning of the show, they said that part of the house was closed off. The house was fairly large so Flora and Miles might have been in other rooms in the house. Viola only knew one route, from the lake, up the stairs to her daughter's room. Over time she would forget why she was even there and turn back around. As long as no one was in her path, no one got killed. That's why they wanted Dani to stay in her room at night. The muddy footprints weren't there every night because it is possible that Viola did not wake every day. Hannah mentioned that she just had to mop the floor 2 weeks ago. They always assumed it was the kids sneaking out some nights and the kids never denied it because they were trying to keep the secret of what was going on.
@martiniquecordeiro167
@martiniquecordeiro167 3 года назад
@@joanski786 hi Joanie_bee no I don’t doubt why miles and flora didn’t directly encounter her, since I understand that they were in their rooms which were not in viola’s direct, consistent path. What I don’t understand is how their parents, Charlotte and Dominic wingrave never encountered her, given that their bedroom was Violas bedroom (prior to when she got sick). If you recall Viola’s husband, her daughter and her slept in that main bedroom prior to get getting sick. Thereafter her daughter and husband continued to sleep in that room which is why she kept walking to that room, following the same path to find her daughter there. From my understanding the room her husband and daughter slept in is the same as Dominic and Charlotte wingrave. So unless viola literally went into hibernation for the entire time they used that room (which was years), I don’t understand how they they never encountered her. Which seems unlikely. I think it’s a plot hole
@joanski786
@joanski786 3 года назад
@@martiniquecordeiro167 What i am saying is, the room that Viola visited was not their main bedroom but their daughter's bedroom. That is why she once found a random child there and took him. It is possible when she roamed the halls during her illness and saw her father with her, it could be that the father stayed that night with her after tucking her in, hence why Viola never got a chance to interact with her. The husband was there.
@martiniquecordeiro167
@martiniquecordeiro167 3 года назад
@@joanski786 hey I fully understand what you're saying. But I happen to, respectfully, disagree. I believe the room she walked to every night was her old main bedroom (that she shared with her husband and child prior to getting sick) and not her child's room. I do think her child probably went to sleep there over the years with her father (even after being an infant). However I think Viola walked there because it was the room she shared with her infant and husband. In fact, if you remember from episode 1 Miles, Flora and Hanna specifically mentioned to Dani that there is a wing of the house where their parents used to live and that they don't go into anymore (this can be found around the 21-minute mark of episode 1). I believe that Flora and Miles made this so as to protect people from going there, knowing that the lady of the lake walks that exact route. In episode 8, when Viola gets sick and the doctor tells them that Viola has to be kept away/separate from everyone else, Viola's husband specifically mentions that their daughter cannot sleep without their mother (this can be seen around the 12-minute mark of episode 8). You can also see by the double doors, windows and layout of the room that Viola keeps walking to the main bedroom (which has the exact same layout, apart from where the bed is placed, as Charlotte and Dominic Wingrave's room). You can also see this from episode 9, when the lady of the lake drags Dani's body through the house. Viola drags Dani to a room where the furniture is covered in sheets. If you remember, all the furniture in Charlotte and Dominic Wingrave's room is covered in sheets as they do not use that wing anymore. This can be seen around the 5:30 minute-mark of episode 9. This is the same room that Peter and Rebecca go to, which is where Peter was trying to steal Charlotte's jewellery and made Rebecca wear that coat. Actually in episode 3 when Peter takes Rebecca to the Wingrave's old room to give her the coat, Rebecca actually says 'why do the kids keep tracking mud in here'. This is heard at around the 38-minute mark of episode 3. And when Peter says its fine, Rebecca says the kids shouldnt be in their parents room/wing at all and neither should they (being Rebecca and Peter). The mud prints, as we know are from the lady of the lake (hence, Rebecca thinks the kids are the ones tracking mud into the parents wing, unknowingly). And since we know that Peter is taking Rebecca to the Wingrave's old room this proves that this is where the lady of the lake is walking to. Hence, this is why I say that it makes no sense that the Wingraves never encountered Viola. You'll further see that when Rebecca and Peter enter that room that the furniture is covered in sheets and is the same layout as the room that Viola walks to. Also around the 14-minute mark of episode 9 you can see Henry with the kids in the old parents bedroom (the same one I believe Viola walks to). Here, some of the sheets have been taken off the furniture and they are looking at old photos and old things belonging to their parents. They are back in their parents room because they are no longer scared to go there. They are also packing up the house to leave. Further I found this article below explaining (which can also be heard around the 45-48 minute mark of episode 8): 'So she slept, she woke, she walked. She would rise out of the lake and walk up into her old bedroom, “feeling that if she walked to her bedroom, to the room she once shared with her husband, her infant daughter, that perhaps the nightmare would abate,” the Narrator explains. But each time she faced an empty bed, she would remember. And the remembering itself “was injury anew"'. I found it in the link here: collider.com/haunting-of-bly-manor-episode-8-explained/ Moreover, I also found: “Throughout her 6-year illness, she notices her husband and sister growing closer. Missing her husband and daughter, she wanders to the main bedroom every night to watch them sleep. Eventually, she decides to put all her jewels and clothes into a chest and lock them away, only for her daughter to open when she's old enough. Arthur and his daughter then move out of Bly Manor and throw Viola’s chest in the lake. Viola’s room vision soon merges with the watery grave she’s been condemned to. Now, instead of leaving her bedroom and walking to the master suite, she walks from the lake, into the house, up the stairs, along the corridor and into the bedroom, in the hopes of seeing her daughter.” www.popbuzz.com/tv-film/haunting-of-bly-manor/who-lady-in-the-lake-explained/#:~:text=Viola%20and%20her%20sister%20Perdita,a%20man%20named%20Arthur%20Lloyd.&text=Throughout%20her%206%2Dyear%20illness,night%20to%20watch%20them%20sleep. Feel free to double-check me, but I definitely stand by the fact that Viola kept walking to her old main bedroom, the one she shared with her husband and daughter. And that this was the same main bedroom that belonged to the Wingrave's. Hence why it seems like a plothole that Charlotte nor Dominic wingrave, never encountered Viola, even whilst leaving their room to get something to drink during the night.

It's like denying their death keeps them here, and as they come to terms with it, their spirit can finally rest and they start going "towards the light" for lack of a better term. Notice how Hannah, after finally coming to terms with her death, can be seen but not interact anymore: Viola and Dani go straight through her in the final episode, then she can be seen by Jamie and Owen but no one touches her, and when everything is over and Bly's spirits are released from Viola's gravity, Hannah can only be seen by Henry's ghost, until Henry comes back to life and Hannah's ghost disappears. What is the significance of Miles throwing the viola doll down the trash chute and what’s the significance of him being all ready to go as if waiting for Dani when she comes in the room in the morning? And what was the point of the scene of him almost pushing Jamie off the ladder? And then Flora acts wired also, she hides in the attic with all the ghosts but is afraid to go to the basement? But let’s Dani go? And how did she know that her Viola doll couldn’t remember her name on the walk back to her room after danni got the doll from the basement?? I think she lured Danni to the basement for the doll and to the attic during hide and seek but I can’t understand why? If she was possessed at those times then why would Rebecca want to do that? Was she trying to take over Danny’s body the whole time but making Peter believe she would take Floras? And she seemed to have lured her again when setting her free and telling her to leave with Flora. Wouldn’t she know the lady of the lake was making her walk? I feel Rebecca wanted Danni to die because she was jealous of her in some way. And then Flora humming that song at the beginning and in the attic, if she was possessed by Rebecca at his time why is Rebecca singing that song? That song is significant to Viola and old af. Why would they both keep singing it because of a jewelry chest?? It makes me feel that Flora may have been possessed by the lady of the lake also or that something deeper is going on with her. Like Flora was born in that house at night during the time Viola could have been making her walk. Makes me wonder if there was something going on with Flora deeper than anyone ever imagined. There’s just so many plot holes to me 🕳

It makes sense within the “rules” of this story. I fully understand the story but I’m a bit confused with Hanna. Since she was dead even before Dani showed up, does that mean Dani was seeing her all along ?

Dani saw her because Hannah chosen to be visible to the peoples of Bly manor, she can’t leave though, so others can’t see her from afar I suppose.

Hannah doesn't believe she is dead. Peter knows he is. That's the cartoon reference.

After watching both series hill house and bly manor I can’t decide which is better, probably bly since it was a lot simpler and had a better story line and yet so sad at the same time

I was into this show at first but and then episode 5 had me really going wtf?? But then it seemed like they were just trying too hard and all the cutaways and flashbacks made the story a chore to follow. By the end I was glad it was over.

This will piss everyone off but it would’ve been more relatable if Jamie and Dani were not gay. Everyone can relate to a normal relationship. It’s just human. But…Netflix.

No one ever thinks of getting a priest. A supernatural phenomenon is taking place, and no one considers going to a supernatural expert. That’s like being chased by a criminal and not calling the police. It was a stupid ending tbh.

Oh, they do! The Vicar is brought in at one point to exorcise Viola, and she summarily kills him and his ghost is trapped there!

I think that's what throws me off, Jamie, isnt she like, Irish or Scottish? Why is she so English as an older chick?
