The spa town of Lisdoonvarna is known for natural spring mineral water, traditional music and romance.
The attractions of the Clare town of Lisdoonvarna are many. One woman recalls that a Dublin doctor said that he would never miss spending ten days on holiday in Lisdoonvarna every year for the mineral air. Another man says that the town always had a great atmosphere with plenty of excitement and plenty of girls.
This episode of PM was broadcast on 3 October 1978.
‘PM’ was a magazine series reporting on aspects of Irish life with interludes for music from Irish performers.
‘PM’ first began on Tuesday, 20 September 1977 and was initially aired three nights a week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7.00 pm on RTÉ 1.
The original presenters John O’Donoghue, Áine O’Connor, Nicholas Coffey and Doireann Ní Bhriain were later joined by Pat Kenny.
As editor Noel Smyth sees it, the Tuesday programme will consist mainly of film reports on topical events anywhere in Ireland, the Wednesday edition will concentrate on studio discussions, and the Thursday programme will be in Irish, with just as wide a brief as the other two.

My first visit to Lisdoonvarna was September 1973 were I spent a night at the Ritz hotel. I visited several time over the next 3 decades to taste the mineral waters. I have no intention of revisiting at my advanced years and with the current invasion of non-Irish, but my memories of the craric of 50 years ago will stay with me.

back then you had irish people just getting instruments out and making music for each other and the heck of it, today youll still get these bands, but its hired acts to make the tourists and foreigners feel "the irish way".

poor you having to live among migrants, if the migrants were not there then nobody would be living there, only you. Nobody owns the world, we must share this planet with others until our final day comes and then if we are very lucky, we will enter the kingdom of heaven which will be full of immigrants and possibly people of other faiths

It is sad to hear of several people working and complaining about having to live among migrants, in Lisdoonvarna, and other areas, if the migrants were not there then nobody would be living there, only the complainers. Nobody owns the world, we must share this planet with others until our final day comes and then if we are very lucky, we will get to enter the kingdom of heaven which I know will be full of immigrants and people of other faiths and religions, are those complainers going to say to God Almight, I am not entering into Heaven until you get rid of all the migrants and the many other people we do not like,

Ah sure we'll do were Sweden did, let in 400k of them and become the rape capital of Europe, then turn around years later and bring in emergency legislation to deport them. Cultures are not equal. Learn from Yugoslavia, the only place that such erupt into conflict was Slovenia because it was homogeneous society.

i think you are confusing migrants with illegal criminals & fake asylum seekers and fakeugees. nobody had any issue with migrants unti the irish gov appealed to 3rd world to come and be housed within 6 months which is shameful. these alien cultures are often hostile to the natives and some frightening results can be seen from sweden ,germany and the uk. the gov tells us not to link "migration" with crime. if only they kept records they could easily support this view. they wont hold data on such because theres a huge criminal element that have entered ireland and will never be deported for some reason for their crimes. we"ve had a pipe bomb maker in a hostel in dublin, the 3 creche going children on parnell st dublin, countless stabbings, countless SA by fakeugees , numerous murders, child p.... distribution and every other crime imaginable. the demographic change in ireland is insane with 22% of the population born outside ireland.
