I stumbled upon this video after doing a search for Vivian Maier and wound up watching five minutes of someone delivering an oral resume. I feel as if it was a narrative story that began in the second act. I couldn't bring myself to invest another 13 minutes to see if there was actually anything about Ms. Maier in the video. Just my 2 cents.
Mr. Goldstein takes the preservation of the art of Vivian Maier very seriously. He has curated his part of the collection with the utmost care for the integrity of the work and the artist. He has employed only the best people and methods when it comes to developing the negatives and creating the prints. Far from a quick buck artist, he has taken a long-term approach to make sure Vivian's work is respected and preserved properly. He has done everything in his power to make sure he has operated in a fair, ethical and legal manner. An accomplished artist himself, he understands the expression of pure art in Ms. Maier's work. Her images should be shared with the world, as he has endeavored to do. The profiteers who wish to capitalize on her work and who have now kept that work from being seen, should reevaluate their methods and priorities and release the grip they have on Mr. Goldstein and Mr. Maloof and Ms. Maier, for that matter. I know Mr. Goldstein personally and I can attest that from the very beginning and at every step along the way, his motivation has been to preserve and protect Ms. Maier's legacy. Her art, which has been judged to be a significant contribution by experts in the field, needs to be secured and shared and there is no one better qualified to do so than Mr. Goldstein. Let he and Mr. Maloof get back to the task at hand and free Vivian's images for the world to see.
Why are we listening to this "look what I have done" crap? Building a boat does not make him a curator. He in this for the buck, not for the love of the artist.
