"You come hanging around my daughter on your honeymoon?!!! Hang around your wife; don't hang around my daughter! Have respect for the institution of marriage."
You don't make a lot of videos like this, you need to. These are the best, and I suspect these videos are the most emblematic of your soul. I want to see more like this, your deconstruction of the 80's and 90's is much needed. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤
This one is still wayyyy better than the god-awful remake with Ben Stiller. Charles Gordon not only portrayed a funnier protagonist, but more sympathetic too. In fact, all the major characters in the original were much more relatable.
If Grodin's portrayal is more sympathetic then I'd hate to see how unsympathetic Stiller's portrayal is. The character just isn't particularly sympathetic. He was selfish and self-centered. Yeah, there is a degree of sympathy, or more accurately pity, the audience feels for him at the end when he's alone during his own wedding and he's reflecting.
This original version of The Heartbreak Kid with Charles Grodin is an absolute classic compared to the remake piece of crap with Ben Stiller. Easy to see why this version gets 4 stars in every rating.
so the Grodin character here functions as a critique onthst type of attitude, whereas Stillers version uses Malin Akerman as a means to portray his character as a misunderstood hero., makes the newer film more awful.. oddly enough
