The Heartbreaking Story Of Queen Soraya 

Interesting story. She was very beautiful. It just reminds us that we are not on this earth for very long.

My mom met both the Shah and Soraya in Düsseldorf, Germany, back in the 50’s. I still have a picture card of the Shah and Soraya that they gave to my mom. She was working as a chambermaid in the Breitenbacher Hof. My mom had only good things to say about the two of them. On the last day of their stay they gave my mom a giant bouquet of flowers and a bottle of perfume as thank you gifts. Thank you for posting this little know piece of history. Since i was a child i've always been mesmerized by her beauty!!! I'm Iranian and first time i saw her picture on a historical book in our library. I couldn't believe her destiny. And still i don't see anyone as beautifull as her 🌺

The narrator was a unique story teller, with candid but with kindness and understanding, especially for this love between the shah and his second queen. There are times when love between two people just doeesn't die, regardless of being involved with other people.❤❤😌😌

She reminds me of Ingrid Bergman. Also the Iranian royal family maybe very patriarchal and difficult for an outsider to live with them but at least unlike most of the other royal families in the Middle East, they allowed their women to be seen in the public looking glamorous and allowed them to have a voice. You would never hear about the women of all the kingdoms of the Middle East except Jordanian royals.

I enjoyed it as i spent a lot of time in iran, or Persian as we preferred to call it from 78 to 95 with my Iranian husband and his family. I was v familiar with this story but your presentation is excellent.

This is a true love story, separated because she can't have a child and when he is dying both of them were longing to see each other for one last time sad but they get to tell each other for the last time they still love each a great love story thanks for the story. 🙏🇨🇦🌟

Soraya brother died a few days after, they're both buried in Westfriedhof Cemetery in Munich. You take tram number 20 (richtung/direction Moosach . Tram number 20 stops at Westfried Hof Cemetery.

I wouldn't mind living out my last years in a penthouse overlooking lovely streets in Paris. And loads of cash doesn't hurt either.

I watched this story, because I have a gold coin with the Shah on it. He had come to visit my family in Ohio. The Shah’s right hand man gave the coin to my grandmother for her generous hospitality. Then you showed the picture of Edward VII and Wallis Simpson, they also visited my family and I have a picture of them. My family were like the Rockefeller’s of Ohio. I am not like a Rockefeller, I’m normal, but have some fun stories and pictures.

I read that Soraya, 69, was found by her maid, dead on the floor of her Apartment's bedroom. Apparently a massive brain hemorrhage was the cause of Soraya's death.😔🌹

I saw the Shah on his state visit to Dacca, East Pakistan (Bangladesh) in 1970. I also read autobiography of Princess Suraya translated in Bangla. "When I was Queen". So beautiful. So sad. In 1979 I returned to Dhaka after engineering study in Canada. And I met a girl. Her father's side was French. Mother's side Punjabi. I couldn't sleep at night. Her eyes and nose exactly like Suraya.

My father in law had the privilege of knowing the shah and Soraya in person, when he was stationed in Iran in the fifties, on request of the dutch government. We still have the unique pictures from those days.

I'm surprised the Shah's daughter was able to marry someone her father didn't approve of.

I know she was rich and pretty but her life sounds horrible she didn’t seem to smile much.

Vanity, it’s all vanity under the Sun ☀️. What an absolute waste of energy and planning for the Shah to have an heir for the throne. He and Soraya loved each other very much, but divorced because she was barren. So, he married Farah, she gave him heirs for the throne, but what throne? All of his efforts went to waste, he was a good man, he truly loved his country and his people, he even told a reporter in the early 70s… “…I can try to forgive you if you hurt my family, but if you hurt my country and people that I will not forgive.” A highly intelligent and educated man who spoke three or four languages in full. These savage Muslims dethroned him and he died very young from cancer at the age 60. Before leaving Iran, he took with him a container full of Iranian soil/earth with him, because he loved his country so much. You don't realize what you have until you lose it for good and you should have cherished it. His son for the past 45 years has tried to gain his rightful place as the next King, but this will never happen. Iran 🇮🇷 will never be allowed to regain its glory again, these savages will never allow it. So heartbreaking, the Shah was too good for his people, they didn’t deserve to have such a wonderful leader for a king 👑. I remember so clearly that people were jumping up and down when the Shah left, they were so happy, but shortly afterwards they were hit with a very rude awakening, the liberty and freedom they were promised by the Islamic government became their worst nightmare. The Shah was turning Iran into the paradise of the Middle East, but the Iranian Muslims don't like freedom and liberty as they say they do, their version of liberty and freedom is totalitarianism, and so they got what they wanted, the Shah was too good for them, he wasn't savage enough. Be careful what you wish for, spitting in the wind can blow back to your face. At the end it’s all vanity of vanities under the Sun ☀️, it’s all meaningless, no good deed goes unpunished. RIP Muhammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, your people didn't deserve what they had in you, too much of a good thing like prosperity, safety, and freedom was sacrilege to them. Vanity of all vanities under the Sun, it's all meaningless, because deep within the human sub-conscience there's an insatiable desire for chaos, greed, avarice and power, and only a few individuals like the Shah have the conscience and morals to put their people first. What a wicked and savage world.

I am almost 80 years old and while it was tragic that Soraya was divorced because she was barren, I remember the reign of Empress Farah Diva Pahlavi well. I greatly admired her authentic and tireless work for the poor and needy, for social justice, education and women's rights. She was greatly loved by the common people whose standards of living were greatly improved. Despite all the propaganda one reads, the Shah was very forward thinking and cared about his people, fully supporting his wife's efforts. Schools and hospitals were established and thrived under their rule and it was the insidious rise of Islam which undermined the monarchy. Yes - an indulgent lifestyle was very evident and seen by many as excessive. However, one just needs to look at the British people's joyful participation in Royal events to see evidence that the public generally love the pomp and splendour associated with belonging to a monarchy.

I just watched a video that said how smitten the Shah was with his last wife, Farah Diba.

My late mother knew the ex-Queen Soraya and found her gracious and generous. She had several expensive paintings and my mother was an art historian. The poor lady always reckoned that it was the typhoid which rendered her infertile. If it makes any difference, the new queen, Farah Diba, hated and also was hated by the Shah's mother and sisters.

The negative side of Soraya has always been swept under the rug. The information you give seems to be very much in agreement with the reality. Thank you 👍🏼
