day 2 of asking ISP to play as austria because theres a new strat for austria since blood alone where you can survive the anschluss because of the unpassable alps, you also would have to do a agency and boost ideology in hungary for non aligned so they dont join the axis. i would really like to see you try that
If you hard rush napoleon and the war goal focuses you can get Britain, Belgium, and the Netherlands (including their puppets) into your faction before Germany does Sudetenland. As long as you have a good offensive army you can win the war in a few months and be unstoppable for this achievement.
I remember how I got this achievement…wound up retreating into the south-west third of France, defending mainly from the Rhone and Loire. Had to hang out with about 90 percent capitulation for three years before the Americans showed up with reinforcements. Good times

I remember how I got this, and Achievement to build destroyers with max torpedo tech as France was by flipping my politics to join the Axis, not joining any wars, then going afk as my entire production line was purely destroyers once I'd researched the required tech. Absolutely thrilling gameplay
I decided to get Vive La France with historical government and joining the Allies as soon as possible just for the challenge. I ended up building level 10 forts along the border with The Netherlands, guarded it with infantry divisions with a heavy tank battalion and Germany refused to attack my line.
I remember trying a France game years ago where my main goal was to survive the German invasion. Built level 10 forts all along my borders and played mostly historical focuses (I think), set up my front lines and watched as Germany completed the necessary focuses and then.... nothing. Germany refused to attack. Ended up getting declared on by Japan for my land in Asia and won that war taking most of China in the process, but Germany decided to just stay friends. Eventually got bored and declared on the axis. Conquered Germany and dropped the world's first atomic weapons on Dresden and Berlin. Don't think I continued to play until 1948 though. Oh well.
11:40, id say its very easy to hold france. When i was very new to the game a few updates ago, all i did was put a lot of level 10 forts along both the alps and the Belgian border, and just focused on africa and waited for the soviets to eventually push. And when i say new, i mean, Randomly assigning tanks and motorized to frontlines in the alps new.

i played the tannu tu va moon mod on my shitty laptop until 1947, alex von rambler had conquered eurasia, also this was like when i only had 100 hours in hoi4 my computer has suffered damage mentally and physically from that
If France had remained on the Franco-Belgian border instead of running off into Belgium (the Dyle Plan) it's likely Guderians offensive through the Ardennes would have been a failure, and with that France almost certainly would have won and history would be very different. France wasn't that weak they just had disastrous commanders.
