Dear Rabbi Friedman and team, I would like to express my great gratitude that you have been inserting explanations for Yiddish words/expressions for some time now. This makes learning - surely not only mine - so much easier, especially when one follows you from a non-English speaking country and does not always understand the words well. Please keep going, your teaching has been life changing for me.

Hebrew. Yiddish is a folk tongue; 16th century German written w Hebrew characters, with a dash of lots of other languages thrown in. Yiddish is the folk tongue of Ashkenazi Jews. (Ladino is the folk tongue of Sephardic Jews. There are other Jewish folk tongues from communities outside of Europe.) The sacred texts are in Hebrew & Aramaic. The writing is in the Hebrew alphabet. There are 22 letters. One reads from right to left & here is some of the alphabet; א בגדהו. . . . Etc.

I feel like this video was made just for me because it explains everything I'm going through but I know alot of people will relate to it. I was feeling really confused this morning, having no purpose to achieve anything positive and then I went on RU-vid and Rabbi Manis was the first person I saw and I clicked on the video.. wow the words changed my life, especially the point where he said we are in no direct danger but yet we live in trauma.. it's important to let go of the things which really do not matter at all and live a positive life for God. It is a choice. There is a switch to the light and Manis turned it on for me. Amenעמן love you brother

Thank you sir. I am a non- Jewish Christian. You are so right about what is wrong today. For decades we are told to focus on ourselves, we have made a generation or two of weak people who can’t take the things in life that come their way and move on. People seem to need counseling for every small insult. We all were created for a purpose and that is to serve our God. We have forgotten how to serve. Thank you again and Shalom.

Amen. Rabbi, the last time I read the Exodus account, I did take note that G_d extracted Israel out of Egypt with a mighty hand, because He had a work for His servant Jacob to do. In other words, Israel's descendants had a purpose, and they were needed in order to fulfill that purpose. Thank you for the important reminder and Jewish insights, that we were made for a purpose! That our entire lives should be devoted to whatever that purpose is meant to be. Shabbat Shalom and Chag Sameach from New Zealand.

This was my approach for many years - ignore the pain and look to serve. I'm confused now because I feel I've gotten slapped for everything good I've tried to do. People are funny, make them lunch and they will grumble at good things. Give them art and they will scowl at beauty. Speak deeply and it will be rubbish in the wind. I find much solace now in sad songs and holding the hand of my little daughter. Everywhere it seems that people want gusto and optimism, but why not slower, why not somber, why ignore the grief and the sorrows? Instead grief and shame are unfelt, wounds and relatives left unburied, unclaimed. Do the tears ever fall? There is no love without tears. Sensitivity is a gift of compassion, Sorrow a summit of empathy. The scars drip and ooze, but ---; buck up boy; keep on keeping on, keep up, don't tell me all that sad shlop. Count your blessings and get back in that hole and work.--- We need true companionship - the friend to bear our greif with, and to hold the tender trauma of others. A less stoic age, an age of sorrow. We are here to love and bind up the wounds

I once heard the African Americans fit the Bible more than European Jewry do. Deuteronomy 28:15-68 fit them to the teeth. And they also say obviously Egyptians during that time were black and Moses passed as one of their own so he must of been black. They also said that European Jewry should stop claiming their heritage as if they were black Egyptian racial African like the ancient Hebrew were.

The Hebrew word for Egypt is מצרים mitsrayim pronounced meets-rah-yeem has it's first occurrence of this name is in Genesis 10:6 - The descendants of Ham: Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan (Hebrew Bible) Mizraim is the grandson of Noah, he settled in the land that came to be known as Mitsrayim to the Hebrews in English language it's Egypt The root to this name is צר (tsar Strong's meaning "pressed in" and can be translated several different ways; "enemy" as one who presses in; "trouble" A common method of forming nouns is to add the letter "mem" to the front of a root. In this case the "mem" is placed before the root forming the noun מצר (metsar Strong The prefixed "mem" can be understood as "what is ect. ", hence metsar means "what is pressed in" and is usually translated as trouble or straits. The suffix of the name mitsrayim is the masculine plural suffix ים. The normal pronunciation for this suffix is eeym, usually a multiple plural, but can also be yeem and is the double plural as in the name mitsrayim. The name mitsrayim can be interpreted many different ways; two straits (possibly referring to the two sides of the Nile river), double straits, two enemies, double pressing, or double trouble.

Trauma thwarts the individuals proper senses. It can also halt or diminish greatly the developmental order. Hence there are so many Adult Children. The stress can lead to cancers- among many other ailments in life. Many also become addicted to anything. Many develop a “ false Self” in order to cope with the harsh unsavoury realities of life. The Psyche or “ soul” is paramount over any perceived duty.
