@@Skykid3307 SPAA can also just kill CAS. (I say this as someone who regularly kills CAS using SPAA in a nation with some of the worst SPAA in the game)
@@Spookston or "my brain is just not working right now," "I am not a very smart person" - Spookston favorite lines ;) Don't worry Spook, this game makes me feel like an idiot a lot of times too.
8:03 - that cupola shot on the IS should evaporate his tank. In shot simulator it does, but as of a couple weeks ago, even long 88's can't pen it in matches.
There's a reason a person with 3.25 KD on T-34-85 has 5+ on M18. I just can't quite get it... It eludes my mind... Mayhapse it's the dreaded "Skill Issue"? What do you think?
The worst thing that's going to happen to the M18 is the fact the 5.7 lineup gets taken to 7.0 if you want to play the M18 with it. The actual tank will play the exact same.
@@shahramtondkarmobarakie1824 the super hellcat is way too fun now. It's as mobile as the black cat (that didn't get the engine buff), but with a 90mm with buffed pen. Although it shouldn't get upped in br, it definitely now should get tagged as a tank destroyer.
Ah, my favourite line up to this day. M18 Black Cat, M18 GMC, M42, the 20mm F4U-4B, the AM1. I have talisman for all of them, so it is a real RP and SL earning lineup. It's also a very toxic lineup
Hullbreak is definitely a mechanic that should have remained in WT, but the amount of tweaking it would require was not worth the effort. Periscope is an external module so here's the counter example: imagine hitting M18 with 152mm APHE shell which fails to fuze. That M18 is still in battle... depite having a high 152mm ventilation tunnel all along it's side which together with welds giving up under such stress would mean that that hull has no structural integrity left behind it whatsoever. Or another example would be those reports of SU-152 mission kills on Tigers where a concrete busting round was utterly destroying turret ring, roof that it was a part of and heavily deforming turret and hull of the Tiger... and then Tiger continues to fight.
M18's saw action in Western Europe and Italy, I think they rolled them out in '43. They only made like a third as many as planned, in part because the 76mm wasn't as good as the 90mm on the M36 and couldn't frontally pen German heavies, the Soviets weren't interested in them for lend lease, and a doctrine change of using tanks and towed guns instead of a mobile gun platform like they planned when seeing the Blitzkrieg in Belgium and France. However, the shoot and scoot that it was designed for came in really handy for the Battle of the Bulge, where one company basically beat the Germans to a critical town and blocked part of their advance. But yeah in WT it's dummy good. Keep up the great content!
The M18 was really good. It had the best K/D of any Allied AFV. The Soviets didn't want it because their doctrine called for AFVs to act as assault guns and tank destroyers. The 76mm on the Hellcat wasn't much for killing bunkers. Also, the Russians didn't like any of the radial engined US vehicles. Their Army used diesel not high octane gasoline. Soviet gasoline was notoriously crappy
You know nothing 76mm can reliably penetrate German heavy tanks like Tiger-1 and medium tanks like Panther turret cheeks And M18 has the best K/D of any tank in WW2 But the soviets and their vehicles and gasoline was crappy and trash so they didn't like it😒

@RayanRayan-ih1sz to add because of tungsten shortages, we weren't sending the Russians any HVAP ammo. They didn't have any to make their own. They preferred just smacking heavies with big howitzer rounds like the 122mm and 152mm.
@@Fulcrum205 >80 Octane >High Octane You do know they produce only 500 horsepower, because they run on common 80 octane like all the other vehicles. The Soviets were extra bad plus at allowing their soldiers to have something to think, so they were probably bending rods at breakneck speed, because Eeevahn was clueless to the nature of the engine at best. Hydroloc, plus bad maintenance, plus overrev, plus air cool, plus bad supply, plus automatic transmission that is witchcraft to them.
Spookston really giving off the "You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain" vibes with his counter-CAS, and I love it.
Hill break is actually still in the game. It applies to the tank train on the newer map with the Running Track and the Blimp and it might also apply to the train on American Desert
Some logic behind the hullbreak makes sense. If M18 gets hit by 75L70 in the breech, I don't really think the turret can take the momentum of the shell without getting displaced, which essentialy means - an important piece of the tank is no longer properly attached. I've read about T-34 getting hit by 88L71 in the engine. Engine got ripped out of the chassis. So imagine what would occur if similar storry happened to even a smaller vehicle. Would the crew still be alive? Maybe! But with engine gone and a fireball in its place, the vehicle would be a goner. Of course in WT tank fire is usually absolutely harmless, unless it's a fuel explosion. IRL if you have a burning pit where once engine was - nobody is staying in the vehicle to find out what happens.
Attempt 11 Challenge: For high tier support a nations MBT with its respective APC/IFV counterpart (ie Abrams/Bradley, T90/BMP2M, etc.) Challenge is keeping the other player alive and supporting it without stealing kills (breaking barrels, tracking, repairing, etc) it being a random should help make it interesting.
i remember i used to get hull breaked in the m18 if someone shot a round at the side of the tank where there is empty space shell goes through it, does nothing yet i still died
7:47 If I remember correctly, hull break was gapenning. when you hit cannon (barrel or/and breach) or transmaission (not periscope). IMHO it was better, than overpressure, not ideal though...
i was playing with the hellcat and thought “ wow in surprised spookston hasn’t made a video about this yet, it seems like the perfect tank for him.” and low and behold he made a video
Hey spookston it’s not that it was too late to make a difference but in fact refused to outright use it. They wanted something more mobile but the same armor as a m10 so becoming a faster tank with a lot less armor became issue for crews so they said I’ll stick with m10 basically until they got the m36 into production. With only thirteen millimeters on the front hull, the M18’s armor was less than that of the M8 armored car. Of the nineteen tank destroyer battalions allocated for the invasion of France only 3 were equipped with the Hellcat prior to landing in Normandy. You have to think that the crews went from the half track with a 75 mm canon in North African to the m10 than the m18 I don’t think they would want to go back to a lightly armored tank destroyer again
I absolutely love the hellcat, it's still one of the vehicles I have the highest win rates in. It'll be strange when it goes up to 6.0, but I'm not too upset about it
Spookston lore line: 1. Start off as a plane player 2. Realizes tanks are better 3. “It’s annoying to get CASed but I guess it’s part of the game 4. Bro this is getting annoying 5. Realizes that he’s cursed 6. “IM PLAYING TANK BATTLES WHY DOES THERE NEED TO BE PLANES” 7. Literally crying* 8. Not even phased 9. Does a heroic shot to save ally but fails anyways 10. Fulfills descent into madness 11. That’s it I’m tired of being the bigger man 12. Becomes a plane player 13. Repeat 🔁
Alright here's a challenge to follow up on this video: You go to the Chinese Tree, take the M18 they have, take the M42 they have, and the M64, try to get as many kills as you can with the M64, but need to play either the Hellcat or Duster first to prove that you are being historically accurate. Or just a general video on the M64, that thing is adorable!
Yeah funny story, I was once, on one particularly bad match in that annoying port map everyone hates, down to the Hellcat (Italian tree), the only tank I could use, I reluctantly spawned it in because of a streak of "gaijin moments" happening to me when using the vehicle, but low and behold I was kicking ass left and right, uncapping points BY MYSELF, and for a moment I thought absolutely NOTHING could stop me, until I met my match: The PREMIUM Hellcat, I fired at it first but one TINY detail on the frontal plate SOMEHOW sent my shell to the Backrooms, then he fired back at me on the same exact spot I tried shooting at and I died immediately. We lost that match but I saved the replay, shame it's dated now and I can't view it anymore.
I really want to see spookston make a video of him being a manace taking revenge and targeting only those who cas'ed him until the player in question leave the match XD
talking about hullbreak my fondest memory of that was when I shot a ZSU-57-2 in its side all the way near the back of the hull it didnt hit anything yet I got the kill because I broke the hull.
One thing this thing lacks to make it top tier fun is stabilizer. After playing with USA tanks for a long while, you kind of get used to having stabilizer in your tanks, so getting into one without it feels kind of meh. It's still my favorite thing to use when playing USA tho :D.
"You never really hear about the Hellcat" I think that's in part because, though it did a lot of good work in WWII, it failed to properly replace the M10. Although the M18 improved on the M10 in many ways, it had a different layout and more notably had less armor. Some people didn't mind because the M18 can stop bullets and it's not like the M10 was going to stop much late war munitions anyways, but between the thin armor and needing to learn an entirely new layout a lot of groups armed with the M10 elected to keep using it instead of the M18.
Don't use gun pods if you're flying CAP(Combat Air Patrol). The extra burst mass often is not worth the significant reduction in flight performance. Welcome to Team CAS Clappers.
11:58 that dude thought he was being stealth mode.... (totally not leaving a dust trail) he expected to come around that house.... but his nose on you..... and slap you down . little did he know.... all he was going to do was turn right into a wall of bullets . thats one of the funniest things ive seen for air to air combat.... from Aces High to DCS..... holy fuck that was funny! . . like.. .most will probably not understand why i find that so funny but you just out flew AND!!! outsmarted DA FUQ out of that dude... . just turned the tables on his ass LOL
7:40 tbh, Hullbrake was more consistent than Overpressure. And didn’t say “Fck you” to all vehicles. It was bad, But I preferred it to Overpressure. If Gaijin makes Overpressure consistent and less broken, It will surely be better.
When he said "it's 3am" my brain went "but it's daytime in the video, how early is sunrise in his part of the world!?" Took me a moment to remember that video games can be daytime even if it's dark outside. I am not clever.
I just unlcocked the Hellcat todat. I am absolutely considering getting myself the premium as well so I can have TWO hellcats. If only I could also have multiple M24s.
Spookston and Odd should play the silly Roblox game, Cursed Tank Simulator. It's like war thunder but you can put different components on different tanks
Yo spookston I think since you played the regular hellcat I think you should use the super hellcat, it’s even rattier than the regular hellcat and the 90mm gun is so satisfying when it connects with a Panther and a tiger’s turret (btw keep up the great work)
You dont hear a lot about the M18 because it was the victim of the same thinking as the 76mm Sherman: units with M10 just didn't want them. Why go through the headache of switching to a new vehicle when what you already have works fine?
Spookston is have a actually good tank for you to have fun with the m46 Patton is a good tank it gets heatfs and can pen a tigers front hull armor and it has good mobility only downside to the tank is it dosnt have alot of armor.
