I’m not gonna lie I feel very fortunate . The Bears have sucked my whole life but I’ve seen the Bulls . The Sox and Cubs win a series and the Hawks absolutely dominate the NHL . It would be awesome to see the Bears do it too .
I lived through the 90's MJ era in Chicago. I grew up in the suburbs and was a kid back then. If Caleb becomes what he is projected to be, absolutely, it will reach MJ levels. The Bears own this city more than any other sports franchise, even the Bulls. If Caleb is what he is supposed to be, the next Michael Jordan will be born, no question.
He won't be Jordan though, because Jordan became a worldwide phenomenon. He will be a local hero more than anything, perhaps a bit national, but definitely not worldwide. NFL just doesn't have that type of reach. Jordan put the NBA on the map everywhere. You could ask some random person in Africa who Tom Brady is and they won't know, but they'll know who Jordan is. Ask them who the Bears are and they won't know, but they'll know the Bulls. That's a Jordan and Jordan only thing. It will never be repeated.
Chicago Bears fans are jaded at this point. We want Caleb to be the greatest, but as a true Bears fan….i can’t trust this organization. I have had my heart broken too many times….it is sooo hard for me to love again.
How have your heart broken? The bears never had a top ten pick that was a quarterback so they never really had hopes of a good quarterback like me I thought fields might grow to be a good quarterback after they drafted him after the first half of his second season I knew already he wasn’t gonna be crap cause he doesn’t have quarterback instincts in the pass game
@@garyphillips3552any fan 45 and under has learned to hate the 85 team. I’m tired of them sucking the life out of this franchise. It was 38 years ago. I’m tired of them. We want a modern winner
You need to just chill. I understand your hesitation, because bears fans are just numb at this point. Always hope for the best to watch the worst. But an "organization" doesn't do anything. It's people. People are to blame. It's as dumb as when people say "the bears organization can't draft and train a franchise qb" what???? An organization doesn't do anything, people do! So we had bad people making bad decisions, in specific roles for a prolonged period of time. It all went up to Ted Phillips, who only cared about revenues, so he hired GMs who would generate revenues, but were bad fits. They in turn hired bad HCs who hired bad staff. Did you not watch EVERYTHING change when Ted Phillips "retired"? (Kicked the fuck out).
Caleb would need minimum 3 SBs in order for most to put him in the MJ stratosphere. MJ was the greatest athlete of the 20th Century. There is No way One SB puts Caleb in MJ neighborhood. That’s Disrespectful to the 🐐🐐🐐🐐
As a Chicagoian, If Caleb is the talent that everybody believes he is and will be, and he is about the city and the team, there's no question he'll own the city. Chicago fans are loyal (sometimes to a fault) to the players that are loyal to the city. Especially, if they are of supreme talent. The city was Derrick Roses' before the unfortunate injury.
A Chicagoian? wtf does that mean. Hey just going to break it to you if you want to be taken serious you need to not make up new terms for people who reside in Chicagoland.
As a Bears fan we understand he has the potential to be as big as Jordan. So far everything is checking out, so yeah the meatballs in Chicago believe were winning a superbowl.
And by the end of this season. I would even say the first half of the season. We will know if CW is the guys. But what I have seen. I feel really good about it.
As a Chicago sports van who’s in his early 20s I will say that I did not know the hype around Michael Jordan but I will say all the Chicago teams. There has not been more hype around one player since I’ve been watching sports then there is around Caleb Williams and I don’t think it’s close. Kris Bryant broke the longest streak in sports history and brought the Cubs a World Series and he won an MVP and I still don’t think there was ever as much hyper around him as there is around Caleb Connor Bedard looks like he’s going to be a top 10 NHL player, managed to miss almost 2 months of his rookie season and still ran away with the rookie of the year and I don’t think there was nearly as much around him and honestly, I am all for it if Caleb Williams wins one Super Bowl ring he will go down is probably the second greatest sports player in Chicago history because we’re a football town more than anything else if he wins more than one ring, he will probably be more beloved than bro Michael
No, Chicago is excited for sure. But no one gets MJ vibes until you start winning championships and are at least arguably the best in the game. But the bar for Chicago quarterbacks is low. I’m pumped. But honestly, the Bears backup Tyson Bagent has looked as good or better in preseason. All the hype is irrelevant until the real games start
I’d say this is closer to D Rose on the Bulls being the #1 pick but he didn’t blow up until his second year so I’m hoping Caleb is an easy rookie of the year. Bears D is dominant so if they don’t show up it doesn’t matter what the offense does.
I'm "cautiously giddy." NOTHING would please me more than for Caleb & Co. to emulate the Jordan & Co. era Bulls and own the NFL. If so, he will have earned the mantle of Messiah of the Midway. 🐻⬇️
Growing up. I remember the 80s skit of Saturday night live. There was a chicago bears skit that they played Mike ditka. You should watch it. It’s pretty funny. But it was because of the 85 bears.
As a bears fan if he brings Chicago a super bowl championship he will be considered a legend. Heck if he throws for 4,000 yards they’ll build him a statue most likely haha
He’s not saying he’s the next michael Jordan. He’s saying if Caleb hits he will basically achieve Jordan like status in the city. Mostly because the bears are the most loved team in Chicago and the team has been so offensively starved for 40+ years.
Listen...we had 2, maybe 3, games we SHOULD have won last year but blew it. So this would've been a talented team with Justin. This is the most skilled offense I've seen from the Bears in 50 years. But in the few preseason snaps I saw Caleb process and fire in a way we've never seen. His confidence reminds me of Jim McMahon. His everything else I refuse to compare to anyone. Let the defense do what they do, live within the offense, and learn when to turn on the juice....
There’s two things at okay here- we do t know what the future holds for Caleb and the Bears so we can’t really say that this is in any way Jordan-like. That being said, IF Caleb is as advertised and this guy ends up giving the city a SB or two, then absolutely. He’s built for it. The city is hungry and sick of talking about a team from nearly 40 years ago. The Bears have a giant international profile. There is no doubt that Caleb will be a giant star if things go well.
Caleb is not even close to what Michael Jordan‘s presence was right away as a rookie. Many people already thought he was the best to ever play that early on in his career because of how dominant he was against the Olympic team when he was still graduating college as they won seven or eight straight games against, their All-Star NBA team. Caleb Williams isn’t considered by anybody to be one of the best in the NFL as a rookie. Not only that Michael Jordan was a juggernaut on the national stage right out the gate and Caleb still find his way to get that relevance as many, still speculatethat Jaden Daniels is a better quarterback
It's true. Not too soon. Absolutely will own the city. I was around in the 90s and MJ owned Chicago for a time for sure but the city has been waiting on a QB like this forever!
What ?! Haha nah, this is insanity. Caleb is a rookie & it's hard to predict what any player will do in their careers. To put the MJ/Bulls standard on anyone is crazy, ESPECIALLY a team led by a rookie. This is wild. If Caleb gets the Bears a Lombardi trophy in his career, that's a success
As much as Chicago loves the Bulls and MJ I would dare say there are twice as many Bear fans in Chicago as Bulls fans. If Caleb can bring year after year division wins, playoff wins and a couple of SB's. Plus shatter all Bear QB records, pretty low bar, Caleb would go down like Jordan as a King of Chicago. He would become practically deifed. Lol
Caleb Williams success henges on the bears ability to have continuity at the offensive scheme. If he's successful these next 2 years Shane is gone, maybe even after this year. That's the luxury Patrick Mahomes with KS have a offensive minded coach.
The 90s Bulls didn’t have any close rivalries like Bears -GB they had the Bucks lol their rivals where Detroit NY Miami and it was a different vibe then the Bears back then I’ve been a GB fan for 67 years and I live 90mls from Chicago people don’t dislike the bears as much as they hate the Bears Fans Bulls fans where different
Bro they are not saying his hype is at Jordan level now, what they are saying is that if he is really good at playing qb, he can reach those levels, because we are the only franchise to never have a good qb in the nfl, Chicago sports are split because, some people like the bulls but not everybody, the cubs and white Sox are split down the middle, nobody really watches hockey.. well black people don’t but we root for them to win lol, but everybody loves the bears here, there is no split, the bears are the reason the nfl even exists so that’s how historic this shit is but if Caleb turns this franchise around, he could reach Jordan level especially if he brings a superbowl
As a long time Chicago fan first play a game and then win couple games before deemed savior but if if (if) comes true yes he could bears never had a great offense all we had was Walter Payton
Look. I think a lot of Bears fans are on the edge. After Tribusky, Cutler, Grossman, Orton, and Fields, I think we want to believe into the hype but we are SUS of it. We are tired of disappointment. So far as of today he has lived up to the hype and if he continues to grow and be that great modern QB, he would never have to buy a beer or probably a steak in the city ever again.
walter payton gets more love than mj in chicago we care more about football than basketball. it’s the windy city. so they’re speaking to that. so yes caleb will be bigger than mj in chicago. prolly not bigger nationally or globally but definitely in chicago
Off of some pre season snaps we’re having this conversation? I remember when Mahomes took 3-4 weeks of regular season play to convince people. Somehow we’re crowing Caleb though already after meaningless football. In which, despite his flashes, the Bears offense didn’t exactly wow or move the ball well.
Nah slow down. Way too early to even mention him with mj. Mike era was different you won't get it if you weren't there.. Caleb gotta produce first damn 😆 I mean shit I hope what he does compares to Mike but just slow down
I said this back in October 🤷🏼♂️ 😂 soooo…. Way too soon? Idk probably, anything can happen. But sometimes you can just see it. Like you know this story, you know what’s going to happen. Actually the story reminds me of Kobe. When Kobe was drafted everyone wanted to hate Kobe for no reason other than trying to prove that the experts don’t know shit and allllll the experts said he was the next Mike. Carbon copy of Mike. Without even stepping out on a court, either people loved to hate him, or people loved glazing him up. Mikes over here winning chips and this kid is gettin glazed up before he even takes his first shot. Caleb reminds me of Kobe in that sense. PM gettin called the MJ of football and people glazing Caleb before he even takes a snap. Some of the shit he says too like ‘I don’t get nervous’ ….. like what? Lol
@@JWLSportshe definitely missed the point bc there is no way to compare the two bc it’s two different sports but comparing how much cw can bring eyes to the city and root for the bears he has already brought a lot of media attention to them and hasn’t played a snap in the regular season
