I was listening to this without video and I didn’t notice until the end that you weren’t actually on Cowherds show as a guest. I was like, wow this guys doing a great job CC hasn’t interrupted a single time lol
Not a lions fan but I only remember the lions actually losing by a lot to only the ravens. Every other loss was because of going for it on fourth down (gambles) that’s actually how they won games too though. I really thought they were going to beat the 49ers and go to the SB but they gambled a little too much in that game. I can’t really knock them for losing that way when they also win that way. Kudos to the coaching staff front office and ownership for turning this franchise around. The fans need this the most go get that ring y’all deserve it. My team (patriots) about to be trash lol
Goff has won a number of cold weather games. Look back at 2022. He beat both New York teams on their field in the cold. Don't forget Green Bay at the end of 2022. Frigid night with nothing to play for other than Pride. Packers win and they're in the playoffs. Lions beat them and sent Rodgers to the Jets. Goff is better indoors, but he doesn't fold in cold weather.
These talking heads can never change their narratives they push. Goff in general is a great example. Between people questioning if he's good, to the cold weather nonsense, to get pressure and he crumbles. Dude is easily top 5 over the last 2 years. He did beat Green Bay in green bay week 18, and he has the best numbers in the league against the blitz. Goff is elite, but the majority of these knuckleheads haven't paid attention to realize this
That doesn’t tell the whole story from that game. It was mostly defense that got us that win. He’s not consistent in the cold. Look at last year in Chicago. So, I think those games indoors next season does us well.
It’s not about practicing in cold weather, his bsll just doesn’t cut through the wind well at all! It’s why some of his worst games in his career are in Chicago, at New England he was terrible in the wind and it was super windy last year in Baltimore and he was terrible, the wind really didn’t effect Lamar’s ball but Goff couldn’t get nothing anywhere past just short passes! 🤷♂️
Doesn’t matter, dome teams historically do poorly outdoors as the weather gets colder and nastier. None of this matters if Detroit gets home field though.
I disagree with you when you said “this is the year for the super bowl”. No it’s not. The lions are building a dynasty. Just signed almost three pro bowlers for an additional 4 years after this one. The detroit lions are going to be contenders for years to come. Do not make the mistake of getting these players like Odell Beckham or others for 1 stinkin year when for the first time in franchise history players want to stay with the lions. we are rewarding players who played great with big money to stay, and you think we should pull a rams and get more players for 1 year contracts? To me that’s a waste of money and lacking faith in the guys dan cambell and brad holmes chose for this team.
Naw if we can bring in a good pass rusher, WR and or off ball coverage linebacker we should…. But other than those needs then we are good…. Don’t overpay but we have cap space and we would still be able to keep all our great players
The only thing I don't like about this schedule is having Detroit going back to Dallas, especially after Goodell promised the Lions their next meeting would be in Detroit.
Vegas has Lions favored in 13 games, and after last season's performance, 13-4 should be the bar this season. Every single game is a 1 score spread though, so Vegas and I both think the Lions have a chance to win every game on the schedule. And I will continue to say, since the start of the Brad and Dan era, the Lions are the #1 team in the NFL Against the Spread with a 37-17 record. Never bet against a Dan Campbell-led team. Last year their regular season test was KC (won), SEA (lost in OT), BAL (blown out), and DAL (ref shenanigans), so you could've guessed they would fall short of the SB. This year they have to win vs LA, SEA (0-7 vs SEA in past decade), DAL, and SF to show they are SB ready.
I'm a biased homer but them going 15-2 keeps popping in my head. I just think with the way their season ended MCDC is gonna have his boys so laser focused on dominating every game
@joshlewis575 a lot has to go right. No injuries, and the ball has to bounce right every time. If it bounces the other way, they could go 10-7 (I'm not hating, just saying a lot of screwy stuff can happen in close games, like the refs in the Dallas game)
@@ronaldsneller1989 As a Lions fan since '92, I understand the concept of tempering expectations and always expecting the unexpected ($@#!ing refs, especially in GB and DAL). But in the Brad and Dan era, they are all about raising expectations. That's why I say they are capable of going 12-5 again since they have basically the same team as 2023 with some upgrades, so the bar should be set at 13-4. Always trying to improve. 12-5 would be good but not great. 10-7 would be a major disappointment. Besides, Brad and Dan are in their 4th season, so injuries will test the depth of their roster building, and I hope for continued positive results. Will Hendon Hooker be a great backup? I hope we never have to find out, but I think he would be.
Your opening sentence on this video was hilarious. “First of all I have no idea why JMac doesn’t like Goff and frankly I do really care” Hahahaha aooo funny
Veteran Pass Rusher Emmanuel Ogbah is only 30 years old The Lions should take a flyer on him. If he fits this move could help the Lions get into the Super Bowl
I have been a lions for almost 40 years. I love hearing this super bowl favorite talk. We have a legit team for many years to come for the first time in my life.
Love your review and opinion. 🤙 Dont agree with going all in yet though, this is a team that can be good for a long time. No need to sacrifice your future
They’ll be contenders this year for sure. Kept both coordinators who had head coaching opportunities and Goff’s cap hit doesn’t spike this year. But when Goff and St Brown’s contract kicks in and Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn leave, it’s not guaranteed to continue when you pay a limited qb like Goff 53 mill a year.
@robertkurtz6691 exactly, there is 1 year in 26 where they're locked in to a shit ton of $$. But besides that they gave themselves wiggle room in every other year. Brad Holmes has shown he's an all around elite GM this off-season. We all already knew he's amazing come draft day. This spring though he's shown he's a master cap manipulator too.
That's funny, people keep saying when Ben Johnson leaves but never understand why he's staying for the last two years. The Lions defense especially passing has been awful...I expect it to improve this year but randomly talking is funny to hear
If anything its a disadvantage because elements play a part in winning or losing but the outdoors play starts at the right time because the weather changes
Listen Julian we all have our expectations for Goff. I thought he was a bridge and couldn’t get it done. Well as we continue to build a team around him I see that he is very DURABLE & CONSISTENT. He’s tougher than alot of high value you QBs in todays NFL, & he got 2 different franchises to a NFC Championship games so again I’ll give him credit. BUT he has to win it all in my opinion to go over the top! And I’ll agree this year and next year are OUR years to do it with our division itsnt bad but they are developing. 14/15 indoor games is crazy…
He’s never been to a AFC championship game, they both were NFC, but yes I agree with the rest of what you said Goff is way better than I initially thought. I was hoping he’d be an Alex Smith while trying to and find our “Mahomes” but he’s a lot better than that! He’s a QB that can outduel Mahomes and is undefeated against him! 🤷♂️👍🏻🩶🙌🏽💙
I disagree, bro. When it comes to the elements, you always prefer a QB that can play the same. You don’t know where you will play come playoffs nor if you need a game for seeding/division that will be in the cold. And now with the north getting better, two divisional games each season will be in the cold. The other knock on Goff is his mobility. I hope I’m wrong, but this is going to matter more in the next season or two.
So every quarterback has flaws, The good coaches and GMs make sure they cover up their quarterbacks flaws like Jared, he needs a good offensive like most quarterbacks so Brad and Dan, make sure our offensive line stays intact and he has good weapons to throw to
Stop it!Goff won at Arrowhead outside Won last two meetings in Green Bay outside Chargers outside so stop Colin saying this bull-ish.22-8 his last 30 starts.
Everything is working out great!? Look again debow, Detroits first 7 games are all on the road!! Not just on the road, but at opposite sides of this nation on every game!! San Francisco, then Buffalo! Chicago, then Dallas! I wouldn't call this a sure fit Super bowl season yet.
You're right. Last year was wasted for the lions. This is definitely the year to win. They got better but too many big contracts are coming up. Downfall of drafting so well.
ITS AMAZING HOW RUNNING BACKS GET NO MONEY BUT RUNNING QUARTERBACKS (duel threat) are all the RAGE. Nevermind they FALL APART FASTER and develop their ACTUAL QB SKILLS MUCH SLOWER THAN A TRADITIONAL POCKET PASSER. With the exception of Steve Young I just don’t see it. RG3/Cam Newton (Superman) JUSTIN FIELDS AND JODH ALLEN JUST GIVE ME GOFF!!!
@@JWLSports I would agree with you on that but have you seen their schedule it is a gauntlet they play one home game to start the season in over a month and a half and then they finish the season with two away games that division is trash outside of Kansas City
@@JWLSports plays in the cold like the best of em 😂. Plays better than Love with that perfect passer rating I guess late in the year when the packers were on their huge run.
@@JWLSports MVP no, Super Bowl possibly. This will be a big year for him. I wish I could say he still has the same coaching staff and he finally has some consistency but even that’s not true. But if he puts similar numbers up and they get some sort of run game going, they have even more potential to be a scary team next year. Buccaneers have a better overall team this year and they finally got some nice blockers up front to complement Tristan (they should be able to make it to the NFC title game dependent on who they match up against. It seems like Cohen never stays longer than a year wherever he goes but it would be nice to have him for two years at least to see what happens. Do I think the Buccs will still win the NFC South again? Yes. I’m a huge Cousins fan as well but the Falcons are a poorly run organization and I just don’t buy them winning the division. I’m more concerned about the Saints if I’m being honest.
I really don’t how good Loves arm really is All I’ve seen him do is throw Blooper balls after bailing from the pocket for no reason cause there’s no pressure. 🤷♂️
True. NRG Stadium (Cardinals) and State Farm Stadium (Texans) are domed stadiums with retractable roofs. Roofs are closed for inclement weather but they allow for natural turf.
He has all this to say about Goff and admits he can’t play outdoors. Goff is not even close to good enough to have the 2nd highest contract as a QB and I’d say the same exact thing if Brock got that.
No QB is worth any of the money these guys are getting. Just think 10-15 years from now QBs will be possibly getting $1Bil contracts or Bitcoin because the US dollar fucking sucks!
