The hereditary chief of Samoa's Manono Island 

Herbert Samuel Phineas was born in Fiji of New Zealand parents, but was brought up by his Samoan foster father on the island of Manono. He was a hereditary chief of the island, a title which other Samoan chiefs gave him.
In 1961 the ABC met Mr Phineas in Apia and travelled to Manono for a feature about his extraordinary story.
