Talk about Hero of the South, if you retrace the flashbacks you will recall in one of those, Eisen brought him up and talk about should they pick up the pace, and he was also refering him as the strongest hero of the time.

Yes it is very confusing when two characters clash that have precognition. And more so when one goes into his fate and doesn't "change" it. Or all his effort to change it will in any possible future scenario lead to the same outcome. 23:09 In the Chapter 64 Frieren says: "no, not a soul", when asked by Stark: "There is nobody here, is there?" looks like foreshadowing that the "priestess" is a fraud and in fact a demon. I wouldn't have picked up by the drawing of her looks that she is not mourning. I love the panel where Frieren steps on snek and in the background Stark and Fern are trembling in fear - they are marked by the time when Stark got bitten by the snake and only Sein could heal him. And we get a handholding - involuntary, but it counts. Nice read. You did very well in the pronunciations. Since you have no reference from a voice actor it is good. (About Schlacht - in this chapter the translator used the a with the two dots over it "ä" - since there is no word "schlächt" and "ä" is equal to "ae" it is either schlacht or schlecht. Later in the manga Schlacht comes up again without the "ä", but at this point it also could have been a awkward translation and the author ment "schlecht" which has the meaning of bad or wrong in german. In any case I think they will settle with Schlacht)

So. The demon king potentially knew that he was going to be defeated, unless that demon who can see the future hid it from him. Im sure we'll get a crazy plot twist at some point. BTW you'll love chapters 71-76. It's a mini arch you might also want to read together.

Hot take: The Hero of the South was stronger than the entire hero party combined. Hear me out - the party struggled to fight the Sages four on one (if you know, you know), and couldn’t even beat a lesser demon like Qual. But he fought against all the sages AND the demon king’s right hand man, managing to kill four of the strongest demons aside from the demon king. If Frieren’s party encountered all seven sages AND Schlacht at the same time it would’ve been their journey’s end. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Hero of the South could have soloed the Demon King himself, if he didn’t to face the sages and Schlacht. I think he might have been a greater hero than Himmel. Himmel was partly motivated by accolades. The Hero of the South sacrificed himself to carve the path for others to gain the glory and save the world. Only Frieren knew that he went to die willingly. No human, elf, dwarf, or demon has ever surpassed him in power level before or after. I hope we’ll learn a bit more about him in the future.

Hero of the South face 8 strongest demons at once and kill half of them (also here you can see nice little teaser to all Sages of Destruction) Just to pin down how cool this is - Seven Sages are at best (for our side) at same lvl as Frieren and members of her party. In worst case - whole party is not enough to defeat even 1 of them

It's the same like button Himmel pushed, after all. If I refused, all his efforts would have been wasted.

If you continue to read the manga I must warn you, because you will scream like those girls that saw Michael Jackson on a stage.

Oh btw, the reason why Frieren is insisting that she can't beat the demon king is that she experienced defeat by M**** 500+ yrs ago
