Living without fear - that’s what I always thought being a hero meant. I know better know. Being a hero means you feel fear so the ones you love never have to.
Be brave, Be courageous, Be kind, Be empathetic, Be patient, Be cooperative, Be intelligent, Be loving, Be respectful. But above all my child, be human. Do not fault your enemies. Do not internalize hatred, anger, or prejudice. The path to good and evil runs through the human heart. No one is born a hero, but rather heroes are made from the broken, downtrodden, and the poor. So my son, are you a hero?

Because not every hero come out , some save as an secret guardian, even though some may be heroes in their imagination, I'm sure they will save people if it comes because in imagination they know what to do , so they apply in reality and stand up....... The thing about heroes is, you only see them as such when you're not against them, seeing their horrific, monstrous nature. Heroes are only heroes because they saw the potential to be villains and decided to do good instead. Even then, it's only a matter of time. You either die a hero. Or live long enough to become a villain. That is the tragedy of a hero.

Part 15 Now, Damnatos, all throughout Hive Chemdrop Now or never. “Once they lose centralized leadership, the other rebel cells will run for the hills.” That’s what he had said. And Arkio klwas right. So while the citizens marched to free themselves under the guiding eye of his brothers and the 128th Storm Brigade, he took what remained of his 4th company to strike at the hidden cells. As he bashed another skull in with his shield, he once again noted that it wasn’t glorious work, but it had to be done, for the people of Damnatos to free themselves. Agrippa found himself leading another kill-team. Their strikes were quick. Quick enough that the rebels couldn’t warn eachother of their arrival. He scoffed. Fighting like this was easy. Once they knew where to strike, there was very little these rebels could do to stop the Astartes from wiping them out. There was no glory in these kills, but they were necessary nonetheless. To bring Damnatos back into the light. Varathiel was one of the three Astartes overseeing the assault on the palace. It was chaotic, with the soldiers of the Storm Brigade spread out as leaders for the fighting civilians. Varathiel took the front, leading by example, letting his heavy maul crack skulls and mangle limbs, until their improvised army burst open the gate to the palace. It was easy work, and the three Astartes present could likely have done it alone. There was no glory to be gained here, but they would gain victory. Kiephros bent down over another screaming body. It was one of the civilians that were fighting in the palace. He quickly treated the man’s wounds and told him to maintain rest, before moving on to the next person. This was far more repetitive, and a lot less challenging than treating his brothers, but Kiephros would not complain about saving lives. There may not be glory in this work, but he could save lives. Ashint was the first into the Governor’s command center. He sliced down everyone standing between him and Treiff, moving too fast for anyone else to keep up. There was no glory jn these kills, but now that he held the rebel leader at swordpoint, what little glory there was in this campaign, would be his. Verillion watched his brothers rejoin together in front of the palace. They were all covered in blood, though none of it was their own. It had been a slaughter, on his end too. He had not seen bloodthirsty enemies, not seen daemonic plagues or xenos filth. Just terrified men and women. Looking at his brothers now, it dawned on him. There was no glory to be found in the Damnatos Campaign. There was only Death.

He stepped forward. Now was not the time to cower. The enemy was approaching, slowly, but surely. The glimmering warrior cut through Cathian's friends as if they were just vines in his way. Cathian drew his sword and charged, leaping up high and coming down behind the Godling. He swung his sword and struck the red plate, leaving a mark on the armor, but not harming the person inside. The Godling spun around and smacked Cathian's sword out if his hand, sending a jolt of pain through his arm. Cathian dodged the first swing of the mighty greatsword, then rolled to the side and grabbed his sword. The two blades met with a clang that sounded almost musical. The force sent pain through his arm. Cathian heard a snap, and his wrist screamed in agony. The Legend thrust his sword too quickly and pierced Cathian's chest. He'd lost. He'd failed. The world seemed to slow down. He was back at his house. There were fires all around him. His parents were trapped behind the fire, his sister sobbing beside him. The ceiling fell. He was at a large camp. People, many looked injured, going to various tents. This was where he'd taken Lyla. They should be safe here. At least for now. He was with Xailey at the top of the hill, staring out at the sunset. It was especially pretty that night. The night he proposed. But he'd failed. Never again would he see those beautiful green eyes. Never would they be married. Never, would they see each other again. Cathian closed his eyes and fell backwards. It was over. Cathian, was dead.

To me a hero is someone who hates everyone and everything but will still go out of his way to do good no matter what for he still wants to do that despite those emotions
It's EASY to play the hero in real life. In real life usually no one wants to play the villan. Everybody loves a hero. But without the villan nobody needs a hero.
The people who want a villain just so that they can have a hero to love don't deserve to have a hero. They wish suffering and misery on others, including possibly the people close to them, just so that they can witness a hero saving the world from a villain who didn't need to exist. If a truly honorable warrior does not desire battle even if he is prepared should it prove necessary, then truly wise people do not desire evil times even if they hope that a hero would rise to save them. It is better never to need a hero to begin with.
if you think going around the country killing wherever you go makes you a hero you're not just a fool, you're a dangerous fool. you are a tool of war, and you don't even see it. heroes don't start wars, they end them heroes don't start conflict, they seek peace if killing needs to be done seek no pleasure in it no matter the prey but if life needs to be saved, save them a hero is remembered not in the wars he waged but the lives he saved
This chapter was so disappointing. The kid was forced to face reality, and ended up choosing the unfortunate path that led him to his death. All he wanted to do was protect his sister.
