The problem here is not the intensity of them wanting to take care of her, the problem is that their relationship is not like when they were teenagers, and they went everywhere together. Due to the distances, the relationship is no longer the same, and this is reflected even in the way of sitting, before Jianjian sat in the middle of his brothers, now she does it in the middle of his parents marking a clear line of separation. Actually She still loves them but she doesn't know how stay with them now. They have been separated and without communication with each other for a long time.

The dinner scene was intense. Although both 'brothers' cared about her so much, you see the differences by how serious the other one was. To demand to break up with her boyfriend in front of the dads, even the fathers were speechless.
Actually, I find this scene annoying though. The reason the big brother wanted her to break up is because he like her and wanted to date her instead. Second, he don't feel the guy he date is up to his standard without even trying to know and understand the guy. They simplify just judged him and badmouth him without clarifying anything.
One of the brothers just feels protective like a real bro, the other is jealous and borderline possesive. He was already thinking about marrying her when hes still in singapore so he was shocked she got a boyfriend. Remember when they were apart, only Ling Xiao was telling her over phone calls to never get a boyfriend, always reminding her.
I understand Jianjian the most. Her so called 'brothers' overstepped their boundaries in her life. Even if they were trying to be protective, they should know that she's already an adult who doesn't need people dictating her life when her own dad doesn't even do so. They walked out of her life basically and now they're barging in, disrupting the peace and flow of her life. I know they're trying to be like in the past but they should know that people change especially someone who lived her life trying to get used to a life without their presence. They were honestly too much, they should get hurt by her words but have absolutely no right to get mad at her. If anyone should be mad, it's Jianjian.
Nah you only say that cause youre a girl...the brothers are right in this one. & If you actually finish the drama you would see they were right all along
@@anthonygarcia3922 I watched the entire drama 3 times to see different perspectives. No matter how protective a brother can get, they should not overstep boundaries of their sister's privacy. Also, she is perfectly aware of the guy she was dating, she knew his artist side and they don't. They're the ones who had nasty thoughts. Also, when a person who's been gone in your life for so many years starts telling, not even telling but commanding you on your life decisions, wouldn't you feel offended? I would and it's not just because I'm a girl. Any person would feel the same way she did, regardless of GENDER. And it's not like they told her all those things because it's for her own good but because they were jealous.
The years they spent seperate change everything...young and adult is not the same anymore...they care about her but 9 years without them and suddenly they got back and just behave like when they young can be really awkward and stress for the heroine...she just angry bcs 9 years they are not there and she felt she lose her brother not bcs she doesn't love them
I feel like you have to have watched the whole series to quite understand this scene. For Ling Xiao, he may have spent 9 years away from her, but he spent that 9 years in mental anguish. In later episodes you see that the time he spent away was very hard for him mentally and the only thing that held him together was the idea of going back to her. To make himself feel more stable he would dream of the life he would have with her once they were together again. He had it all planned out: dating, marriage, children. Even his career choices were based on her. It may sound a little obsessive (which it is) but planning their life together was holding him together for all of those years. When he got back and found out that she had a boyfriend, you can clearly see that all of his plans and feelings were falling apart before his eyes. He shouldn't have demanded that she break up with her boyfriend: however, once you look back at this scene, you begin to understand that his anger was really just fear.
@@gege3723 Didn't they all try though? I know there was a scene where they all tried to call each other on the phone and catch up with how they were all doing, but they all got busy with school, work, and life so naturally they slowly stopped communicating.
As an asian, it is common in Asian families to judge the significant other of a relative, a family member or even a close friend/family friend. I understand that there are a significant amount valid reasons for her to not date the guy (he had graduated for years already and was still living off of his family and was being supported by her) It may have been frowned upon since it is common in an Asian household and community for each partner to be financially capable on their own, for them to have an acceptable relationship together. Though their reasons may be valid, the method the so-called brothers used was slightly toxic.
I understand the two brothers is trying to protect her, but they've been away for 9 year and not only that, they don't share anything with each other (jianjian later mention that in the episode, during their initial long distance with her brothers were fine but as the time passed, they hardly exchanged any conversation except for wishing on holiday or occasion) and what hurt Jianjian the most is that their brothers chose their biological parents who abandoned them, ultimately leaving Jianjian alone, she waited for her brothers to visit her during New year and during graduation, leaving Jianjian more hurt, considering how close they were, when they were kids. And I guess, at some point during those time without her brother, made her think that maybe she shouldn't expect anything since she is not real family. And that's why Jianjian said that "you guys are not my real brother so stop acting like one" that's what she meant. Actually I feel bad for all the kids here, theirs parents aren't worthy enough to call parents except for Jianjian' dad and Dad Ling.
She was devastated when the brothers suddenly left her.she loved them protected them .they were her most precious people. She could not believe that they could abandon her. She couldn't accept their leaving. More so she believed that she was equally important to them.it had taken her a long time to come to terms with the sudden change in her life. Now that she finally was getting on with life it was difficult to just accept their return.
Girl got abandoned by them, so she got her own life. Then they come back and think they can decide what she has to do? I understand how it happened, but they really had no right.
she didnt understand that were held hostage. one had the threat of his bio father hurting his family, the other had the threat of his mother killing people lol
The main issue is that they left. They had limited contact with her (for their own personal reasons) but they didn't tell her why. Then one day they come back expecting everything to be the same and it's not. Now she has someone she likes who she is close with and they pull this of course she's not going to react well. She had a whole life away from them after being sort of abandoned. Not nice boys!
Honestly I didn't hate their initial actions. They may be wrong but they worried about her. But then trying to intimidate her boyfriend or forcing her to breakup is too much extreme. I know what she said was also very bad but she wasn't in her right mind after they tried to literally control her.
Its because Ling Xiao have a sudden "panic attack" knowing that Jian Jian has a boyfriend which is not him. He's been dreaming to be together with her romantically for 9 years in the extent of being obssessed. And when he finaly somehow get a grip of her, she already find someone she likes. He absolutely can't help but being possessive of her, and desperately insist her to break up with him. It must be it or he will be the one that broke in the point of no return. He was jealous and desperate....
The reason to demand breakup is not because they are the brother that care about her. Actually, at that point of time, the big brother already like her and wanted to date her. but he using the brother stance to demand her to breakup which i find it quite annoying, the fact they disappeared on her( no matter what reason). then come back to abuse his family boundary. I like the drama as a whole, but this is one of the few scene I find annoying.

She tried to keep the peace by asking everyone to eat and they still refused to listen. Also she's a woman who can make her own decisions about who she wants to date.
@@nurhartiniputeri we all know this but thanks for explaining. illness does not excuse asshole behaviour at a family dinner . the 2 brothers not only backed jianjian into a corner, they also ruined the peaceful atmosphere for the entire family. jianjian tried to maintain the peace by saying "let's eat" but they ignored her. she's not in the wrong at all

i have 3 upper brothers.. and 2 of em acted this way , not because they're being protective or care for me, more like they're scared of their karma would turn on me. they used to play feelings with someone's daughter and now they're thinking all men are the same and they dont trust the man who wants to be with me . that is why u shouldnt play with anyone, and now im 12years single. not because i dont want to be anyone.but im tired of having a brothers who dont trust me.
nah no matter how protective they are this isn’t right. they think they’re still her brothers and need to protect her but for jian jian had alr felt that she was left by them, they didn’t keep contact with her, and she’s become an independent woman who can handle things on her own. i can understand why they wanna protect her and all but they over stepped their boundaries

The brothers are unnaturally fixated on her. And the father is siding with them. Maybe it's the cultural differences, but this looks like a very unhealthy environment for the sister.

But this is a family drama and everything should end in a happy ending, I feel the same with her, I think there are things that are in the past, the harm that people in our family do to us has a limit to be accepted and forgiven!
The boys non biological brothers overstepped. They both like her so they don't want her being with someone else and even if they want to protect her like what do they think will happen they are just eating in a place both her father and their father works . They should trust the girl and realise she not a baby she a grown woman who was fine on her own for many years without them she can protect herself. What she said was hurtful but she was upset angry frustrated annoyed so she had an outburst and said some harsh things that she probably didn't mean its normal you say things you don't mean when you are angry.
She let all the thing that keep inside for long time, her emotion is perfectly describe in her face. Thats the dangerous thing if you try to put her in the corner.
I understand shes frustrated they left but were they even given an option to stay... One left with rich dad coz if not the dad would ruin his family the other one left for the mom who kept him in complete torture....
