I spent a week of January 2023 on the island of Phu Quoc in Vietnam eating the street food, seafood and exploring the hidden beaches. In the video I travel to Starfish Beach, Khem Beach, Ong Lang Beach and Cua Can River. I try the street food at the Bach Dang Night Market and explore the very strange ghost city of Sunset Town.

The South Vietnamese pronounce Phu Wok , but the right pronunciation is Phu Quoc . They also pronounce the V like a Y . For example Con Voi ( an elephant ) they pronounce Con Yoi or Va (and) they say Ya that makes foreigners confused .

That explains why some of my Saigonese friends tell me I sound like I'm from Hanoi when I say simple things like Xin chào. I must be doing it by the book. It's not an easy language in the first place for sure.

We Southerners don't use "và" when we speak. We use "với" instead.

Yeah the DJI Pocket 2 is great! I'd prefer to shoot things in a more cinematic style but it's too time consuming to make content on a consistent basis. The Pocket 2 and DJI Mini 2 are my go to tools for RU-vid. Thanks for watching.

Do you have an international motorcycle license? Is the lack of one largely ignored there? I found so much conflicting data on this. A first hand account would be very appreciated.

I do not have an international license. In many cases it wouldn't make a difference. If the police pull you over, they aren't leaving without being paid a bribe. Lack of a license might just make it easier for them to "fine" you. If you have your paperwork straight, they are likely to invent some other "violation". 500 baht is the going rate for police stops in Thailand. The last time I was flagged down to stop I just grabbed the throttle and flipped them off. Accidents are the same. Once the police get involved they want to be paid bribes so people generally settle the accidents themselves before the cops show up.

phu quoc is over rated.. Not cheap either if you want quality. GREAT weed though. Best in asia, perhaps after Thailand now. Not even sure after what I got :p only reason hard to leave and the looooooving people. Really is something.

No paperwork necessary. I've flown into Vietnam about 6 times with it. Just don't let the cops in saigon catch you. They may confiscate it.

The new city is inspired by Mediterranean theme and broke ground in 2018, everything is still under construction, according to the developer website of the Địa Trung Hải Phú Quốc, apartments will be handed over to owners in May of this year, as of right now they're still working on the finishing touch . Along with that the shopping mall and the Kiss Bridge also working on the finishing touches. Give it until the end of this year of one year from now when the entire city is completely done . Another city complex is the Grand World Phu Quoc inspired by Venice theme, a foreigner youtuber also filmed this city near Tet and during noon when most Vietnamese taking nap, and he claimed the place was deserted. Grand World Phu Quoc however is jam packed with people when the sun is down .

Thank you for the info. It's hard to find the story about Sunset Town. I'm not a huge fan of that kind of development but I would like to return and see it when it's occupied and full of life.

@@FollowBrando Oh that's just 1 of 326 projects is currently underconstruction in Phu Quoc, the total investments for them all is 16.5 Billion USD.... If you want to see these projects type "cac du an Phu Quoc" ....you will see how many grand resorts and urbans are being underconstruction right now. You need flycam to see them all, their goal is to turn Phu Quoc into the second Singapore.

@@FollowBrando I feel your pain Brando, over the Sunset City...Unfortunately those in charge of tourism development seem to think that anything foreign means exotic and anything exotic is worth razing down the local natural beauty for. That way of thinking has ruined many beautiful spots in VN already (geez, those cable cars. They have disfigured the view of the front bay in Nha Trang completely.) Vietnam is late to the tourism game and trying to catch up, not in a good way...Anyway take good care of yourself while on the road, at one point day2/3? it looked like you were taken over by over-exhaustion. And then here is the Harbor, which is right next to the night market I covered in the video. In between that Dendi Resort and the Harbor is where I would suggest to be walking distance to Long Beach, the night market and shops and restaurants. I am going to visit Vietnam soon . Just wondering if I can bring my drone through Vietnam airport ? Do we need to have any permit from Vietnam government ? Thank you

You won't have to worry about your drone at the airport. In Ho Chi Minh City the police have been known to confiscate drones. They chased me out of the city park so I flew it from my hotel roof. It didn't seem to be an issue in the beach cities of Da Nang, Vung Tau and Phu Quoc, though I was probably technically breaking some law.

@@huyentranle3711 They did not. And I had my suitcase inspected because I forgot to take out the drone batteries and put them in my carry on. So I got called to security and had to take the batteries out in front of the tsa type guy. Just worry about where you fly it. Don't worry about flying WITH it.
