Except the bible isn't a history book n the crucifixion of Jesus never happened in physical existence. The bible was written in the east (Jerusalem n Ethiopia). The east never taught spiritual knowledge literally. This alone proves the bible is metaphorical/metaphysical. The crucifixion of Jesus is a process u do inside ur own body to fuse ur conscience with God's (Christ Consciousness). It's the "death" of the ego. Ego death. Guys let's not put someone down because they translated it in their terms, afterall, the Bible does speak in metaphors of course and parables, but it's also a spiritual guide for our own interpretation, no one can be wrong on their points. It's a guide to live a happy healthy life, and to give your praise to the Almighty. Therefore if you're able to interpret it in a way that makes sense to you, and gives you comfort in any sorrows you're going through, then you're not wrong. The Bible and the words in the Bible aren't just one way, it's a book of many ways. My great aunt is a preacher whom gave me a similar response to what I just said. The ancient numbers in the Old Testament also tell of this same prophecy. They found many ways to tell of Christ's sacrifice, resurrection, and return in the ancient world.

I checked on the meanings of each of the names. The only big disagreement is with the name Lamech. There are two Lamechs: the one in Cain's lineage and the one in Seth's.. Cain's Lamech is associated with "Despairing" but Seth's Lamech's name means Strong or Powerful. I find that taking the correct Seth's lineage Lamech makes.the message even stronger (pun intended). It's legit. I looked up all the names' literal meanings myself, with various sources. They mean what OP says they mean. They're all listed in that order in Genesis 5. The Lord had it all planned from the beginning. Praise the Lord!
Try the translations again. It's even more powerful then what you say. Mahalalel actually means mighty rising; glory of brightness; mighty exaltation; raise a joyous shout to God. But, whoa! I double checked this and you were absolutely right! Those are what the names translate to.
I find the figurative prophetic interpretation less convincing. It could mean phases of man's evolution and growth as a people. It's one big story or explanation clipped into a biblical shorts.
