In this video, I break down the TRUE cost of running a basketball facility.. Most people have no idea of all the hidden costs of running a basketball gym. If you want to own or open your own gym you need to know how much it will ACTUALLY cost to run on a monthly basis.
There is so many expenses that go over most people's head. It is not just the lease payment or even utilities, this video I go through small things such as payroll/accounting services, general upkeep, supplies, scheduling software, and even payment merchant so you can accurately run the numbers if you are looking to open your own facility.
I also take this video from the angle of someone who wants to open a facility for the purpose of renting out the court.. Running a gym for the sole purpose of renting it out can be a tough business model as I will show you in this video. It is certainly possible but this video will give you a good depiction of what it would really take.
Overall, it is not as easy as some think to "just open a basketball gym" it is absolutely possible, especially depending on the area you are in, but understand what it'll really require and look like.
I hope this video helped all of you guys understand everything that goes into running a basketball facility from a financial point of view.

I’m just now watching your videos and really like the knowledge you’re spreading! I want to open up a gym in Delaware. I’m not a trainer but love ball and want to open up a gym that allows people to have memberships they pay monthly and can come as they please to hoop and then have a price you must pay to come and hoop at the gym if you don’t own a membership and just have open court runs for everyone and of course rentals would be an option as well for anyone. Is that model more lucrative since the amount of traffic coming on a daily basis could be pretty high? I’m sure upkeep and hiring help would be more important and dig into profit

I don’t think that is the best model to go with, price point for size of gym you would would make it tough, since most people would come during a day 4-6 hour window you’d be limited to number of people who can really utilize that membership, better to offer a mix, can do that membership model where people can come and hoop whenever but want to focus on court rentals and use membership during dead hours

Hi - impressive, great to see the grind to get things going. Do mind sharing the scheduling software and/or CRM that you use to run the gym?

Good Morning, Im looking into opening my own Basketball Facility but i want it to hold atleast 6 full courts. Where i would be running tournaments and what not. My question is regarding Leasing a building or trying to buy a building. Me thinking leasing but then all the work done to the facilty just to have to pack it up one day... just trying to see the better route to take.

Just do a longer lease, such as a 10 year lease

Aloha. Iʻm looking to start a training facility out here in Hawai`i. What kind of square footage you got and how high do you think the minimum ceiling height needs to be. Mahalo!

Love it! My gym is 3300 sq feet, perfect for training business, and minimum height ceiling I would say is 20 feet

@@tjltraining Awesome. What kind of flooring did you use. Do you also rent your space out for activities other than basketball. Iʻll be checking out a space but this week sometime but itʻs only 1200 sq ft. and lease is about $2400 per month.

@@NN-og4kj 1200 sq feet is def a little tight, be patient to find the best possible space. Flooring I used is a synthetic hardwood from icon surfaces. highly recommend them.

Left this on another video but how do you feel about developing on leased property? Can the owner take your gym?
@tjltraining

What do you mean by developing ? They can’t just take my gym, all equipment in it is mine

Do you think leasing a gym is easier and more profitable than buying land and building a gym?
@tjltraining
@tjltraining 2 года назад
all situational, in the long term owning the land and building, will be more profitable, short term lease could be better
