It’s the healthy thickness of her hair that most impresses me. I don’t care about the obsession on hair length. Our hair naturally rises. I love big hair!

Oh yes I have to agree, I love to see thick, dense hair. My hairs got thinner in the last few years, but even when my hair was thick, I always admired people with thicker hair than me. It's truly a sign of vitality in my eyes 😍

IKR....I respect you for saying this Sis cause it can be so annoying sometimes. Some of these naturals work on their hair like it's a separate 9-5 job...making sure it has Moisture...making sure it has protein, learning what to do and not to do. It takes work and patience and a whole lot of consistency so it just so annoying when they ignore all of that and come with the LAZY Genetics argument.
@MutaleM

I absolutely agree with you. She has been very consistent and consumes teas, fruits and vegetables like that is her ticket to heaven. I recall 8 years ago when her hair was so thin and short. Consistency and hard work beats genes.

Her hair is a sign of a healthy body honestly. My first 2 and half years natural I grew 13 inches of hair. Then I got lupus it fell off grew back not the same. Got fibromyalgia it fell off grew back even more brittle. Recently diagnosed with cancer. Now regrowing from scratch after chemo and radiation. Healthy hair happens with great and consistent hair care but also health care.

OK I only stated the downside. But diet really helps in repairing the body. I discovered spinach or kale as a smoothie with pineapple or green apples with a handful of walnuts. A few cups of this works sick or not. Chemo wasn't bad for me because of this. I think it will more than work for hair growth.

I have learned naturals with extremely long hair (hip length) leave there hair alone. I realized the reason we rarely see naturals with such length is most people give up on protective style after a certain length. Maybe by waist length or mid back, as it takes a lot of protective styling and diligence to grow your hair out to this length. Especially if you have hand in your head syndrome or love styling your hair everyday. I can only dream to get to this length. Her hair is stunning.

Protective styling is one of the reasons i feel helped her achieve this length and when i say protective styling i mean hidding the ends of her hair in, because that's one way of making sure our ends don't break by not exposing them. I see her doing this a lot even when she styles her children's hair and i adopted that method as well and i have seen great result doing that so kudos to her and thanks for sharing this 😊.

I started my natural hair journey back in 2016 and I experienced a major setback from severe stress and bad products, my hair went from armpit length to shoulder length in 2019 and I had to unlearn and relearn everything just to be able to start again. This is 2024 and I’m happy my hair is flourishing, we are currently at a little past waist length. I really enjoyed this video, no lies detected here from my experience. 🎉

I have been natural for 8 years after doing the big chop. My hair grew so fast my first three years and dumb me got a silk press that damaged all my curls and hair. So, I ended up cutting it again. 5 years later and it is growing but not at the rate it did my first 3 years. I only Want big hair not rapunzel hair but for me the set back definitely was my length retention issue.

Hi. I'm on that wagon. I'm natural. Have been for oh, four-ish years and I'm a person who never visits a salon so I thought, why not do something nice for myself. So, I went and got a silk press. Bad move. That stylist burnt my hair. I would have thought she knew to use a heat protectant. In any case, I had to big chop and now im back to a twa. No more stylists for me.

Comments about genetics….Sometimes genetics play a part but even with that you have to take care of your hair. My granddaughter’s hair is super kinky and dense, she’s 10 with waist length hair. Black hair will grow we just have to be consistent with caring for it. I’m not against extensions, but I have never added it to her hair. I kept her hair in mini twists and washed her hair every 6-8 weeks. People ask me what oils are you using etc… the key is routine, maintenance, hydration both inside and out.

Coily Chrissy, I really appreciate your videos! You are very informative and thorough, great content and tips! I have been watching your videos off and on for almost a year. I'm an older woman, 66, medium length natural hair. My hair is growing slower than I'd like I'm thinking due to my age, yet it's growing. I think youth helps our hair to grow faster. Menopause slows hair growth unfortunately. I have about three types of hair textures on my head. I'm a 4C hair type, salt and pepper hair color. The hair on the center of my head is shorter and I'm trying to get it to grow even. It is very stubborn. I've been really focusing on taking better care of my hair for the past 5 months wearing the twists, massaging it more often and it's improving. Your tips give me hope! I love your inspirational scriptures, and I too pray over my hair and annoint it with holy oil. Thanks for all that you do, keep up the good work. Your hair is gorgeous, very thick! I love it and I see your growth. You have a beautiful and sweet spirit!

I guess she has a point.. I went natural in 2010.. but I tex lax after a year. It look nice and was doing well, then... it all went wrong, my mum died, then the tex lax made so many knots at the ends. Then it thinned out not sure why maybe shock, I don't know. So I gradually cut out the tex lax! . So I guess that was my setback! I should have waist length hair but its only bra strap.. been that way for 2 years as well. People say it looks nice but I'm not happy. Thinking of cutting it really short. Sad I didn't reach my goal!.

Hugs. I don't have long hair because my hair is genetically weak. I'm a Thalessemia carrier, I have neurodivergent stress, and I live somewhere with limited sunlight so i have low vitamin D. Now that i know these things I'm just happy being me because i cannot change these things as they are part of my genetics. So I just give my hair the best care I can and wear extensions once or twice a week if at all. You are not cursed and as long as you do your best to keep your hair and scalp healthy you are doing ok. Some of us just have hair loss and that is ok. It doesn't make us less than the other person.

Hay, you can grow your hair down to your waist and not be natural. I have several times. I TexLax my new growth every 16 weeks. Using a relaxer 3 times a year, I under process my hair to make it more manageable. Anyone can grow their hair long, weather you are relaxed, natural, or TexLax. It's all about finding a healthy haircare routine that works for you and sticking to it.

One major contributing factor to being able to growth length like hers that is rarely spoken about is that when women with genetically rapid hair growth (one half to one inch per month) become pregnant, their hair's growth rate is supercharged resulting in an abundance of hair growth during their pregnancy and childbearing years. Moreover, if they have a robust type of hair AND they have a robust hair care regimen for retaining length, it is not difficult for them to experience exceptional hair lengths. Just think about all the natural hair content providers on RU-vid with exceptionally long hair. Many of them have young children.

Why the obsession with long hair. Black women are blessed with naturally long hair. As long as you don't relax your hair and you moisturize it often, your hair will grow. Moisturize always. Twist your hair. Wash your hair once biweekly. Deep condition, moisturize, Twist again. Eat lots of eggs, it is rich in biotin. Do this often and thank me later.
