+Sturla S Thanks for this! Oh my gosh I remember watching this on tv way back then with my Dad, we loved it!! Got tickled at one point and we wondered what went on that we couldn't see when Kris rolled his eyes back at something that one of them did! Perfect timing for me as Dad is in the hospital not doing so well and this gives me good memories!!! :)
Thank you for posting this. These women and men still sing my life and help me work through all the big issues. Thank you outlaw country music. I'm listening in 2024. Who else is with me?
The man is an Absolute genius! My favourite was Waylon because of that distinctive voice, though Mr Cash was a very close second but when it comes to all round quality there’s none better than Kris… There’s no doubt Willie is great but I just can’t get to grips with the way he speeds every lyric up 🤣 like sing the song man, no need to be rapping 🤦♂️
Thank God for video! There are a lot of kids who do "song reactions" on RU-vid. A few specialize in country. I submit songs to them frequently, as do others. I think we've made quite a few fans for these guys, together and apart. Keep in mind that some of these kids weren't even born in Waylon's or Johnny's lifetimes! With all these great videos I think we can keep growing the fans forever.
Yes Waylon is gone too. These 4 are the greatest. True to their talents, each other and giving of themselves to the fans. Pure unaltered musicians, each a legend in their own way. Love them 💕
I'm 13 and only two of these great people are alive in my lifetime, but I prefer them over any other singers. They sing with a whole lot more emotion than any other singers, they actually make music that sounds great, and they make music that touches the soul. Because of this, to me, they are the best singers I have ever heard.
Man if you have ever been lucky enough to see a concert like this live.....even once in your lifetime, you are one of the luckiest humans to ever live!!!
i saw them at the Mirage in 1990. I imagine it was very close in time to when this show was recorded. I was 11 years old. It was a dinner show. We had the table front and center and my elbow was on stage the whole time. At the end, Willie walked over and shook my hand. I still remember it like it was yesterday. Was amazing introduction to these Legends as a young kid.
I don't know why people don't think that Kris belongs on stage with Waylon, Johnny, and Willie, he is every bit as much a legend as them, and personally, I like the way he sings and performs.
This is a wonderful group of men that I wish that I could have seen in person, I never had the privileg. I do have their cds. They were all very talented people. We are still fortunate in 2022 to HAVE WILLIE AND KRIS
I’m a 60’s rock and roll country girl, never liked country, found it to heart breaking and sad. Well at almost 70, I’ve come to appreciate the country music talent the last five years! When I think about it I’ve been blessed with the musicians and music I’ve had in my lifetime, that so many years later I come here to listen to it over again and discover performances like these fine gentlemen! I feel sad for the younger generation who really don’t have the sound of real music and long lasting performers. If the option is still available when they are my age there won’t be much to listen to and admire. No flashy videos, no lip syncing or outrageous costumes, just plain old talent playing their songs! And for those complaining about Chris’s singing, to me he is that guy at a house party who whips out his guitar and entertains you with songs and you sing, clap and dance to and love. Not as smooth or vocally talented as the others but a hell of a songwriter! And he believes in him self!
My husband was always a huge Johnny Cash fan, then later became fascinated with Willy Nelson but my man has always been Waylon since the late ‘50s, a real man’s man he was and I could listen to him for hours…what a voice and personality he had. Sure miss you but still listen often Waylon ❤️ Kriss, what a talented artist and gentleman he is, love all the amazing songs he has written…they are all so wonderful. When I need to forget all my wows I come here here and everything else just melts away. So much talent on one stage. R.I.P. Waylon and Johnny, we still love you 🇨🇦
While I was stationed in AZ, I had a second job in Mesa, and went to Waylon's Club across from ASU and I met both Waylon and Willie Nelson. It was a great experience. Later on when I changed branches of services and went to Fort Sam Houston and we went t0 Austin, Texas for one of Willie's 4th of July picnics. Another awesome experience.
@@merleormsby7488 The ring of fire was written by his future wife June Carter from the phrase in a 19th century book owned by her uncle A.P. Carter "Love is like a ring of fire" before he married her.
The sooul❤is a different story❤ Today internet, they don't let you write the truth, becose they are all part of a devolmru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bMdeg-WKt1U.htmlsi=_3iV_KePAnKdqvg3
I would have loved to see these guys perform but I never got the chance. The only one I have seen is Johnny. My mom took me to see him for my birthday one year when we lived in Wisconsin. My mom carried a note up to the stage telling Johnny that it was my birthday and he sang Happy Birthday to me in the middle of the concert. Something I will never forget.
That is a great memory to have. I was sick with bacterial meningitis which wiped out much of my memory. Luckily many of them are starting to return. I worked concert security in Chicago back in the 80s and 90s. I got to kick a lot of butt, throw out many jerks and even have a few arrested. It was a part of the job. We carried handcuffs at places like the Aragon Ballroom and we used them. There were so many fights they called that place the "Brawlroom". If the show was sold out and we would eject 5 or 6 people before the headline act came on, they would sell 5 or 6 more tickets. Three bus loads of us went from Chicago to Woodstock 94 to work Security. We had "All Access" wristbands and could go anywhere we wanted. We had to be in there the first night since they opened the gates and the crowd was coming in. These three guys were drunk and got in the wheel chair potties that were fenced on three sides. They could figure out how to get out so the climbed on top of one of the potties and jumped over the fence. One guy broke his ankle. I think that was the last time they could get an ATV into the place. His friends were telling him, "Don't worry. We will sell your ticket."
I saw The Highwaymen in Maryland many years ago. It was the best concert I have ever attended and I really miss all of them. I have a t-shirt with the four of them...it is one of my most prized possessions.
I'm sittin' here at 4:30am on a Winter Saturday night - thought I'd wind down after watching PBR at Madison Square Garden. I'm 69 years old, been watchin' and hearin' these guys all my life. I've never seen - and never hope to see - a more moving performance. Who cries while they're watching a country music video? I'm proud to say, "I do!"
Oh Waylon, a great singer/musician with an amazing voice and sound. He had a great sense of humor, always joking and making people laugh. Like Jessie said: "He had a heart bigger then Texas!" And damn he was good looking ;)
He was stunning. A raconteur, while simultaneously a gentleman. Courtly, southern masculine and eyes that danced with a waltz, the jitterbug and down & dirty dancin’ all glittering behind them.
Saw them 4 times. Greatest concerts I was ever at. It's a shame only 2 are still here. Can't wait to get to heaven to see them together again someday. The 2 still living could out live me. Then I get to greet them.
I had the same disease diabetes that took out Waylon Jennings. So I can totally relate some of the struggles he did the last part of his life and believe me it ain't fun. I respect Waylon Jennings, I've listened to all these guys songs all my life and they are awesome. I've seen them in concerts and on videos at 57 years old I still love them
Always come back to this........ open heart surgery from four (4) legends, poets, really. When Johnny looks into the camera, you'd think he was in the room, the connection is incredible. Band is hotter than a bandit's pistol.
This are the most country folks we miss Kenny we even lost Johnny cash but we always feel shivers listening this they are four musqueteeres of real country
My father has passed away 3 months ago and he had an amazing taste in music. Until i started going through his old LP's I had never heard of the highwaymen - I am hooked now. Bringing tears to my eyes now as I can recall dad with his headphones on singing these songs.......
In a world where words such as " legend","genius" etc are bandied about like snuff at a funeral, given to anyone who can stand on stage, what a delight to see these 4 boys performing/playing/enjoying their collective talents.Genius, legend all 4 of them.Their talent won`t be seen for a long time to come,if ever.Play on men, play on!
I was born in 83...found these guys (as a group) when I was about 25 after I had fell in love with all of them individually! Best super group EVER! Please we can't let younger generations forget about these legends! Check out a band called BlackBerry smoke and yelawolf with shooter Jennings! 👍✌ Please let me know what u think!
When i was 5 my grandma had all her grandchildren pick a song an would come sing with her every once in a while an i was talking to my girl about the new snoop dogg movie underdoggs an i was saying how willie nelson was a weed legend too an this was our song😢❤
Miss Johnny and Waylon and yes Merle too! Thank God we still have Willie and Kris even though he retired he's still among us. Love You Guys! They are the Greatest ⚘💜🐧⚘💜
I have personally met and interviewed Willie. I also did technical lighting for Johnny and June Carter Cash many years ago. I can honestly say they were probably the most talented and genuinely nice people I ever had the opportunity to meet. Once you see their high energy show, you realize what true entertainers they are!
Find the songs of Eric Bogle and be wowed some sad and powerful some funny as hell, he is all over here, listen to his versions many have covered his classics
When I was in my early twenties I had an older man send me a bunch of poems by Kris Kristofferson . It was such a wonderful present !! When I listen; I Remember. ... .
Nothing like them , never will be again... someone bubble wrap Willie , love them all , Amazing talent ,what music should be .. I have to admit born in New Orleans love a lot of different music ..but these here men will always be in my heart ;)
IT'S 2021,THE AMAZING HIGHWAYMEN, 4 OF THE GREATEST COUNTRY ARTISTS TO EVER PERFORM IN LAS VEGAS, NEVADA!! STILL MISSING ALL OF MY OUTLAW FRIENDS!!♥️🤠🗽
How sweet it is ta listen ta some real country music from those that left us with some good memories and those good country boys who just like brother Will Nelson are still giving us that good music that have. Hay, Willy love your western movies amigo.
Such pros these singers are. They can out write, out sing, and out perform so many "artists" of today across all genres of music. Just great performers! Go Waylon, Johnny, Willie, and Kris!
How stupid I was not to make sure I saw them in person...I loved all of them but never took the time. The day Waylon died my heart shattered into a million pieces!
That was my dad's favorite song to play and sing. I miss those days when I was younger living in Clemmons NC on highway 158. And I really dislike cancer with a passion.
I was lucky enough to see them live in Ohio. They're were even GREATER in person! It was the best live performance I had ever seen, or have seen since.. WAYLON JENNINGS, was a complete RIOT, as was KRIS KRISTOFFERSON! The song WRONG was great. I've never seen Shooter Jennings live, but he played his father very well in the movie..
WOW. Of these Giants of Country Music only two are still with us. Kris Kristofferson who is 79 years old and still performing and Willie Nelson who recently turned 80 years old and still performing. God love them both. You just don't find artists like this anymore.
How could you ask for any better these four men are legends in their own right ,but to put the four of them together it just doesn't get any better .Each man as their own style but it all comes together in this concert .They are the last of a dying breed .There will never be the likes again .Chris fits right in with these legends ,just listen to Johnny Lobo and tell me he is not worthy to share this stage with three legends such as Willy, Waylon and Johnny. Proud of all these men this is what country music is built on.
yeah they re together showing best consent country music. But now its sad for Johny and Willon had passed away several years jago left Christ and Willy. But their performance never
I feel I’m raising my 13 old son right when he said the highwayman are great. His favorite is Hank Senior my favorite is Hank 3 But Waylon is the best of all time
The top and the best of the best & they altogether...There is nothing like this in music for me. Four great singers and writers who until just before their passing still was honored, even still singing. We have been blessed in a great time...I grew up listening, watching these guys. It is more exciting because they all truly loved one another and in separate and full foursome interviews they said so...also said any one of them can fill a stadium or hall but put these 4 together and I play it over and over...one may sense their camaraderie.
I enjoy that you sing some of "The Sons of the Pioneers's songs" I grew up on all of the "old" country music because I remember listening to the Luzinna Hayride every Sunday Evening coming from my Mom's little red radio with Hank Williams Senior. That is still "My" music. I love all of you Waylon, Willie, and the boys, Johnnie and Kris. I am so thankful I can get it on this machine! P.S. I will be 87 on January 3rd, 2024. There is so much that I can learn about "Mama" Earth and so much more! I am very thankful that this machine was invented and for all the information that has been put on it "for me". 👵🐈⬛🐈⬛Me, Teo, and Two Two my 2 cats, 🥰
We saw these rally men get together to form the highwaymen with June Carter in Sydney Australia and the stadium was packed. June sang two numbers with Johnny, a night I remember too well, awesome with ad lobbing and jokes. Never to be surpassed.
Johnny's the one that I hear the most out of the four and he is the best musician I can remember in country. He'll be missed but love to hear his music all the time.
Every day I feel more identified with these wonderful musicians who will last in memory, it is a pity that the passage of time deprives us of their company, however they will last in history. Forever. The Highwaymen.
These guys together are not only a supergroup but also the four best male country singers ever. Each, in their own right, are the four best country songwriters ever too. I must say I dearly miss all four and pray that Chris is well and comfortable. Early in their careers Willy and Chris were behind the scenes writing some of the best country music for other stars.
