After seeing how Spencer and Heidi are in other TV shows and interviews over the years, it's pretty safe to say they're not faking all of their terrible behaviour.
I feel ya but maybe it’s one of those self fulfilling prophecy things. They’ve been constantly told they are one way so they just kinda fill that role naturally overtime. I’d imagine it’s hard to align with feeling like a good person and in turn being a good person if all these fans weresaying they’re horrible all the time.
That, or they're continuing their "character's" storyline. Maybe behind any camera, they project their "Speidi" persona. Because that's what people expect and want to see out of them.
I don't even care if it was fake and scripted, it made for good tv and I still watch all those episodes even though I've seen 'em all like ten times. I always considered it just another show, like all of my favorite shows.
I can't believe what a gullible preteen I was! I go back and watch the show now and just cringe at how totally fake and forced the scenes feel, like they are trying hard to pretend there are no cameras there and they are just "living life". LOL.
Lol as a teenager I used to laugh at the show & tell my friends it was obviously fake & they would all get mad at me like "no it's not stop saying that!"
The fakeness of it all finally hit me in the last scene of the last show where Brody and Kristen are saying goodbye to each other and all of a sudden the big backdrop screen of the beautiful beach and sunset were rolled away....actually "rolled away"....ON WHEELS! to reveal the set, or stage where it all took place.....even all (or most) of the scenery was even fake! They sure fooled me.
crazylicious85 Yeah, some of the things on Laguna was scripted, but not everything..The same goes for The Hills. They were put in certain situations/or told to talk about certain things by the producers but The Hills wasn't as fake in the beginning as it was when Kristin entered..
AJ N the reason why Lauren left was bc the show was toxic bc Spencer was basically doing really shitty things and saying stuff to the press to give the show publicity and it just went too far so Lauren left
I remember long time ago, she said her coach/manager whatever you wanna call told her, pictures will always be taken... look up a lot. Kinda like.. how Mariah Carey believed a photographer that one side of her face is absolutely better than the other side... she always take pics from one side. Or how Diana Ross eyes are always really big bc someone told her BIG EYES 👍🏻. They just kept that advice forever.
The Hills was one of my favourite shows as a young teen, like I was OBSESSED... fast forward to now and UnREAL is one of my favourite shows and in a weird way, made me respect The Hills as one of MTV's best produced shows
Actually... Lauren has said plenty. You have no clue what you're talking about. Lauren sat on the view and said she never received a call from Spencer, that it was all setup. She also said that she didn't want to be at Heidi and Spencer's wedding and how The producers literally locked her in a room until they needed her to film.
+blondie It was from Lauren's POV so she and production built storylines around her. No, when they gave Kristen an offer they told her "You're going to be the Bitch" and she said I'm game for whatever. They had all of their storylines planned out for season 5 and 6.
It wasn't all fake. The cast is partly trying to defend themselves for being idiotic on the show but Heidi and Spencer's love was real and are still married after so many years later and It really did conflict w Lauren greatly. Audrina and Justing Bobby did have a relationship that bad and they were dating a season before they started filming before justin trusted the crew. So although it is highly manipulated, some stuff is true but mostly fake :P
Gen O'donnell lc confirmed there was some Interesting editing while she was on the show. They would take a phone call and edit as if she was talking to someone else.
God I can’t believe how many people are willing to turn a blind eye when it comes to Lauren. Everyone thinks she is an angel, because she was written as the angel.
i gonna sum up my definition of them all : Audriana is just known as justin bobbys chic . heidi is the living barbie doll ( in the beginning , before she met spencer i actually liked her more then Lauren but boy she changed - its sad ) whitney is class act and lo is the side kick . Brody , the hunk obv but i never got why he and jayde wore together ? Frankie was the nice guy and Steff , always find herself in trouble .
yes me too . everyone deserve to get their dreams come true ! But i thought Brody is sincere both in the little you see in keeping up with kardashians - he always look up for his little sis and stuff , which i like and if you watch steff in made in chelsea you see her in different light ( made in chelsea - uk reality show )
Lo classy? To me she was the fakest of them all! She tried way to hard to come across as a real sweetheart which she just wasn't.. Lauren and Audrina where always my favourites.
The only ones I ever felt were on the more genuine side was Lauren, Lo (she definitely comes across as cold and bitchy to those outside her circle but girl was a fierce and loyal friend to Lauren and I will always give her credit for that), Whitney, Frankie, and Brody. Those were the only ones that never super rubbed me the wrong way. And I will always respect Lauren for walking away from the show and not looking back. It was toxic for all of them and her and Whitney giggled but were serious about having trust issues and whatnot due to filming this.
I can’t STAND lo! Never could. She’s fake as fuuuuuuhhh.!! Lauren I have a love hate relationship with…. She’s annoying and pisses me off but I kind of like her. The way she didn’t support Heidi but Heidi was ALWAYS there for her is absolutely disgusting to me. Yes it’s a little different because obviously spencer is … something. He’s definitely something… and didn’t like her but still. Lauren is very judge mental and came off as fake to me sometimes just the way she acted.
Bruh it was all fake but it was a historic show! I loved it lol I feel like the whole cast low key throw shade at the hills nowadays though it all makes sense now it really seems like all of them hated being apart of the show but hey they needed that check.
First - Anyone who watches this and says "it wasn't ALL fake!" Or "they're lying to protect their behavior" obviously knows NOTHING about reality TV. About 10 % of it is real life and the rest is made up drama. Their acting wasn't even good! Second -I think it's totally unprofessional for them all to trash the show and it's storylines now, long after they've gotten paid and milked the show for all it's worth. Nobody forced them into contracts or forced them to come back season after season. Last - WHO CARES? None of these people are relevant anymore, and neither is this show. Go back and watch reruns and enjoy it for what it was. I look at all reality TV like I do any TV show. I know it's not real, but I still get invested in the storylines. And once it's over, it's a good piece of nostalgia to revisit.
They all act like they were forced to do these scenes against their will but even if they were manipulated at the moment, they watched the tapes after and still continued to be in the show and get their check
Haha it wasn't ALL fake. When Kristen arrived it was all scripted though. Lots of Lauren's storylines were genuine e.g. sex tape rumour, her and Jason's relationship, her and Heidi's friendship drama
I believe most of the show was fake in that that the majority of their interactions were premeditated. However, the scenes involving Jessica, Jason and that big dark haired girl that stole him from Jessica seemed soooo real. I felt so sorry for Jessica. That’s how real I thought it was.
Lol ya nobody told him to make a fake story about Lauren’s “leaked sex tape” I remember Lauren kept calling him a “bad person” and Heidi’s like “what?” And Lauren kept saying “you know what he did.” And Heidi kept playing “what what??” She knew! At the time I actually naively thought Lauren was just posessive and jealous of Heidi not being Lauren’s friend anymore by always spending time with her boyfriend. But Spencer really tried to screw Lauren’s life over and that’s sad considering Lauren’s audience at the time probably were young teens
I knew it was fake. Throughout the show, I noticed that Lauren never did anything wrong. She portrayed herself as the scorn girl friend or best friend. I honestly believe that she sat with the people at MTV and told them, "Okay. I was the good girl on Laguna Beach. How do we keep that going on The Hills?" I like her a lot better when she left. Be blessed. 😀
I loooooooved The Hills and thought it was so real😂 I brought a DVD of season 1 recently and it is the cringiest show on the planet but preteen me would've fought you for saying it was fake
Haha it wasn't ALL fake. When Kristen arrived it was all scripted though. Lots of Lauren's storylines were genuine e.g. sex tape rumour, her and Jason's relationship, her and Heidi's friendship drama
The later season with Kristin was when the fakeness got super obvious. And they obviously showed us production with the fake sunset scene on the finale. But honestly i stand LC before I even knew what it was to stan
I think one of the reasons that we all didn't know the show was fake while it was still on air was because all of the issues on the show were completely normal and the relationships (seasons 1-5) weren't abnormal. Your friends date boys that you don't like and it hurts the friendship. That happens all the time. You like a boy and even though he doesn't treat you the best, you still want to date him. Happens even in adulthood. You like a boy, but scared to date him because you do not want to get hurt. We all have been there. There was nothing weird or off about the show because all the friendship dynamics are very normal and common. I have seen Lauren in other videos and she is so snobby. The way she speaks and talks about the show, as if she is better than the other ladies on the show and as if she was always better than anyone else. She has class, but she comes across as if she looks down on the other cast mates. She's not humble. I don't care for her as I hate people like that.
It definitely wasn't 100% fake. The producers obviously manipulated situations gradually more and more as it went on. I think after Lauren left (who was the most genuine one next to Whitney) they didn't care about sincerity & went fake as fuck. Season 6 was cringy it was so forced.
