upholding section 6A which provide citizenship to the foreigners of assam. SC has preserved this act to help identify who is citizen and foreigner in assam if this act repealed then same consequence as past situation.
The author was talking about the section 6a. He was saying that if Indian govt. will take section 6a back than it may cause undesirable consequences. Section 6a conferred deemed citizenship to the Assam people and the refugees of Bangladesh who came in India before January 1,1966. That refugees automatically conferred as citizens of Assam and those refugees who came after January 1,1966 to march 25,1971 , they have to make themselves registered as the citizen of india. This is the time when pakistan began Operation searchlight, a military to suppress the Bengali nationalists movement .

There is hold on Sec 6 A act of citizenship act 1985 to give status of citizenship to assamese. Highcourt is trying hard to protect this Act, so that no bad consequences should have to be go through by citizens. This Act states who should be considered as citizen of assam who entered before 1 jan 1966,and it was same day when Pakistan statred suppressig movement .
