Kanye is "FRIED" and Drake Died, The only good canidate to take the 3rd spot at this point is Eminem, and he's probably not gonna drop another album for the next 4 years so........ Edit: or JID...
These have been my favorite 3 rappers for a few years now, seeing someone logically bring them together under the GOAT trinity is just insane. One of the most immaculate videos I’ve ever watched.
I mean, considering Mr. Morale, I feel like Kendrick would be the Holy Spirit, as a driving force for the culture, someone who makes you think about it and influences other people to do the same, and also your savior he is not. His discography is good, yeah, but what Kendrick realized was that the flaws in his ideas and image displayed in TPAB especially, crushed his public image. The entire point of Mr. Morale, is that Kendrick will never be your savior if he sins, and he will, because he is a human like the rest of us. MF Doom could work as the Son, as a pioneer of the genre. Or another person. idk.
@@foodhorse that’s definitely the message on Mr Morale yeah. I agree that Kendrick isn’t capable of functioning as a literal savior cause he’s a flawed human being like the rest of us. Unfortunately for Kendrick his whole career, even during and past the Mr Morale Era has put him in this position culturally. Kendrick isn’t your savior, but you wouldn’t know that by looking at him. Especially with the continued Jesus analogies that he plays into.
@@bonelessbenny6039 Yeah, but still, Kendrick has always presented himself authentically in his music in all his albums, and whether that convinces anybody or not, it matters what he chooses to be, and that seems to be a leader and mentor for the culture.
@@bonelessbenny6039I think of it as this, when Doom passed away, Kendrick became the new Reaper of Hip Hop. To pave the way for hip hop as a culture to continue to evolve.
"Kendrick will never be your savior if he sins, and he will, because he is a human like the rest of us." Jesus being both human and divine is an important aspect to his divinity. He is both Son of Man and Son of God. Sure Jesus is sinless unlike Kendrick but I think it still fits him. Also like, he played into this a lot himself. "Before you get to the Father, you gotta holla at me first, bitch"
Yeah I battle with this too especially how I’m absolutely willing to write off a racist, an anti-Semite, a straight up asshole no questions asked But we know what’s up with Kanye and I don’t usually use mental illness as an excuse when we all have free will to seek help and to get better but for some reason, Ye gets my pass. I feel like a piece of shit about it though
Yea because when it’s comes to lyrical rap Kanye definitely isn’t one of the greats since he isn’t that good at rapping and has ghostwriters. But Beat selection and Producing/Cultivating is where he excels.
@@Maydupnem777 for the most part but not entirely true because he came out and said that he had Pardison Fontaine ghostwrite the Violent Crimes verses. So while it’s true that he credits all of em like 90% of the time he HASN’T credited every writer he has had in his career.
Some say that liking these three artists to a high regard makes you the "Final boss of RapTok 💀" but it is quite literally true, these three artists have generational influence in the Hip-Hop community.
Well done great video and love this theory. One part you missed was that MF’s family announced he passed away on New Year’s Eve, which I can only see as being a super villain and ruining every hip hop lover’s celebration with that announcement. Only thing is it made me celebrate in tribute to him
This is why RU-vid recommendations are a gamble, but I'm always glad to watch any video essay the high forces conspire to show us Awesome video, awesome style and editing. Thank you so much
yes but it is really shortsighted to say Ye had bigger cultural influence than Aphex or Daft Punk. for sure he changed sound of mainstream rap/pop in modern days, but the other mentioned made same influence in alternative music and art, or maybe even bigger.
I’m very glad the algorithm sent me here. I sometimes get side eyes and at others get agreement on this take but I classify TPAB as the greatest album ever. Any genre, any era, it beats any and every album ever made.
Which also happen to be the places that birth the highest crime rates. In the Bible it also states that righteousness is birthed from sin so it's pretty funny how everything aligns so well.
Just a note on the tragedy of MF. Man died of covid, and living in Britain, didn’t get help fast enough slightly because they didn’t know he was The Supervillain.
He did not died from Covid he died from Angioedema from his blood pressure medication and it was not that he did not get help fast enough it was that uk and most healthcare systems are Corrupt so he was mistreated
While Kendrick does make a good case for "the son." IMO Nas is the only son, he literally has "God's Son" across his belly. He is considered the golden child of hip hop, carrying the mantle from Rakim. His lyricism and storytelling are second to none. Like the son, he has "resurrected" his career recently through the 6 album in 3 3-year run with Hit-boy. He breaks through genre walls, especially through the album "Distant-Relatives" with Damian Marley. His subject matter is diverse and was the mainstream foundation for conscious hip hop in the 90s and into the 21st century. He constantly preaches about upliftment and saving/improving the world. He also has extremely introspective tracks on "Life Is Good", "KD3", etc. Although not the most constant discography across 4 decades, his peaks are as high as the goats, Illmatic, IWW, Stillmatic, LT, GS, DR, Life is Good, KD1-3, Magic 1-3. So yeah IMO nas is "the son" in the trinitarian goat theory.
I was shocked by how many subscribers you have, you absolutely deserve more. It’s awesome knowing that you’re making these while in school. Keep it up!
RU-vid algo coming through clutch. I’m sure you’ll have people that struggle to really hear you because they can’t grasp a differing opinion. But you did an amazing job getting your points across and I’m a big fan of your video. Subbed and looking forward to more. Good job young man.
Hip hop isn’t completed with this trifecta Like El-P, Kool Keith have to be in the same conversation as DOOM Lupe, Nas, Mos Def have to be in the same conversation as Kendrick Obviously Kool G Rap, Rakim revolutionized the technical aspects of rap. And yes, Eminem, Jay Z, LL Cool J and **Drake** have been very crucial parts of the culture Missy Eliot, OutKast, *RZA* etc, so many crucial elements of hip hop just lost in this trifecta that wouldn’t be here.
From 'im heard Zev Love X's verse on 3rd Bass' "Gasface", 'im was mesmerized. Zev & Sub Roc were 'im Heroes. The devastation of the L's hit 'im as well. When Mr. Dumile decided to don The Mask, tears of joy streamed forth. Kinda like Sean P! resurfacing as "The Brokest Rapper You Know" (DOOM & P! 'im two FAVORITES). As far as Kendrick goes, when 'im first heard "Swimming Pools"... that💩 was on repeat for at least 2 Days... straight. Salute to Mr. Lamar, and of course Mr. West. And Salute to you Ben (Grimm), for this outstanding Homage to Hip Hop Legends. 💯🦾🫡
Yo you mentioned Odd Future, can we get a video on Tyler or a video on the group as a whole? maybe even talk about the wolf trinity, great video and RIP Doom
Cool video, dude. I really like your trinity of GOATs theory. Even if someone doesn't 100% agree with who you put on that list, I think it's a really useful way of approaching the GOAT conversation that anybody can adopt and find helpful.
Great video. Very good take. I personally don’t love MF Doom as much sadly. My personal “Holy Trinity” for hip hop would have Dälek but he doesn’t fit as well as MF Doom does admittedly.
Honestly I think you’ve convinced me. I’ve considering these three as the GOAT and thought I was being hypocritical by having three artists as the GOAT but this puts it into perspective. Also Kanye is also like the Old Testament God in that when viewed in retrospect you see him as deranged but ultimately his undeniable and unmatched mark throughout history has been. And yes Kendrick is a parallel to the actual spiritual Son of the actual trinity in that he is not perfect but truly is perfect in the way that he is living his life to the best and learning the best he can. Kendrick definitely is the most human out of the three and DOOM man he’s always been a favorite of mine and also this is kinda unrelated but I want to use him in Fortnite, this season is called “ABSOLUTE DOOM” and has a yet to be unlocked black skinned (yes, the other Doom in the game has white skin under his mask as seen in his Lego mini fig) DOOM that is spelled in all caps (in the description it is spelled DOOM which is unusual as Doctor Doom is never spelled with all caps and is never black). Epic video my friend. The Hip-Hop GOAT trinity gets my approval 👍🏽
My only differing point on the Ye section, and it's a big one, is that he's the Devil and not God. He wants what he keeps being told is not for him, he has this insane artistic gift that he is lauded for, and he is constantly finding new lows to fall to, whilst still maintaining a place in our minds RENT FREE
@@BingeThinker1814 FD pointed this out on his videos on Kanye and I fully agree with him. Not to mention his alt right grift now is smth that has rlly rlly thrown me off as Ik how bad that rabbit hole ideologically he is going down. Thankfully, I was only a hardcore conservative and not on the alt right fully, but Ik how bad it gets. I think hip hop fans need to come to terms that Kanye shouldn’t be given attention when he’s been going down this bs.
