"MILK FOR CATS - CONSEQUENCES OF FEEDING Feeding milk to a cat, especially after weaning, can have adverse health consequences: bloating, gas, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, leading to dehydration, allergic reactions - itching, skin irritation, and even hair loss, overweight and obesity. Feeding cow's milk to a cat, especially a young one with low body mass, can cause serious digestive problems, such as severe diarrhea, leading to rapid dehydration of the animal, which poses a life-threatening situation. Milk for cats also means extra calories in the diet - there are about 60 kcal in 100 ml of milk. Cats regularly satisfying their thirst with milk can quickly gain weight. Excessive body mass in a cat over time can lead to dangerous diseases such as diabetes, fatty liver, urinary stones, or joint degeneration."

Thank you for the insightful advice regarding the feeding of milk to cats. The three kittens had only been drinking their mother's milk in a warehouse right up until they were rescued. Upon introducing them to solid food at our home, they experienced diarrhea, which led me to believe that, although they are of age to be weaned, their digestive systems might still need some time to adjust. Consequently, I've started them on a weaning diet that includes milk to gently transition their stomachs. I truly believe your advice is spot on.

@@cathouse234 Yes, in small kittens, solid food can sometimes cause diarrhea. This can be due to various factors such as food intolerance, diet changes, bacterial or viral infections, stress, or allergies. It's important to monitor your kitten's reactions to different types of food and notice if any negative symptoms, such as diarrhea, occur. If diarrhea persists or other concerning symptoms arise, it's advisable to consult a veterinarian to rule out more serious health issues and receive appropriate treatment.
