This is the story of a Kodava family which comprised of more than 300 members in the year 1786 AD, which was butchered , burned and wiped out in a single day by Tippu sultan except for one member, Keethianda Kalaiah who lived to tell the tale.
At the base of the Western Ghats of South India in the district of Coorg in Karnataka lies a remote village called Thora.This beautiful village is the home of the Keethianda family from time immemorial.
The story dates back to 1786 AD.
Nestled between the rolling hills and scenic paddy fields, this Kodava family owned a very large house called ainmane or Ballyamane. It was a joint family system and about 300 members of the family lived in the house. There were 22 babies in the cradle. The family were Jamma land holders and served the Coorg Raja during war.
This video is the journey of the family from tragedy to triumph.

why are brahmin pandits shown in the last festival giving prasadam??? brahmins arent used in traditions of Kodavas, right?
@Roadandrest
@Roadandrest 3 года назад
Yes , there is no need for a priest for any of the kodava rituals. However that is about a hanuman temple where the Hindu way of pooja is followed along with a Brahmin priest.

@@simonrinu9350 Correct, that's what I meant. There is no public road. If the private property owner objects, then we can't go. I have in fact met the DC of coorg 1 month back and requested her to visit the place and allow a trail route for tourists. Now that she is busy with dealing with Corona, it may not happen soon.

How do you know? You can find so many evidence of tippus brutality in Coorg. You can find living proof in the form of kodava mappille, who were forcefully converted, but they still carry their kodava clan name , even though they follow Islam. You ask them. You read about them. Then you will know the history which you don't know.
