BB is such a strange outlier character. Doesn't use a standard endo-skeleton, non-hostile, first character to ever talk and a non-animal design. He is quite a strange character.
Don’t forget he’s one of the only animatronics that’s paired with another. Since he aids withered foxy. The only other characters I can think of are the Freddles, Bon Bon,and the Minireenas
The original gremlin child before we had Gregory! It’s kinda sad how we never got to see these two in the same setting tbh. For such an unassuming little fellow, he really does manage to stand out among the cast. And in a game series where half the characters are robo-furries that’s quite the feat, even though he doesn’t have the same relevance as he did way back when. Neat video on this lil rascal!
I love how Balloon Boy was such a priority for Illumix that not only was he included day one, but he also got more skins than the literal face of the franchise. And yet I guess Lefty, Funtime Foxy, and the Glamrocks didn't matter to them and were just thrown in trash never to be added despite already being confirmed, because who cares about them, right?
As much hate as BB gets, I really think he's a cool character. He's unique compared to the collective of other characters, adorable in a "want to throw him at the wall" sort of way, he was even the first animatronic to have voice lines (unless foxy's sea shanty counts, which i dont usually consider it to). All his incarnations are special, if a tad forgettable, and he's the best nuance in fnaf 2 that is an actual nuance (rather than just another mechanic to be aware of, i.e the puppet or the shadows). He's a good character and it's really sad that not that many people seem to appreciate him.
Yeah. For me it’s easy to just ride him off as a simply annoying character and nothing else. But actually stopping to think about it, he’s genuinely really bizarre. And in a way that only he really seems to be. Lore-wise especially as he doesn’t seem to have much going on with him. Though I’ve heard that the books say otherwise. It’s strange how a character THIS unique wouldn’t have anything else important to him lore wise. Or at least none that I know of. I would start loving this character a lot more if he had some actual story purposes for existing.
@@cantmakeacreativename2072IKR I WOULD LOVE MAYBE AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY WOULD YOU MAKE AN ANIMATRONIC WHOSE SOLE PURPOSE IS TO GIVE BALLONS LIKE GIVE HIM SOME LORE
@@L16htW4rr10r they don't really hate him, its just the usual trope of making the joke where everyone wants to mentality and physically torture someone for no reason rather than a little annoying habit they might have which in the case of the gremlin™, it's the stealing battery shenanigans and his kind manners of acknowledging your existence.
Funny how Baloon Boy is the first animatronic in the series who doesn't directly attack the player... and now he's in BBWorld... an arcade game themed around Sun and Moon......one of them who doesn't directly attack the player
I've always found it funny that people think Balloon Boy is very annoying. BB was designed to be annoying so of course they'd find him annoying lol. I find him more interesting than anything since he's so unique compared to the rest of the cast. I've always had a soft spot for him
I like how his sound effects/voice lines in AR sound like balloons! Like the "breathing" is him inflating balloons and his "annoyed" sound is letting an inflated balloon deflate a little.
"The new set of children, though? William hadn’t bothered actually stuffing them anywhere, so the Puppet guided them to select new vessels of their own. Instead of individual characters like it was expecting, though, all of them voluntarily possessed Balloon Boy just because it was mildly amusing. ...but it got extremely stressful because Balloon Boy staged a coup against him with the other animatronics. So, once the week was over, he transferred over to the dayshift position. Balloon Boy wasn’t going to let Jeremy get away free, though, and proceeded to publicly attack him and bite out his frontal lobe. Wow. That face trauma prophecy came true quickly. But hey, don’t worry, it grew back within a month."
I never really stopped to think about balloon boy. He was basically a meme for, like, two or three years and after nightmare balloon boy was introduced in the FNAF 4 Halloween update, he just kind of... Vanished from relevance.
Not even joking when I say this, BB is genuinely one of my favourite characters of this entire franchise. Seeing a video finally dedicated to him and his band of misfits is a pleasure to see
Bb always stuck out to me in a positive way. Whenever I played FNAF 2 and I heard him coming, it was always a fun challenge to see if I could spot him in time before he took my batteries. I think he’s a character the community loves to hate, but hates to hate at the same time. Glitched Attraction really did a good job implementing his variations into the game.
I like that he's not just another "kill you"-animatronic, but more importantly I like that he gets closer to the Uncanny Valley (as a humanoid character rather than an animal mascot) than the others and his voice-lines are - few as they are - iconic by now.
You know we may not like Balloon Boy, but try to remember something he was still iconic that way no matter what. This surprisingly might be the best and also most important thing about him in FNAF history and surprisingly came out of nowhere.
Honestly, Balloon Boy is such a fascinating choice. Him being a glorified sentient helium tank that purposefully screws with you in a similar way as Bonnie and Chica disabling the doors is so fascinating in the fandom at the time. But I feel he is also the most offputting for the same reason as Pasqually in Chuck E. Cheese. The human in a group of animals.
Still a Balloon Boy stan! Was one in 2014 will keep being one for the foreseeable future! Half-jokes aside I really like BB getting a full analysis, he, probably, deserves it. Very good work!
Balloon Boy feels more like someone lifted from Chipper and Son and the humanoid characters in The Desolate Hope, thus being one of those "unintentionally creepy" type characters, whereas the main cast is meant to be outright unnerving.
I feel like bb is just a weird ai that works differently like to alert the others, while jj could have been a new animatronic that never got relased due to the toys being scrapped
The first time I ever saw FNAF 2, it was BB's laughter that stuck out to me as the scariest. He doesn't match the setting as well as the others do, nor does he match them, which makes him even scarier and probably why he's stuck stealing batteries instead of ending your life. Really good video! I've never noticed the little guys in Sister Location
Man a ballon boy essay is one of the most "damn never thought someone would do this" videos I seen from fnaf in a while. Good stuff. Also I'm so tainted I almost called him ballon boi lol
I was always frustrated with how much BB hate got spread around (and still kinda spreads around) the fan base up to the point where I saw people literally wanting to throw him in the trash. This gremlin child holds a special place in my heart and I’m glad someone is finally shedding some light on him. I wish the significance of him and Foxy got more touched upon because it seems like he has a close relationship with both him and Bonnie (based off on a teaser thing I saw. I don’t remember if that was from Scott or a fan artist jdjdjdksk)
The little kid animatronics like BB intrigue me so much. We have no confirmation if they're actually haunted or possessed. We have no idea where they come from, they have no specific 'place' or function, they don't feel like they belong in a pizzaria and more like a circus setting to me. I can never tell what is up with them.
Looking at Balloon Boy, you gotta wonder if he was ever planned to be some kind of Chucky thing in game or a story, seeing as how he too mirrors the 1980s Playmates dolls like Corky. Nightmare BB and Lucky sort of tackle the idea from two different sides but they never really go full Child's Play or William Goldman's Magic, which is a shame. Because I'd probably feel something more akin to fear if they tried to use the original film's script where you don't know if The Doll really was killing anything or it was just sad kid that owns them breaking down.
Man i remember when balloon boy was revealed ages ago. He seemed to be like the first hidden animatronic in a way and i saw people freak out about him. kinda odd to think about today really
Honestly i remember when it was a running gag that ballon boy was the pure incarnation of evil...which was made funnier after five nights at f boys made him the main antagonistic of the fan game series....like i love how this guy was just labeled the most hated character in the series purely as a meme
Freddy going full Dynasty Warrior on the B.B army in Twisted Ones is one of my favorite moments in tbe franchise. It's just so, so dumb it loops back around to being awesome for me.
Everybody hates BB but i can mind the little gremlin child. He is so different from all the other animatronics and he uses a different endoskeleton and he doesn't try to murder you, just inconvenience you. He can be annoying but he does make the game fun
i just realised that the relatively small building of fnaf 2 had equal to the amount of animatronics (*or close to equal to*) in a massive themed mall not counting staff bots
I love the fact that so many characters from the stories find a doll/animatronic in a dump and never think "you know, maybe someone wanted to have this creepy thing buried and destroyed for a reason." Like if ghosts and remnant are real, surely they've *been* real right? Like if agony can haunt things or children's souls are a way to be immortal...surely that didn't just star when Fazbear got incorporated. Ghost stories and haunted objects gotta be like, a thing people at least hear about right? Unless the world outside of Fazbear is a utopia or something...
"I just want to get my hands on his sweet succulent double A *batteries."* No one trusted this gremlin when they first saw him just standing there menacingly in fnaf2
The funny thing about Balloon Boy is that he's actually a powerful demon possessing a simple animatronic. He manifested into a place with a lot of kids, figuring he'd do some corrupting- "Hey, kid! Your parents have candy hidden inside of them! While they're sleeping, get out the biggest knife in the kitchen and..." - but he showed up only to find a bunch of other possessed animatronics. He figured they were also demons, and since so many being in one place implied that someone even more powerful than him was already running an operation, he decided to just go with the flow and try to be quietly helpful until he could really figure out what was going on.
Insert "he has no rules. No boundaries. He doesn't flinch at torture, human trafficking, or genocide. He's not loyal to a flag or country or any set of ideals"
in poland there was a theory that jj was an abbreviation of the name of the child that posessed her, people thought that the first name was jolyne and as i remembered it a few seconds ago i thought about a certain character from JJBA
What’s weird about Dee Dee is that sometimes she won’t summon anyone/change any AI after she sings her song. She only summons/changes things when the “A NEW CHALLENGER HAS APPEARED!” message shows up.
In Dreadbear's Trick or Treat level, he's with the Withereds over who can jumpscare you. Despite in his original guise, he has his 4 jumpscare. If you use the knocker instead of the doorbell, he may attack (though I don't know if it'd be solely him)
Theory time! Both the Daycare Attendant and the Balloon Boy feature circus theme - Daycare Attendant was a performer, after all. That's why they both appear in same minigame.
Thisll sound weird but Balloon Boy is the most hype I ever was for FNAF. He was in absolutely none of the promos for FNAF 2, he is never acknowledged by anyone, he DOES actually look like a decoration, and then he just goes! And has a mechanic! For some reason my 2014 brain thought that opened huge doors for enemy variety in FNAF. So it's odd to see how others look at this thing especially considering I'm really not sure we know what the fuck he even is and if he is haunted and if so then by whom.
While before most FNAF enjoyers’ time, Balloon Boy is based on, well, Balloon Boy - a big scandal where basically a boy’s crackpot grifting father pretended to everyone that his kid got stuck in the weather balloon he made, and it floated away. People chased after it, it was a whole huge thing, boy found hiding at home in the end etc. But it makes me wonder if that ties into the story in the sense that you described with Michael, but maybe played straight. That maybe a piece of Michael is trapped in the animatronic, or maybe it’s referencing Afton covering up for Michael’s ““death””, or maybe just an in-universe play on the idea that the majority of the kids who Afton is making ‘go missing’ aren’t getting the fuss over them that one who didn’t did, and it’s just funny to him to flaunt the idea of missing kids in front of people.
Maybe is just me, but I do like BB, along with JJ and Dee Dee, heck, I even have my alternate version of Foxy who's a father figure to them, so yeah, I do like this video
@@whydidtheballooneatthefox282 Yeah, I do like them, too bad they don't appear often in the main games, along being treated nicely by the community, an example of seeing this abuse was in a skit by The Hottest Dog in one of those UCN videos, having William slapping Dee Dee, making her cry, and then getting shot by him, while being rewarded by Freddy doing a slow clap
Id argue Phantom BB is actually quite prominent among the others- hes usually the first phantom a player encounters, since when you see him on the cameras, most people will stop and stare in confusion (at least when the game first came out and info was scarce.)
I remember Sergio's Lucky Day being one of the first Fnaf stories I read. (I later referred to it as "Lucky Boy" ) And what a damn introduction to the Fazbear Frights series and the books in general. I remember being so angry with the stupid romance drama, and the meandering along without much of the animatronic doing anything. Ironically, the short 'horror' story was so mediocre that it got me interested and read the rest of the stories. It's definitely one of the more weaker outings, and I remember comparing it to Lally's Game a lot when that came out.
i think a better ending to lucky boy's story would be if lucky boy broke or went missing and sergio's life fell apart because of it, taking him past square 1 into levels of squalor he could have never imagined. if the story has to go further after that, have him find an evil lucky boy with human eyes and teeth (reminiscent of plushtrap chaser) and a deedee/xor color scheme, and THAT'S the thing that gives him the bad advice
The Encyclopedia: Everyone loves balloons, don't they? A balloon can cheer up anyone's day. Balloon Boy, on the other hand, can completely ruin your day! He's an animatronic animatronic that first appears in Five Nights at Freddy's 2 and is in the same style as the Toy Animatronics. In the pizzeria, his role is to give out balloons to the customers. At least it's not totally saint...
I vaguely remember when fnaf 2 had come out and people started confirming that JJ was actually a real easter egg and wasnt fake that people just called it JJ to match BB, so pretty sure scott just ran with the fan name when fnaf world came out
"Hahahahaahahah hahahahahahahahha" Translation: balloon boy is a brat but hell knows a part of all us loves him in some way shape or form.... for most of us its us loving to hate him but hey he makes a cameo in fnaf movie so he has that
Often, I find myself just mimicking BB’s “Hello?” & “Hi,” voice lines as a vocal stim, or playing his sounds in my head. They’re just really good noises, actually, they’re just as annoying the first time as they are the two thousand three hundred & forty sixth time.
Balloon Boy was always my favorite FNAF character, ever since he first appeared in FNAF 2. I understand why people hate him but I love him the most out of all of the animatronics in FNAF. He's just a silly lil guy
I like to think on how every BB variant after FNAF 2 (or almost every variant, cuz we have to except FNAFW) are always terryfing demons compared to the original. You get to see Phantom BB the first time and you're like "wtf he was an innocent thing!", and so on with Nightmare BB and his psychopath voicelines, the FNAF AR one since is the first time normal BB got a jumpscare, the books variants, etcetera; even the Fan-Games variants of the character are really creepy, like JR's, Final Nights, Storage, and well every Fan Game with BB on it But i ususally like to think the original one is cool and it's likely the most friendly one of the Toy Animatronics, due to the other Toys' personalities given on UCN or FNAF AR
I'm so glad we're talking about one of my favorite animatronics, I have his clasic "hello" a ringtone! There is no fnaf chanel that has made me rage like this one, thank you so much for putting your thoughts out there and being the muse of so many late night theory crafting, keep up the good work
I've seen one such video where some guys attempted to make their own Fazbear Frights stories; they're given prompts by some Titter fans, let Novelai continue the synopsis, using a random selection for characters or locations, then photoshopping up a cover. One they came up with was Afton Robotics scientists (Zachary & Willard) discovering a radioactive chemical (Funtime Freddy-agen) that turns you into a copy of BB. The ai had Willard morph instantly trying to eat balloons, Zachary changes too, the chemical makes the electricity overload, and the two explode. Other such prompts include: Toy Freddy using a curse from Nightmarionne to gain Twitch followers, Lefty and his twin Righty in a bar, and a Redditor STAFF bot trash-talking Fazbear's and getting haunted by Springtrap. Someone in that video's comments made a full story on that last one. When the ai for the prompt said "Freddy's gonna cut you into bite-sized pieces and eat your heart", their response was: "that is a Fazbears Fright story - so normal, but then needless gore for no reason". XD
Aside from the semblance of Little Joe, BB has been speculated to have ties to Afton Robotics or Circus Baby's for his more humanoid appearance. Also the kids in Fruit Punch/Lemonade Clown's minigame are basically Adventure BB with no hat.
Remember the 2014 debate "is BB an animatronic, hallucimation,or is the Puppet moving him?" I was on the animatronic side from the start, ahhhhh good old times.
