Hung Sing = Great Victory Choy Lee Fut was founded by Cheung Hung Sing, student of Lee Yau San, Chan Heung and the Green Grass Monk (who, was actually one of the founders of the Hung Mun Secret Society). The Hung Sing name was given to Cheung by the Green Grass Monk as it was a secret and condensed slogan of "The Hung will be Victorious in overthrowing the Qing Dynasty, which they finally did in 1911. Established in FUT SAN, which was a major hub for revolutionary activity, Cheung Hung Sing established his school that grew to cover all over Fut San in preparation for the Tai Ping Rebellion. Our school had been fighting in every major revolution in southern China from 1851 to 1949. In the eary 1920's, Professor Lau Bun, the grand student of Cheung Hung Sing came to the United States and established The Hung Sing Kwoon here, first in Los Angeles, then in San Francisco where it is over 80 years old today and still existing under the guidance of my sifu, GM dino salvatera.

I would be interested comin seeing Dragon style. The move where they blurred Bruce's movements my teacher share that is something really in martial arts. To hypnosis their opponet. If was in Dragon style. He showed me a bit of that aspect like. Bruce did with the circular movements and waving a hand up and down opposing the other hand doing the same. I had yet to find a teacher to teach and show Dragon like like my teacher had.

Do Choy Lee Fut and Hung Gar work well together? They seem pretty similar to me
@Michael-im4ue
@Michael-im4ue 2 года назад
@@junichiroyamashita Hi Junichiro. First of all, i want to say that i'm not study either choy li fut or hung gar system. So, i think it will be much better if you asked a person that really training in that system. But, i want to help you to answer your question. I just want to say that i'm not a keyboard warrior. Okay, let's get into it. If you look at the history of the choy li fut's founder who is Chan Heung, before he created that style, he learned 3 kungfu styles that is Choy Gar (from Choy Fook), Li Gar (from Li Yau San), and Hung Gar (from his uncle). After Chan Heung learned 3 systems, he created choy li fut system. But, i don't know why he name that system choy li fut, Why not choy li hung instead? That's the point that i don't know. But from historically record you can see that Chan Heung did study the Hung Gar system. For me that's make Choy Li Fut is like mixed martial arts in the early 1800's. So, i think its not strange if you see Hung Gar and Choy Li Fut do have similarities and i think this two systems can work well together. So, that's my answer i hope can help you. Once again i'm not a practitioner in any of these styles, so it will be much better if you ask a person who did training in that styles because there is a huge difference between a person who actually training and only see that training. There is no practitioner in Hung Gar or Choy Li Fut in my country. Thank You. (Sorry for my broken english).

In the Oakland phase of jkd, I've noticed a technique that was similar to CLF, but I wasn't sure since the Seattle phase, and LA phase didn't seem to have it. It was lead back fist, cross, lead hook. While in CLF it was lead downward backfist, cross, lead hook. I don't know if Bruce experimented with James Yim Lee, and James decided to keep it...or it was put in their by the sifus after.

Good stuff, SiFu Adam! There’s a good story in the book “Wing Chun Warrior” where Bruce Lee and Duncan Leung challenged a Choy Lee Fut master and we’re beaten easily. When they went back to Ip Man to tell him, he was a little irked by them because he knew they weren’t ready to take on that opponent. Lee moved from Hong Kong shortly after that. There’s more to the story, but this comment is a little lengthy. But please check it out if you get a chance. Than you for sharing!

Hung Kuen and Choi Lee Fut were both practiced by many gangsters in Hong Kong. They used these styles in real fights. Ip Man Wing Chun was practiced mainly by people who were more educated. There are other branches of Wing Chun being practiced by people in the marketplace which was really used for street fights. Ip Man was never a street fighter. Most of the movie stories of Ip Man were unreal.

The adaption of long range in Buk Sing Choy Lay Fut was due to Tarm Sarm. Before learning BuK Sil Lum he used short range techniques, then determined long was better, as he stated every inch of reach is an inch of power, he also stated it is easier to shorten your technique when learning it long, then it is to lengthen when being trained short. Every Buk Sing technique can be done shorter.

Here the swing is by used more square, in front. But, the strike actually comes from an off-angle. The feet need to move and achieve proper positioning, then turn the waist and swing. So the strike actually comes from a place that they cannot see it. CLF guys knocked Many many many people out in tournaments doing this exact thing. They were a MENACE lol. Most Wing Chun schools used to hold special training to deal with the off-angle overhand strike in the 90s lei tai tournament era on the east coast. And I mean school’s directly under some of the most notable. Our area had Moy Yat, Lo Man Kam, AND Duncan Leung, PLUS Yuen Kay San style. The other big competitor in the area: Jow Ga.

I live all you had to share here. I had seen Choy Lee Fut and never seen anyone make it look so strong, fast and dynamac. You definently changed my opinion of the style. I am like you, my teachers always taught me to learn from where and whoever I can. So, they dos that. Taught me to do the same while teaching me the many different aspects of the many styles they had learned. With Wing Tsun being the main style from on of my two main teacher. The other teacher main styles he taught were Boxing and TKD. Thank you very much from your share. I will say, the main thing I had learned from my two main styles. This is simular to your story. It's not so much the style but the teacher who makes the style great. Well that and the student both. The more the teacher knows, the better you will learn and covert from other teachers faster and better. Then with a good student hungry to learn and try their best with their teacher can make a powerful combination. Something my teachers were always worried about. Finding a worthy student.

That is what martial arts is. Learning from other Warriors. Respecting others fighting styles because most will not fight. The only thing most will do is flab the gab.

@@stefanschleps8758 What are you talking about? I went through the Mcmap and L.I.N.E. training. In the United States Marine Corps. I certainly do not run my mouth to anyone and respect all forms of combat. I have studied several martial arts. I certainly do not hit porous slabs of stone in a park to show that I know how physics work. Its a parlor trick. Does not mean you have any power. You can boast anyone's confidence with slabs of porous stone. Why dont you hit one not made by man? See if you can break it?
