There was another version that didn't have the camera and was just the car itself. There was also a Helen Henny car. (The Chuck E. Cheese's in Honolulu, HI (Dillingham Blvd) has a Helen Henny car.)
Here's an interesting fact: for a brief time at Northridge they had the Avenger Photo ride but with the updated cameras system. I don't see a lot of people talk about it so idk if it was Northridge exclusive or this happened at other stores too
it happened at other stores. There must have been a stock of Avenger photo ride statues so they just put those on some of the new photo rides instead of the rockstar statue
@@HicksAnimationsthe thing is, corporate didn't try to erase avenger or cool chuck illustrations from most of their games despite them desperately trying to erase their identity for a while now, youd expect them to at least update their games because of that but I guess not
I haven’t set foot in a Chuck E. Cheese since my 8th birthday, but I have fond memories of going! I still have some of my photo ride photos! I can’t believe they got rid of the tokens!! I didn’t know about this until this video but the tokens were such an iconic part of the CEC experience! Nothing like begging your parents to pay for the staff to refill that paper cup of brass coinage. Made you feel like a baller as a kid. Fat stacks of doubloons!
I miss the tokens, as a kid I would stick my fingers under some of the machines and find many tokens. My dad would cut out Chuck E. Cheese coupons from the Sunday paper, and I would make those tokens go a long way [with the help of looking for tokens as well]. I also miss the mascots who would throw tickets .. or were they tokens? The nostalgia this video brought made feel so happy. Thank you.
@@chattychucke5535When the Avenger version debuted, the catchy Photo Ride music was released. Glad they kept it when switching over to the Rockstar version! I can’t get it out of my head now.
16:12 Actually, the earliest pictures or media of the Avenger version happen to be from 2011, as I remember seeing a CEC grand opening video from 2011 that had that version of the ride
I grew up in Topeka and had no idea there was a distribution center there. We didn't have the Avenger ride version that looked like he was pregnant or anything like that. Our "ride" was just a straight up photo booth where you could sit inside and it would take a picture and pretend Chuck E was drawing your picture, and had a pencil sketch filter of sorts on it. The other hosts didn't have any involvement in the photo booth. I don't know how common it was since it wasn't touched on in this video but I don't know, if the Avenger rides were overproduced in Topeka, you'd think that the Topeka location would have one of them. I haven't been to that location in years so I don't know if they still have that photo booth set up or not. I do think they waited a long time to remodel though. Potentially as long in as not remodeling until around 2019-20, so maybe that's why they were never given one
My local upgraded to the "newer" Rockstar photo ride (the 2019 version with the color printer and the rockstar voices) a long while ago (i dont know exactly when, but i do have a pictures with it, although i dont fit in the actual car anymore i just stand behind it), my local also upgraded to the rockstar ticket blaster when they remodeled to 2.0 last year. They had the old Rockstar photo ride version from before 2019 I believe if I remember correctly (it's been a long while and I'm young so some things I can't remember all that well). I think it it's funny that the Avenger photo ride released in 2012 yet that was when Rockstar came out (they could have done it years earlier), also i don't think i've ever seen an original photo ride with yellow sweater chuck (i've only seen Avenger and Rockstar photo ride versions, and those are the two Chuck E.'s I've grown up with, mostly Rockstar since he's been around since I was 5)
This is a really interesting video, but I have to say I was distracted by seeing that "Kiddie Coaster" ride with Cedar Point themed rides! I had no idea something like that existed until I saw a photo of it, that's pretty cool!
Somewhere my mom has all the photos we took, every trip we had to get one and we had the whole family get in the frame to get everyone there for memories.
Atari ruled the late 70s and early 80s. I got an Atari 2600 for Christmas in around 1982 or so. By modern standards, the graphics were primitive. But it was all we had ever known at the time, and we had the most fun ever.
17:25 as in the photo you can see that there a big chuck e cheese plush on the train ride behind him you can see big Freddy plush behind the big chuck e cheese plush
Cool vid just one thing, if Bob West and Carissa McKinney were the original voices for the ride, they did it during the January ‘94 show tape meaning the voice actor for Munch would actually be Duncan Brannan. It sounds a lot like his version of munch too. Doug Teal voiced Munch the second tape of the year, when a whole new cast was hired except for Duncan Brannan remaining as Chuck E. Cheese
RU-vid loves to find me new special interests and now I have a special interest in Chuck E. Cheese 😂 glad to have your account to dive as deep as I can into this
i love that bowling for soup is involved after 2012. i also just found my picture, its from 2003 i was 4 yrs old (my mom dated my pictures bless her), wildly i dont really remember it. i want to go back and get another photo, 20 years later.
Greato Video! Also i still have my pic of the old Chuck E. Car ride when my location, Blackstone was still in phase 2 i believe. (My other location, Shaw Avenue has the avenger chuck photo ride which is pretty rare nowadays)
I remember this ride and remember taking several pictures with Chuck E., wished I saved those photos but oh well at least I still have the fond memories.
Sounds like the original photo ride has two different Chuck voice actors. The opening and closing lines were Duncan, but the voice that plays from the Chuck button sounded like an earlier voice.
Somehow, my brother and I never went on this ride when we were kids. *Adds this ride to list of things she never experienced or had in her childhood that were popular*. A couple of years ago, I did two non-ride Chuck E. Cheese photo ops/booths. They had the color photos.
Once I noticed the place on most of the classic statues where the edges of the open mouth meet the edges of what looks like it should be a closed mouth seam, it's so hard to ignore. Like he's going :-)D Chilling stuff.
I think I remember my childhood chuck e cheese photo ride as the 1995 version with the purple and green “avengers” paint job, but since the photos were in black and white and this happened decades ago, it’s hard to recall.
The prototype Avenger ride scares me (my local Hialeah had it till 2021 or 2022 when they got 2.0 with a full rockstar car with voice branding and design)
I think we all have photos taken on this iconic car ride along with the black and white filtered pictures, in fact I have photos from the early 2000's of infant me along with the Cool Chuck version of the ride. I actually have a lot of photos taken of me as a baby or child at Chuck E Cheese in my house but this was one of the more memorable attractions there. Maybe you should make more videos about the Chuck E Cheese reskins of existing games and rides and the history of the most nostalgic ones.
12:28 I remember that location it’s the Hobart/Merriville but it’s close to Merriville so whatever but I still remember that ride but unfortunately they replaced it :(
prototype avenger ride he is holding a helmet maybee it is to look like it is for the kids ik you said do not comment but i think it may be a possibillity
man when i was a kid i used to go to cec every birthday and i remember taking a picture on the original photo rides what i would give to get a picture taken on one again
9:21 found a RU-vid video touring the location after the 2.0 remodel out of curiosity. It seems that it has been switched to the rockstar version unfortunately
Guess what I'm looking at this version of the Kiddiy ride of the Avenger version of chuck e cheese. Then it went to Rockstar at my local chuck e cheese
I still have my CEC photo from 2004, though it’s not from the photo ride as the Chuck statue isn’t there and the border is different. It’s the one where the photo looks like a black and white sketch. For the longest time, i thought that photo was from this very ride.
You know, some of the avenger audio photo cars plays that annoying siren sound when it’s not in action. When I was little, photo car at my Chuck E. Cheese’s in Louisiana at Baton Rouge had a rockstar looking Chuck, but had the avenger audio & when it wasn’t in action, it played the siren sound that used to scare me only when I was small, but it doesn’t scare me when it became the year when CEC gave away tokens and used them as credit cards because when it did that, it had the same things but didn’t have that siren sound anymore. Then in 2020-now, it looks the same but has the new rockstar audio. It just mixed up.
Sadly my childhood location didn't have one of these until I was too big to fit in it. So I never got to get a picture with any of the good ones, and I don't want to get one with that cringey Rockstar Chuck one.
